I do think trying it in Windows is your best bet (Firefox v11 or 12, Adobe Flash v11 or better). It may or may not work. The problem is that just having a mismatch of software is only one of the possible problems. And, believe me, a simple mismatch is the problem you'll want to have; any of the other will require Pottermore's help to fix and may put you out of the game for weeks...

Should it work in Windows, make sure you do the Sorting there as well. After you've done the Sorting, you'll have access to most of the game and there are no points left that can seriously disable your access to the game if you get stuck there. Still, I would recommend switching to Windows every time you run into a true game element for the first time.

This doesn't work you will have to make a new account.
Are you sure you bought all the items on the list correctly? Your pet? The books? The brass scales? The telescope? Everything?

Don't go making a new account at the drop of a hat. Firstly, it's not allowed by the PM rules and secondly, it won't guarantee that you don't get stuck somewhere again.
Try getting this one to work first.

So I just joined Pottermore. I'm not a technical dummy, and most technical issues I have online, I figure out myself. This has me downright stumped.

The instructions on the site say to navigate in moments via the up and down arrow keys//double clicking. However, performing either of these does absolutely zip. Also, I cannot advance to the next moment whatsoever. It's as if the site itself is ignoring my clicking! It reacts if I put my mouse over the sign that says "Privet Drive", but--and I sound like a broken record here--it refuses to do anything of worthwhile consequence.

I've got the latest Flash/Javascript, and I'm using the latest Google Chrome, but Pottermore is decisively hating me. Help?

Valenci,
Try Firefox with the latest flash. It seems to be the only combo that really works.
I've just upgraded to the latest latest flash and it's working perfectly (I'm brewing a potion right now)

Oh, and make sure you run Pottermore in one browser window only. Just to prevent future problems.

Navigating the moments - as in, zooming in or going on to the next one?

Zooming in should really work either double clicking or using the arrow keys. Try putting the quality to low and see if it works then - if your computer is old or your connection isn't really good, that may help. If it doesn't, try a different browser; as much as I hate to say this, I've seen Pottermore work with Internet Explorer but not Firefox on the same computer...

Going to the next one can be done with the > button at the bottom. Which should just work if there's no lock icon on it...

The sign that says privet drive... hrm, I've never heard of that one causing any trouble, to be honest. It really does seem as if Pottermore is ignoring your clicking. I'd really try a different browser; start with Firefox, but if it doesn't work there either, Internet Explorer/Safari may do the trick. If it still doesn't, see if the problem persists on a different computer. If it does, it may just be a problem with your account, which can only be solved by the Pottermore staff.

I had that problem using safari... So if you are using safari them maybe try chrome and firefox. If that still doesn't work then make sure you have the latest flash.

i havent gone through this whole thing yet, but right at the registration page, it is telling my friend to enter his date of birth, and country. he enters the country, presses the submit button, and it takes him back to enter his birthdate. he has gone through this many times, and nothing has changed. it worked fine for me, and therefore have no ideas of what could be causing this. please help!
