I too haven't really been on Pottermore in awhile, but I do love the back story and learning some backstory on Ilvermorny.

I'm apparently a Thunderbird. The Soul part I get but the thirst for adventure?

By the way, welcome to PPF Sonja and welcome back Rose. :)

I just read a very "spirited" debate on how the Hogwarts Houses compare to the Ilvermorny Houses. Most people agreed that Pukwudgie was like Hufflepuff, and Horned Serpent was like Ravenclaw, but there was a lot of disagreement about Slytherin/Gryffindor and Thunderbird/Wampus.

Anyway one very wise person (a Ravenclaw/Horned Serpent) made this observation:

"Hogwarts as Adjectives"
- Slytherin/Cunning
- Gryffindor/Brave
- Hufflepuff/Loyal
- Ravenclaw/Wise

"Ilvermorny as Nouns"
- Thunderbird/Adventurer
- Pukwudgie/ Healer
- Wampus/ Warrior
- Horned Serpent/ Scholar

There can be many types of Adventurers, Healers, Warriors, & Scholars.

I thought this was interesting and just wanted to share.

That is very interesting Carys Linn! I like this theory and agree that the combination of adjective/noun really works. It also suggests that Ilvermorny houses aren't equivalents of Hogwarts houses, but that they have a different way of emphasizing something about someone's character. Ilvermorny's houses are more about what someone does and Hogwarts more about how someone does it.

I'm a Gryffindor/Thunderbird combination and I like the idea of a 'brave adventurer'. :)

It is great to see you Rose and Carys Linn. :D I have yet to get sorted. I was afraid to because I don't want to lose my Hogwarts House.

That is very interesting Cary thanks for sharing. But I do think you can't say any of the new houses are 100% the same to Hogwarts.
Since I have seen a lot of different types of combinations of Hogwarts and Ilvermorny houses.

And don't worry Hermione you won't lose your Hogwarts house since the Ilvermorny sorting is separate from the Hogwarts sorting. So take the test soon as possible! It will be fun to see which house you are in.

I got Pukwudgie. Really no idea why as it sounds as much like me as Hufflepuff does.

It is interesting to see the combinations and not really a surprise that Gryffindor and Slytherin are so hard to tell apart I always thought they were very similar. :D

I got Pukwudgie. Not really a house I would choose myself, but since we only have sparse information about houses it is hard to decide which house would be the most suitable. However, I may change my mind about it when hopefully we'll receive more details about each house.

It's also possible that your Ilvermorny sorting just helps further define your character. For example, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid are all Gryffindors. But if you combine them with possible Ilvermorny sortings I would guess:

Harry - Gryffindor/Thunderbird
Ron - Gryffindor/Wampus
Hermione - Gryffindor/Horned Serpent
Hagrid - Gryffindor/Pukwudgie

They all represent Gryffindor but they are very different types of Gryffindors.
