Wow, this is really interesting!!

My twin sister's and my wand have the same wood and core (both Cedar and Phoenix-Feather).
But mine is quite bendy and hers is unyielding. I am a Ravenclaw (with all my heart! :D ). She is a Slytherin.

We were pretty surprised that the Sorting Hat didn't think we had that much in common... We were pretty sure we would both be in Ravenclaw, especially after we have such similar wands...

GingerbreadWitch wrote:Slightly springy- A wand with this flexibility may not appear to be very loyal at all because they will initially take to new owners quite well, but the fact of the matter is that they will always have a special tie to their original owner. As time goes on, this wand will become increasingly more troublesome for any owner that isn't its original owner until finally it stops working altogether. This wand is good for crafting spells. Owners matched with this wand may be very cheerful and optimistic, but most of all, they have very big (and possibly overactive) imaginations. Their thought patterns tend to be outside of the box.

I like that I think outside of the box, but slightly worried that my wand might stop working!!

My wand flexibility is:
Brittle- A wand with this flexibility tends to attach itself quickest to owners who have insecurities, and its level of loyalty is often dependent on how loyal the owner is to it. Should it become very loyal to its original owner, new owners often won't get the chance to earn the wand's loyalty before it breaks. Brittle wands are best suited to subtle and delicate magic, such as transfiguration and non-verbal spell-casting. Because they break easy, their owners should be careful to avoid magic that is unnecessarily flashy or explosive, especially if the wand also has a dragon heartstring core. Owners with this wand flexibility are usually contemplative, clever, and somewhat cynical; they tend to be an "underdog" type of person and perhaps even a little bit unlucky, which could lead them to becoming resentful of their more successful peers. If a brittle wand owner perseveres and manages to get over their insecurities, however, he or she will often become a "great success story" that never ceases to amaze and inspire others.

I found this to be very interesting. I don't think it really fits me. Oh well, I don't want to turn into an underdog now that I have that type of wand.

Wow, thanks for writing this! I was also pretty disappointed about the lack of information about flexibilities, especially considering there are so many of them.

My wand is redwood and brittle. I have found only one other person on Pottermore with a redwood wand - and funnily enough that person's wand was also brittle; and we both also had the same wand core - dragon. Personally, I would like to statistics of the most common and rare wood/core combinations. I think that would be interesting.

I find your notes on brittle wands interesting, especially the 'unlucky' part. Redwood is like the felix felicis of wand woods, and selects owners who are "good at being lucky", apparently. Brittle and redwood seem to contradict each other in that sense, but perhaps the brittle aspect of unlucky is more of a perceptual thing of the owner (i.e. one may wonder why they are lucky), whereas redwood's lucky is genuine and objective? That is my impression of it, when I consider my track record with luck.

I'm inclined to agree that brittle wands would break easily with "explosive" magic, but I think this would be the case more-so for brittle wands in the wrong hands (like if the wand were stolen). I find it hard to believe any wand would break from using a spell alone, as wands are built to be conductive, not resistant to magic. That said, it might not favor 'explosive spells', although perhaps the dragon core could counter balance this weakness in the wand, instead of making it more prone to breaking (i.e. the 'heart' holding the skin together).

Other than that, wonderful job with the flexibilities!

I never did this as a teenager, so I'm doing it now! Click on the dragon eggs and help them grow and hatch!
