Technically your Celtic wood is Elder then, Lily. :)

Based on my birthday I should have a Vine wand. On Pottermore I was given Apple which isn't in the Tree Calendar but does feature in the Tree Ogham (Druidic alphabet) that the calendar was derived from.

I think I read somewhere that JKR was aware of the Tree Calendar and, having read 'Ollivander''s notes on Pottermore, it's obvious that she's done research into the folklore of trees.

There is masses of mythology and folklore surrounding different trees - I've got folders full of the stuff from associations with letters of the alphabet, birds, colors, gem stones etc. to divinatory meanings and herbal properties.

If anyone wants to know more about their wand wood just ask..

Birthday: January 25
Wand wood: Rowan
Known similar wand and user: none
Response: Rowan wood has always been much-favored for wands, because it is reputed to be more protective than any other, rendering defensive charms especially strong and difficult to break. It is commonly stated that no Dark wizard or witch ever owned a rowan wand and indeed there has been no known Rowan wand that has gone on to do evil. Rowan is most happily placed with the clear-headed and the pure-hearted, but this reputation for virtue should not deceive - these wands are the equal of any, often the better, and frequently out-perform others in duels.

Pottermore wand:

Wood: Ebony
Core: Unicorn
Length: 14 1/2
Flexibility: Slightly Springy
Known similar wand and User: It was the third wand used by Harry Potter in Ollivanders Wand Shop, Diagon Alley, London in 1991. Ollivander deemed the wand unsuitable for Harry.

I like both wands!!!

Birthday: April 10th
Wand wood: Alder
Known similar wand and user: Quirinus Quirrell
Response: "Whilst Alder makes for an unyielding wood, its ideal owner is not stubborn or obstinate, but often helpful, considerate and most likeable. Whereas most wand woods seek similarity in the characters of those they will best serve, alder is unusual in that it seems to desire a nature that is, if not precisely opposite to its own, then certainly of a markedly different type" Harry Potter wiki

Pottermore wand:

Wood: Acacia
Core: Unicorn
Length: 11
Flexibility: Slightly Yielding

I like my Pottermore wand better.

Birthday: May 6
Wand: Willow
Similar: Lilly Evans and Ronald Weasley's new wand
Reaction: mixed - considering this is what Rowling had Ollivander write this about the wood ~ 'Willow is an uncommon wand wood with healing power, and I have noted that the ideal owner for a willow wand often has some (usually unwarranted) insecurity, however well they may try and hide it. While many confident customers insist on trying a willow wand (attracted by their handsome appearance and well-founded reputation for enabling advanced, non-verbal magic) my willow wands have consistently selected those of greatest potential, rather than those who feel they have little to learn. It has always been a proverb in my family that he who has furthest to travel will go fastest with willow.'

Birthday: 20.6
Celtic wand wood: oak
Similar: well Hagrid and really a LOT of people here
Reaction: wish I were more like Hagrid! He's such a good person! Oaks are cool but don't grow naturally where I live so they're not all that familiar to me...I think of them as ornamental park trees. So, oak's ok, even one of the best out of Celtic calendar options, but doesn't make me jump for joy;)

On PM my wand's rowan with unicorn hair, 14 1/4 inches. When I first got the result I was so excited!! I LOVE rowan. The description's ok, especially the defencive thing works for me, but more importantly I've always loved those trees. They are so pretty, both the flowers and the berries, and even the leaves with their original shape and strong autumn colouring. (Yes, I like plants and could go on and on.) Also, rowan used to be a sacred tree in my country's old folklore. I love folklore. Plus rowan's associated with my last name, the part of the country where my family comes from, and even is in the name of the area where I lived as a child. Love it:)

Birthday: September 2nd
Wand wood: Vine
Known similar wand and user: Hermione Granger
Response: I actually got pine as my first wand wood when I joined Pottermore (got black walnut later on with a new one), even though I was secretly hoping for vine since I knew about the Celtic Calendar business!
