A Complete Guide to Pottermore (SPOILERS!)(PoA 8-15 added)

Postby Rhynn » April 18th, 2012, 9:40 am

After seeing a lot of questions all over the internet, I decided to write a full guide to Pottermore. I might still add more on brewing the different potions, the Wand sorting quiz and the House sorting quiz, but the most important information is all here.

I managed to make this with the help of my boyfriend and his account, and my mother. My boyfriend was only interested in getting sorted so he let me do everything from that moment on and my mother went through the first chapters so slowly and thoroughly that I could write the guide while she explored :) The rest I could easily figure out with my own account.

From Chamber of Secrets on, I could write it all with just my own account.

I wrote the guide so it could be used off-site as well, so feel free to post it anywhere and share it with anyone who you think needs it! I would like it if there's a link back to PFF accompanying it though ;)

Now, one more thing I really have to say before I post the guide: if you read this guide, you will get MAJOR SPOILERS about Pottermore. So if you don't want spoilers, you should stay away from here. If you just want to know if you got everything, please refer to the Checklist topic!

Oh and if you have anything to add to the guide, please post here, PM me or mail me :)

POTTERMORE GUIDE

Welcome to Pottermore! With this walkthrough I'm going to attempt to make a full guide for everyone who wishes to experience Pottermore. A guide for those who have no idea where to begin and at the same time a guide for those who are just wondering if they got everything in a chapter!

The guide will be divided in sections and chapters. Each has its own code so you can easily search it with ctr+f (windows) or cmd+f (mac). The table of contents lists all the sections/chapters and its codes :)

Please do be careful: this guide is full of spoilers. If you don't want to get spoiled on anything from the Pottermore experience, DO NOT READ THIS GUIDE! You WILL get spoiled and don't say I didn't warn you.

Now... let's get started!

SIGNING UP (SU)
Before you can get started on Pottermore, you'll need to make an account. But I'll get to that in a bit. Before we do anything else, you have to check if you have:
-the latest version of your browser (I recommend Firefox or Chrome, though Safari and Opera have been the only browsers to work correctly for some people so if something doesn't work, try those)
-the latest version of the Flash plugin
-the latest version of javascript
It's also a good idea to close other programs and tabs before going on Pottermore, because it's a rather demanding experience at times! This isn't a requirement, just something which might help :)

All done? Good! Now, go to Pottermore!

You should be seeing the homepage now. It has a little video with J. K. Rowling in the top left and another video under that, a purple banner with "Pottermore by J. K. Rowling" and a blue Sign Up button in the middle and two banners on the right. If you want to go to the eBook store click the bottom right banner, but if you want to sign up for Pottermore, click the blue Sign Up button on the purple banner in the middle!

Now you have to enter some personal information. Your information won't be public (except the country you live in). If you're a minor you might have to enter a parent or guardian's info as well so they can give you permission. Once you've finished step 5 and clicked Continue you'll see your name at the top of a list with Harry Potter characters... neat! Just continue to the next step, there's nothing to do here.

Now you should be seeing a list with usernames. You have to choose one of them. You can't create your own - this is to make sure no one uses an innapropriate or offensive name, or their real name. Pick the one you like best, complete the Captcha challenge and tick the 'terms and conditions' agreement box (you might want to read them first, there's some important stuff in there).

Congratulations! You've made your Pottermore account...

...only you can't quite start yet. You now have to wait for two e-mails. The first should come within minutes, the Activation e-mail. It has a link which you need to click and then you have to enter your password to activate your account.

Then the waiting for the second e-mail starts: the Welcome e-mail. That mail is what tells you that you can finally actually begin exploring Pottermore! It can take up to 24 hours for the Welcome mail to arrive though, so you'll have to practice your patience. I recommend getting to know the Pottermore Fan Forum community while you wait, there are loads of nice people and fun things to do which will make the hours fly by! Though chances are you don't have to wait, lately the sign-up process has been pretty much instant-access.

Once you have the welcome mail, go to Pottermore, sign in... and explore!

Which is what the next section is about.

EXPLORING POTTERMORE (EP)
After signing in for the first time, you'll get the "Welcome to Pottermore by J. K. Rowling" screen. Read through it if you wish, it's actually mostly just a few lines about what to expect. Would be better suited on the home page imho, but ah well xD

If you already know some usernames of friends you can find them here and befriend them. You can always do this later though, so if you just want to get on with exploring just click the big blue "Explore Pottermore" button.

This will bring you to the Gateway. As the purple banner which should have popped up explains, it's your Homepage which shows on which chapter you are. You can always return here by clicking the Pottermore logo at the top of the page. That's pretty much everything to do in this screen. Click the blue x button to close the banner.

Now let's talk a bit about what's on screen. At the top are several little dangling circles, most of them with a lock on them. This is the menu and the locks will open up as you progress through the chapters. At the moment you can only see three things:
-Trunk: this is where items you pick up will go to. It should be empty at the moment.
-Friends: this is where you can look at all your friends, add and remove friends, give them nicknames, accept friend requests... all that jazz ;)
-Favourites: this is where you can quickly get back to the things you've favourited during your exploration of Pottermore. It's divided by into the categories Characters, Creatures, Places, Objects, Potions, Spells and Chapters.
There's also an owl sitting on the menu. If there's a circle with a number in it next to it, you can click on it to see your notifications (actually you can always click on it, but there's nothing to see if the number's not there). It's really just notifications and not messages, as you can't send your friends any messages. Once again it's a child safety thing.
Underneath the Pottermore logo is a shield with a lock on it. When you get sorted this will show the crest of your house, but as you're not sorted yet it's still locked. You can click on it though and it will take you to your Profile. Your profile is basically just a summary of your Pottermore experience: it shows where you are in the story, what your username is, your avatar, how many House Points you've earned, your wand, how many notifications you have, your favourites, your friends, your drawings, the spells and spell books you have, your potions stuff and the items in your trunk. So, pretty much everything. It should still be quite empty for you though (at least if you've only just started and are following this walkthrough ;) )

The rest of the menu is still completely locked, so let's go back to the Gateway! If you've forgotten how; just click on the Pottermore logo. That'll take you where you need to be :)

The Gateway has a little welcome message which is not important. On the left you should see the Philosopher's Stone and some gold circles around it on the path to Chamber of Secrets. The first circle is a little bigger and has a yellow center. Click on that and a message pops out with the name of the chapter and a blue button "Explore Chapter 1". Click it!

HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE

CHAPTER 1: THE BOY WHO LIVED (PSCH1)
This takes you to Chapter 1. Pottermore is supposed to be experienced while you read the books, but you can just go through it without as well ;)
You should now be on a screen with a big red... how to call this... board? Let's go with board. A big red board. It has the chapter name, the first lines of the chapter as they are in the book, a link to the Pottermore Shop and a button to Favourite the chapter (with under it, how many people like it).
It also has a big blue Explore Chapter 1 button and (in this case) three images. These images are the Moments, which are the actual things you get to explore. Right now 'Something Peculiar is Happening' and 'Harry is Delivered' should be dark, while 'Number Four, Privet Drive' is clear.
To start exploring, click either the blue Explore button or the first Moment.

Number Four, Privet Drive (PSCH1.1)
Another little purple banner should pop up. It explains a bit about exploring moments; go ahead and read through it. Close it by clicking the blue X button.

If you've actually read the purple banner, you should know how to work these moments. You can zoom in and out by double clicking or using the arrow up/arrow down keys. The left hand of the screen has a little menu called Read About which will show different icons, some of which have a little quill in a red circle. This circle means there is something you can unlock in this moment. If you hover over it, you should see the name of whatever there is to unlock and if you haven't unlocked it yet, it'll have a little lock next to it.

In this case, there is only one hanging sign and one thing to unlock: Number Four, Privet Drive.

Before I tell you more about this moment, a bit more about exploring moments in general.
In the moments, objects and info is hidden. When you hover over certain objects on screen, they will glow purple - click the object when this happens! This will either unlock secret content or pick up an item to put into your trunk.

If the moments are slow for you, scroll down on the screen a bit. On the right hand side you can turn off the sound and put the quality to Low. The difference between low and high quality is mainly that the moments don't move left and right with your mouse. It can be a bit annoying at times, but it really does help reduce lag so if things are slow try it out.

Sometimes things happen when you hover over something or click on things. For example... move over the tabby cat sitting in front of the Privet Drive sign (you should know who this cat is!). She'll move her tail and purr :)

Now let's really get into this moment more!

Layer 1
The first layer only has McGonagall sitting there and the Privet Drive sign. McGonagall will purr and move her tail when you move your mouse over her. The Privet Drive sign will light up if you move over it. Click it to unlock Number Four, Privet Drive! Go ahead and read it or move on to get back to it later.
Once you're done, zoom in to the second layer.

Layer 2
This layer has the Dursley's car. If you move over it the windshield wipers will move, it'll honk and the lights will flash. That's all there is to this layer, so zoom in!

Layer 3
On the chimneys above the car are two birds. They'll fly away if you move your mouse over them. That's everything in this layer and you've finished the moment, so click the right arrow in the menu at the bottom of the moment!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Number Four, Privet Drive

Something Peculiar is Happening (PSCH1.2)
The second moment! One bit of extra info to unlock, so let's get cracking ;)

Layer 1
McGonagall is here again and she'll do the same as in moment 1. She's been joined by Dumbledore though and he's holding the Deluminator... which actually works if you move over it. Try it out! I haven't managed to turn the lights back on again though, but who needs light anyway :P
Dumbledore is standing next to the streetlight, which glows purple if you hover over it. Clicking it unlocks the Measurements extra info!

Layer 2
Nothing of interest.

Layer 3
Again nothing of interest. On to moment 3!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Measurements

Harry is Delivered (PSCH1.3)
When you first get to this moment another one of those purple banners pops up, telling you about your owl. I already explained it but you can read it through anyway, or just close it.

Layer 1
McGonagall (now in her normal human form) and Dumbledore are standing at the bottom, barely visible, looking up at the vague shape in the sky. That's it.

Layer 2
Some weird shape is lying on the rooftop straight ahead but I have absolutely no idea what it's supposed to be and it doesn't do anything either, so just move on to layer 3 xD

Layer 3
BrrrrrRRRRRRRRMMMMMM! Hagrid's (er, Sirius') bike makes noise when you zoom in, but doesn't do much else. There's a shooting star in the background being pretty but otherwise useless. Not the most exciting moment of Pottermore, but the art is pretty.

Click the right arrow in the bottom menu and you'll be at the end of the chapter!
Another one of those big red boards with the chapter title, store link and favourites button. This time it has the last lines of the chapter and links to the J.K. Rowling exclusive content you unlocked. You can also comment on the chapter and all the way at the bottom is a little link to go back to the start of the chapter.

Let's click on 'Measurements' for a bit so I can explain the extra content parts.

The top of the screen should now have a big back arrow, the extra content title in the midlle and another favourites button. The actual new content is in 'New from J. K. Rowling'. Hanging on that board is another comments board with drawings and pictures of it at the bottom. All the way at the bottom is the 'Add a drawing' button which is the only way of uploading drawings. I have no idea why that's not possible from within your profile page.
Anyway, next to the New from J. K. Rowling board is another, smaller board with "J. K. Rowling's thoughts'. If you click Read More you'll (surprise) get to read the whole text. Actually the J. K. Rowling's throughts and New from J. K. Rowling boards will just change place. Hanging from the smaller board is another board, 'Also in this chapter'. It's how you can quickly get to the other info which has to do with this chapter. Go ahead and read it all if you like, or click the right arrow in the bottom menu to go to the start of Chapter 2.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 2: THE VANISHING GLASS (PSCH2)
Two moments this time: The Cupboard Under the Stairs and The Trip to the Zoo.

The Cupboard Under the Stairs (PSCH2.1)
Another one of those purple banners, this time explaining about hidden items to collect. Read it and/or close it.

Poor Harry, such a small cupboard! Glad I'm not him...

Layer 1
The doors don't open, the light doesn't turn on/off and the plate sadly doesn't fall off the wall and shatter... would have been fun ;) So just zoom in to layer 2.

Layer 2
You'll hear the alarm clock tick, which is it's way of begging for attention. Give it that attention and you'll see it glow! Click it, click Collect and it'll go into your trunk. Congrats, your first item!
That's not all for this layer though. If you look at the signs on the left you'll see there's hidden content in this moment, called Vernon & Petunia Dursley. Which item on screen would unlock it I wonder... I bet it's the photograph on the little table ;) Click and read it if you wish.
If you move over the cord in Harry's Cupboard the light will turn on, showing what a mess it is. A spider is crawling over his sock and all the way at the top the meter keeps switching between 1531 and 4157. As far as I know no one has figured out if it has a meaning and if so, what that meaning is. Plenty of discussions going on about it though!
Now we're done with this layer, so zoom in.

Layer 3
This'll give you a peek into the spotless kitchen. Nothing else to do here though, so move on to the next moment.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Vernon & Petunia Dursley
Trunk items:
-Alarm Clock

The Trip to the Zoo (PSCH2.2)
The Reptile house! Some of the lights need replacing, they keep turning off and on...

Layer 1
Look at the snakes being pretty and zoom in.

Layer 2
A lizard will slither up on the right and the left seems to be empty. Zoom in.

Layer 3
Hovering your mouse over the Boa Constrictor makes it lift it's head and wink at you, and the glass will vanish if you keep your mouse there long enough. It won't slither away though. The plaque on the right of it is clickable and tells a bit about the Boa Constrictor. You can only get to this info from within this layer. You can click the x to close it :)

That's the end of the chapter!

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 3: THE LETTERS FROM NO ONE (PSCH3)
Two moments: Harry Receives a Mysterious Letter and The Hut on the Rock.

Harry Receives a Mysterious Letter (PSCH3.1)
Laundry, Lunch and Letters... the letters flying around can't be caught, but there's plenty to be found in this moment!

Layer 1
The Salt and Pepper on the table can be collected for your Trunk. What, don't you think the Hogwarts food will be seasoned enough? Or is this your petty way of getting a bit of revenge on the Dursleys, taking away their seasoning? Well, whatever, as long as you're happy with your salt and pepper ;)
After moving over them, the letters stuck in the fireplace will come bursting out! Still can't pick them up though.
I'd have liked a tase of the tea and toast, but alas they're stuck on the screen. Let's just zoom in then, shall we?

Layer 2
Take a look at the postcard on the fridge and pick it up. What a nice reminder that'll be of your wonderful life at the Dursleys... Zoom in to the last layer.

Layer 3
Pick up the hammer and nails and move on to the next moment!

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Salt and Pepper Pots
-Postcard from London
-Hammer and Nails

The Hut on the Rock (PSCH3.2)
Yet another purple banner! This time it's telling you about your profile, while the wind whistles and the waves crash against the rocks. Go ahead and check out your profile and come back, or just close the banner.

Layer 1
There are two shells on the rocks here. The left one will grow legs and scuttle away if you hover over it, but the right one can be picked up.

Layer 2
Well, isn't that water pretty.

Layer 3
The hut on the rock... what a desolate and wet place. The green bit on the bottom/right of the rock can be picked up (yay, seaweed). The light in the hut turns on if you move over it, but that's it for this moment.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Sea Shell
-Slimy Seaweed

CHAPTER 4: THE KEEPER OF THE KEYS (PSCH4)
Once again there are two moments. Hagrid Arrives and Harry Receives his Letter at Last.

Hagrid Arrives (PSCH4.1)
I sure am glad I don't live there! Enjoy the narration by Stephen Fry, by the way.

Layer 1
The lamp swings when you move over it and a spider occasinally drops down from the ceiling. One of the candles above the fireplace can be collected.

Layer 2
The paper on the floor unlocks Ghost Plots.

Layer 3
Hello Hagrid!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Ghost Plots
Trunk items:
-Candle

Harry Receives his Letter at Last (PSCH4.2)
CAKE! Sorry, I love cake. Don't mind me, just carry on ;)

Layer 1
The lamp still swings when you move over it. The letter on the couch is Harry's Hogwarts letter, go ahead and click on it to read it.

Layer 2
The sausages sizzle when you move over it and you can pick up the teacup. The candles above the fireplace turn on and off if you move over them as well.

Layer 3
Moving over the door opens it a bit but it doesn't do much. That's it!

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Old Cup

CHAPTER 5: DIAGON ALLEY (PSCH5)
Ah, the first really exciting chapter! This is where you get all your school supplies, including your wand! There's a lot to do, so let's get going!

There are four moments: Arriving at Diagon Alley, Harry and Hagrid Visit Gringotts, Harry Goes Shopping and Ollivanders.

Arriving at Diagon Alley (PSCH5.1)
Yet another purple banner. It welcomes you to Diagon Alley (why thank you, friendly banner!) and tells you you need to open your account at Gringotts, buy books and equipment. But before you do all that, you have to find your shopping list. I knew you'd lose it somewhere...

Layer 1
The third house on the left (starting from the one closest to you) has pretty lights in the window if you move over it. Pretty.... shiny... lights.... wait, what was I doing again? Oh, yes, of course, the guide. Right. On the right side is nothing but pretty shops. Let's walk on, shall we?

Layer 2
The wizards and witches move to the side a bit, revealing a suspicious scrap of paper on the floor, next to another group of magical folk. Is that what I think it is? Click it... why yes it is, it's your shopping list! How on earth did it get there?!
The second shop on the left is Madam Malkin's, which glows purple for some extra information: Clothing.

Layer 3
It's Gringotts! If you haven't picked up your shopping list yet there's nothing to do here. If you have picked it up though (as you should), you can click the door to go into Gringotts. It's actually the next moment, so it'll have the same effect as clicking the right arrow on the bottom menu.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Clothing
Trunk items:
-Shopping List

Harry and Hagrid Visit Gringotts (PSCH5.2)
How many of those purple banners are there? This one tells you about your Gringotts account. Read and close the banner.
No layers in this moment, just Gringotts. If you look at the bottom menu you'll see the right arrow is locked. This means there's something you really have to do in this moment before you're allowed to move on.
So what do you have to do here? Grab the key and drag it over the lock. Let it go and your account is opened! You should be given 500 Galleons. Now there is also a bit more info about Gringotts and a link to take you directly to Diagon Alley.

In the menu at the top, one of the locked circles has been opened up: Gringotts. Clicking that circle will take you back to this screen to look at your bank account.

Now, click on the right arrow on the bottom menu (it should be unlocked now) or click the blue Go to Diagon Alley button to go to the next moment.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Vault Key

Harry Goes Shopping (PSCH5.3)
As soon as you enter this moment, another menu item is unlocked: Diagon Alley. As you might guess, clicking it takes you back here to go shopping.

When you enter the moment your shopping list opens up. Read through it and close it or click 'Go Shopping'.

Diagon Alley is open to explore now! Once again there are no different layers, but there are arrows on the ground which you can click to go to other places of Diagon Alley. At least, once you've bought your stuff the South Side arrow opens up. In South Side is an arrow to Knockturn Alley, but that one's locked and won't open up during Philosopher's Stone...

So let's get shopping!

There are 8 shops in here plus Gringotts. Some of the shops are locked and will be throughout all of Philosopher's Stone. From left to right, the shops are:
-Potage's Cauldron Shop
-Apothecary
-Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment
-Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor (locked)
-Madam Malkin's (locked)
-(Gringotts)
-Eeylop's Owl Emporium & Magical Menagerie
-Quality Quidditch Supplies (locked)
-Flourish and Blotts
Clicking on any of the unlocked shops will take inside of them so you can purchase things.

Let's start by going to Potage's Cauldron Shop.

Potage's Cauldron Shop
Only three cauldrons to buy here:
 • Brass Cauldron, size 2 (21G)
 • Copper Cauldron, size 2 (25G)
 • Pewter Cauldron, size 2 (15G)
You'll need to buy the Pewter Cauldron. You can buy the other two as well (they'll brew potions slightly quicker) but you can also wait until you blow up your first cauldron.
Once you've bought your cauldron, click the Exit Shop arrow at the top left.

 • Wolfsbane (1G)
 • Bezoar (10G)
 • Unicorn Horn (21G)
 • Valerian Sprigs (1G)
You don't actually need to buy anything here. About half the things in here can be found in moments and the rest you should only buy if you actually need it for potions. You could of course go ahead and buy one of each if you wish, but remember you can't replenish your Galleons! (okay, there are a few to find in the moments, but those will only be there once and there really isn't another way of getting more Galleons until the next books!)

Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment
Page 1:

 • Globe of the Moon (13G)
Page 2:
 • Remembrall (14G)
Buy the Brass Scales, Brass Telescope and choose between Crystal Phials and Glass Phials. That's all you need here. Of course you can buy the rest as well, but they're useless so don't waste your Galleons on them unless you want everything Pottermore has to offer. Just don't buy the Remembrall even if you want everything.
Exit and go to Eeylops.

Eeylop's Owl Emporium & Magical Menagerie
Another purple banner! It explains that you should be careful in choosing your pet, as it will be your avatar and you'll never be able to change it. Close it and take a look at what they have to offer.
 • Barn Own (10G)
 • Brown Owl (10G)
 • Screech Owl (15G)
 • Tawny Owl (10G)
 • Black Cat (9G)

(More Pets)
 • Common Toad (5G)
 • Crested Toad (9G)
 • Harlequin Toad (9G)
 • Natterjack Toad (5G)
 • Western Green Toad (9G)
Take your time when choosing! Most people have either an owl or a cat so if you want to stand out you'll want to choose a toad. But it really comes down to what you want people to see on your avatar.
Once you've made your choice, go on to Flourish and Blotts.

Flourish and Blotts
 • A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration (1G)
 • Magical Drafts and Potions (2G)
 • One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi (2G)
 • The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1 (1G)
 • The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection (1G)
 • A History of Magic (2G)
 • Magical Theory (2G)
 • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2G)
Buy one of each. Exit the shop...

...and another one of those purple banners pops up. It says all you need to get now is your wand. Close the banner and go to Diagon Alley South Side!

Once again there are several shops here. From left to right:
-The Daily Prophet (locked)
-Whizz Hard Books (locked)
-Second-Hand Robes (locked)
-The Junk Shop (locked)
-Ollivanders
-Obscurus Books (locked)
-Gambol and Japes (locked)
-Twilfit and Tattings (locked)
The arrow to Knockturn Alley is still locked. In fact all you can do here is enter Ollivanders, where you'll get your wand!

Ollivanders (PSCH5.4)
Go ahead and read the text you get now. Once you've read it click the blue button. This will begin the Wand Selection quiz. Answer truthfully and take your time - you can't get another wand once you're done!

I'm not going to try to decipher which answers give you which results exactly - there are people on the internet doing exactly that. Maybe someday I'll add it, but not now. It's much more fun to answer the questions truthfully anyway, so you can really see which wand has chosen you!

Once you're done: Congratulations on your wand! Getting it unlocks information about Wand Cores, Lengths & Flexibility, Woods and some info on Ollivander himself. Once you're done reading (it's really quite interesting!) go on to the next chapter.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Wand Cores
-Wand Lengths & Flexibility
-Wand Woods
-Mr Ollivander

CHAPTER 6: THE JOURNEY FROM PLATFORM NINE AND THREE-QUARTERS (PSCH6)
Back to the two-moments-per-chapter thing... this time it's The Hogwarts Express and the Journey to Hogwarts.

The Hogwarts Express (PSCH6.1)
Ah, how wonderful to finally be there! The excitement of going off to that wonderful school on that brilliantly scarlet train... but before that, let's explore the station a bit, shall we?

Layer 1
It's a good thing that owl is in a cage or it would've gotten mauled by the cats already, judging by the looks on their faces! The animals all either make noise or move when moving over them. And if you mouse over the box standing between the trunk and the pile of books the dark cat is sitting on, a spider starts crawling out! Yikes... I hope it runs off to the Forbidden Forest as soon as we arrive at Hogwarts.
On the right is a bag with a Prefect's badge on it. Doesn't seem like a good idea to take it but you can, so why not... just don't go thinking this makes you a Prefect now, you hear? ;)

Layer 2
A big fat green toad is sitting in the middle of the screen. Click it to read about Toads! Also make sure to closely inspect (a.k.a. hover over and click on) the Hogwarts Express sign on the left to read about the Hogwarts Express.

Layer 3
The Platform Nine and Tree Quarters sign unlcoks, surprise, 'Platform Nine and Three Quarters'. That's it for this moment!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Toads
-The Hogwarts Express
-Platform Nine and Three Quarters
Trunk items:
-Prefect Badge

The Journey to Hogwarts (PSCH6.2)
Aaaaand another purple banner. It explains about Chocolate Frog cards. Read and close.

Layer 1
Wow, you really made a mess of the carriage. Make sure to clean it, you hear!
Hover over the trunk to make it open and reveal a Chocolate Frog card. Click it to collect it, it's the Dumbledore card. The Morgana card is on the seat on the right, so make sure to pick up that one as well.

Layer 2
The book page flips when hovering over it, but you can't do anything with it. The Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans lying next it it can be picked up though, so don't forget them :)

Layer 3
There's a third zoom layer, but the reason why is beyond me.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Bertie Bott's Every-flavour Beans
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Dumbledore
-Morgana

CHAPTER 7: THE SORTING HAT (PSCH7)
Yes, it's finally about to happen: your sorting! There are three moments, the last one being your actual sorting. Let's quickly go through the first two to get there ;) The moments are The Entrance Hall, The Sorting Ceremony and The Sorting Hat

The Entrance Hall (PSCH7.1)
This looks exactly as I has always imagined it. It was a bit creepy at first actually how close it was :O

Layer 1
On the fourth step of the staircase is a Galleon. Pick it up to collect it.

Layer 2
These paintings don't actually move :( Ah well, I suppose we can survive without the moving paintings ;)
Hidden to the right of the door to the Great Hall is McGonagall. Click her to unlock a really interesting bit about her backstory! The door to the Great Hall moves when you move over it, but that's it for this moment. On to the next!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Professor McGonagall
Other:
-Galleon

The Sorting Ceremony (PSCH7.2)
This moment starts with a message from J. K. Rowling. Close it after you've watched it and you'll see a 'message' from the Hat itself and the big button to try on the sorting hat (which takes you to the last moment)

Before you click it though, I want to say a few words on the houses.

You may be hoping for a certain house. Maybe you'll get sorted into that house, but maybe not. Whatever happens, remember: there is no such thing as a bad house. The sorting quiz really is quite good and I've seen plenty of people who were unhappy with their house at first, who love it now and feel perfectly at home, most even saying they've learned a lot about themselves thanks to their sorting.
Hufflepuffs aren't lame. They're amazing friends who will do anything to defend you when you're threatened. They can most likely prepare the best of meals and none of your plants will die with them around.
Slytherins aren't evil. They're smart, cunning and ambitious. They look after their own, yes, but that doesn't make them evil. I have never met a Slytherin whom I would actually call evil, and trust me; I've met loads of them (I am head of Slytherin house on PFF, after all...).
Ravenclaws aren't nerds. They're wonderfully smart and sometimes odd people (Luna Lovegood, anyone?). If you have a problem you can't solve try asking your Ravenclaw friends - they'll probably help you find a solution in no time!
Gryffindor... ah, Gryffindor. The house people want most because Harry and the gang were in it, only to be sorely disappointed to get the house they really belong in. Gryffindors aren't all heroic, good people - just think of what Peter Pettigrew did. Gryffindors are brave, chivalrous people- but they've had their share of bad eggs, just like all the other houses.

So if you get sorted into a house you didn't want... take your time to read the welcome message, meet some house mates and think about it. If after all that you still feel unhappy with your sorting, go ahead and make another account (make sure to delete the first one though - the Terms of Service don't allow multiple accounts!). Chances are you'll get the house you want to get- but don't be surprised if you get the same house as the first time.

Now go ahead and Try on the Sorting Hat!

(from this moment on the menu items Spells and Potions are available! You can click on them but you can't actually practice spells or brew potions yet, you have to get sorted first)

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

The Sorting Hat (PSCH7.3)
Read the message and click Begin to start the sorting quiz. Take your time to think about the questions and answer them honestly, that's the only way to get the house you really belong in. You'll get seven questions (the questions themselves differ). It is possible to be a Hatstall, which means you get to choose between two houses. I've personally seen a hatstall between two houses and I've heard of people having hatstalls between three houses, and once even a hatstall between all four!

After the sorting, go ahead to the next chapter or check out the Great Hall and your Common Room, which are now available in the menu. The shield is now also unlocked and shows your House crest - it still takes you to your Profile, of course.
All menu items are now unlocked. The very first circle is still locked and won't be unlocked until one of the next books (we do know what it'll be, though: a games hub).

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 8: THE POTIONS MASTER (PSCH8)
Ready to move on? Good, let's get going then! Three moments to this chapter: Harry's Early Days at Hogwarts, Harry's First Potions Lesson and Hagrid's Wooden House.

Harry's Early Days at Hogwarts (PSCH8.1)
A purple banner telling you the Great Hall is open pops up. Read and close.

Layer 1
Ah, the view of the corridors, the staircases, the paintings and the armours! That's all for this layer, though.

Layer 2
That galleon is about to fall off the edge, best save it by pocketing it, right? There's a Chcolate Frog card hidden very sneakily here. You see that landing closest to you? Go down one step, hover over it. It's actually a Vanishing step, under which the Circe card is hidden. It took me ages to find that one when I went through!
By the way, from now on all things you pick up (except galleons) give you a house point. Neat ^_^

Layer 3
The inhabitant of the painting on the right moves out of his frame when you move over him. The armour's helm opens when hovering over it, but he's not hiding anything. The book in the corridor next to him can be picked up though, it's Hogwarts: A History.

Checklist
Books:
-Hogwarts: A History
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Circe
Other:
-Galleon

Harry's First Potions Lesson (PSCH8.2)
...starts with yet another purple banner, asking you about your Potions skills. Read the banner and close it. If you wish you can practice brewing a potion now, the Cure for Boils. Practicing it won't take away any ingredients, but you won't get house points for it either. If you want to read more about brewing potions, check out the Potions section of this guide!

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

Hagrid's Wooden House (PSCH8.3)
Time to visit Hagrid! Quite a few things to find in this moment, too. Don't let Fang's growling scare you off, he's really quite nice.

Layer 1
Peeking out from behind the barrel is the Paracelsus Chocolate Frog card. There's some Wolfsbane to the left of that same barrel, collect it. Now move your mouse up from where you found it and you'll find some dried nettles. We're not done yet - in the right window stands a bottle of Dried Billywig stings for you to pick up. Also, Hagrid's door opens further when moving over it.

Layer 2
A sneak peek into Hagrid's hut. Only one bit actually looks sharp and it has two things: a home-made rock cake on the top shelf and an article about the Gringotts Break-in on the bottom shelf or table or whatever it is.

Layer 3
Layer 3 gives you nothing but a closer look at Hagrid's house. There's been plenty to find in this moment though, so I'm not complaining.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Rock Cake
Potions Ingredients:
-Wolfsbane
-Dried Nettles
-Dried Billywig Stings
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Paracelsus
Other:

CHAPTER 9: THE MIDNIGHT DUEL (PSCH9)
Three moments again: Flying Lesson, The Trophy Room and The Forbidden Corridor.

Flying Lesson (PSCH9.1)
What a wonderful day for a first flying lesson! And it's narrated! Yay!

Layer 1
Look at the three people at the front. The middle one is probably Hermione, who has a book for you to... eh... borrow: Quidditch through the Ages.

Layer 2
Nothing of interest here.

Layer 3
An intake of breath as Harry reaches for the Remembrall... but you can snatch it out of the air before he does to collect it.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Remembrall
Books:
-Quidditch through the Ages

The Trophy Room (PSCH9.2)
Tut tut, should you really be out of bed? Well, might as well find some things now that you're out anyway.

Layer 1
It's pretty obvious, but one if the cups in the left-hand cabinet holds a Chocolate Frog card, Salazar Slytherin.

Layer 2
The helm of the second armor opens up to reveal a Galleon, just for you!

Layer 3
The jar on the floor is a jar of eels' eyes (yuck) for use in Potions. Pick it up, it'll save you some Galleons ;)
Hidden in the shadows near the first armor is Mrs. Norris, who will tell you more about Familiars.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Familiars
Potions Ingredients:
-Eels' Eyes
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Salazar Slytherin
Other:
-Galleon

The Forbidden Corridor (PSCH9.3)
Of course, another purple banner. It tells you you need to cast a spell to open the door and it tells you a bit about Wizard's Duels (they're fun). It also explains how to cast spells. I explain this in the Dueling section of this guide, so if you're having trouble, take a look there.

Layer 1
Yep, it's a locked door alright. Click the door handle and the spell letters pop up. Cast it and the door opens!

Layer 2
What's that growling sound? And is that something moving in the shadows up ahead?

Layer 3
Oh, hello there Fluffy! No need to growl and drool all over me, I'm moving on already... (Man, that thing seriously needs a walk!)

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 10: HALLOWE'EN (PSCH10)
Once again three moments (it seems to be the new standard). Harry's Special Delivery, Charms Class and The Mountain Troll.

Harry's Special Delivery (PSCH10.1)
You get a peek at the first years' boys dorm. Messy, as expected!

Layer 1
Just zoom in :)

Layer 2
Everything's still blurry, so zoom in again.

Layer 3
Whew, that's better. The Nimbus 2000 is lying on the bed. Too bad you can't pick it up... you can read the letter in front of it though. Move over the lamp on the bedside table to turn it off. The bottom drawer also spits out a Galleon if you open it.

Checklist
Other:
-Galleon

Charms Class (PSCH10.2)
Of course you had to pick a seat at the back of the class.

Layer 1
Move over one of the quills to make it poke the student in front of you and eventually it'll combust.

Layer 2
If you look to the right, you can see between some students. There should be a Galleon lying there for you to pick up.

Layer 3
Where's Flitwick? Ah well, take a look at the blackboard saying Wingardium Leviosa. It'll unlock Hogwarts School Subjects.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Hogwarts School Subjects
Other:
-Galleon

The Mountain Troll (PSCH10.3)
Wow, what a mess! I sure am glad I'm not Filch...

Layer 1
Very obvious in the front, under the spilling stream of water, is a jar of bat spleens. Right. Just what I always wanted.

Layer 2
One of the taps is on. Moving your mouse over it turns it off. A Horned Slug should crawl up the wall on the left between some sinks, but I've noticed it's not always there. Pick it up if it's there, if it's not try refreshing or come back later (you might have to brew a Cure for Boils first). (thanks to SilverStrike30842 for correcting me on this, I had it in the third layer at first!)

Layer 3
Behind the jack-o-lantern, in the Troll's shadow, is the Hengist of Woodcroft Chocolate Frog card.

Checklist
Potions Ingredients:
-Bat Spleens
-Horned Slug
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Hengist of Woodcroft

CHAPTER 11: QUIDDITCH (PSCH11)
Yes, time for some quidditch! But first, homework. Can't forget about that. The two moments are called Charms Homework and The Golden Snitch.

Charms Homework (PSCH11.1)
Ah, the Gryffindor Common room. Should be home for you Gryffs, but for the others it probably feels as if you're intruding!

Layer 1
There's a book lying open right in front of you. Move over it to flip the page, allowing you to click the right page for The Original Forty.

Layer 2
Take a look at the window. On the left is a Galleon. The blue flame can be turned off by hovering over it.

Layer 3
A wonderful peek at Hagrid's cabin out on the grounds, covered in snow.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-The Original Forty
Other:
-Galleon

The Golden Snitch (PSCH11.2)
And another banner! It tells you you need to catch the snitch before you can move on. You really can't move on before catching it, the right arrow is turned off.

Layer 1
You can see (and hear) the snitch zooming around and occasionally a Bludger zooms by. Zoom in.

Layer 2
You're a little closer to the snitch, but you still can't quite get it!

Layer 3
Ah, there it is! Catch it to unlock the next chapter. If you're having trouble with it, choose one spot on it's course and stay there until it gets back to it. It might take a few times to get it, but you should be able to eventually. If that still doesn't work, try setting your quality to 'low' - that should make the snitch stay still on the screen, making it very easy to catch (thanks to Danul for this tip!).
You can also hover over the blue flame in the background to make it glow brighter.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Golden Snitch

CHAPTER 12: THE MIRROR OF ERISED (PSCH12)
So, what's your heart's desire? Perhaps it's finding out what the names of the three moments in this chapter are? Well then look no further, because it's The Library, Christmas at Hogwarts and The Disused Classroom! ...oh, it wasn't your heart's desire? Well, that's too bad for you then!

The Library (PSCH12.1)
I hope you like books, because you're about to get a whole lot of them.

Layer 1
As you can see, you're in the library. The first layer shows you one of the rows sharp, the rest is all blurry. There are some books on the shelves. Let's say the bottom row (pretty much black) is shelf 1. The first book, Important Modern Magical Discoveries, is on the middle of shelf 2. A Study of Recent Developments in Wizardry is on shelf 5, on the right (it sticks out a little). Zoom in.

Layer 2
Same system: the pretty much dark shelf on the bottom is shelf 1.
Shelf 2 holds Notable Magical Names of Our Time. The right side of shelf 4 holds Great Wizards of the Twentieth Century. Zoom in.

Layer 3
Two Three things to pick up in this layer. First: to the top left of the little sign is a Chocolate Frog card, Merlin. Next is some new info about a book, Curses and Counter-Curses. Let's say the three bookcases we've picked up things in so far are the three main bookcases. At the back there are two more, they're pretty dark. The first of them (counting from the three main ones) holds this book. If we count the rows from the top - they're a bit difficult to see, but it's possible - it's the 5th row. Somewhere on the right of this row should be the book :) Lastly, in the very last bookcase, very near the top, you can find the Book of Spells. It unlocks a trailer about the Book of Spells Playstation 3 game, and you'll have the book in your trunk!

Checklist

Books:
-Important Modern Magical Discoveries
-A Study of Recent Developments in Wizardry

Christmas at Hogwarts (PSCH12.2)
Christmas is a time for gifts, so another purple banner telling you about sending gifts pops up. It also explains you can give your friends nicknames.

Layer 1
The book on the bench can be picked up, it's Curses and Counter-Curses. It gives you more spells for Dueling!

Layer 2
Hover over the big firecracker on the corner of the table. It'll explode and give you a Wizard's Chess set. Mice appear from loads of places when hovering over them. There's a galleon near the edge of the table and next to the admiral's hat is a bottle of infusion of wormwood, a potions ingredient.

Layer 3
Hovering over the balloon makes it go up. The mistletoe to the right of the christmas tree gives you a bottle of Mistletoe berries for potions.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Wizard's Chess Set
Potions Ingredients:
-Infusion of Wormwood
-Mistletoe Berries
Books:
-Curses and Counter-Curses
Other:

Layer 2
Harry. Zoom in.

CHAPTER 13: NICOLAS FLAMEL (PSCH13)
Two moments again: Nicolas Flamel is Finally Revealed and The Hooded Figure.

Nicolas Flamel is Finally Revealed (PSCH13.1)
Back in the Gryffindor Common Room again!

Layer 1
Right off the bat you see a Chocolate Frog card on the table. You can't pick it up though, it's only decoration. The candle behind it goes on and off though and the chess set moves a bit.

Layer 2
The giant book is open on the seat thingy. The left page lets you read a small paragraph from the book telling you about the Stone and Flamel. The right page unlocks Nicolas Flamel.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Nicolas Flamel

The Hooded Figure (PSCH13.2)
A beautiful look at the Whomping Willow, the Hogwarts Grounds and the Forbidden Forest. And at the Hooded Figure.

Layer 1
The Whomping Willow moves about a bit. Now look at the Hooded Figure. To his right is a golden speck on the floor - it's a Galleon. Look at the middle between the figure and the galleon and move down a bit to find the Helga Hufflepuff Chocolate Frog card.

Layer 2
Forest.

Layer 3
More forest.

Checklist
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Helga Hufflepuff
Other:
-Galleon

CHAPTER 14: NORBERT THE NORWEGIAN RIDGEBACK (PSCH14)
Oh dear, Hagrid gets his pet dragon. Three moments: Hagrid's Secret, The Egg in the Fire and A Plan for Norbert the Baby Dragon.

Hagrid's Secret (PSCH14.1)
We're in the Library again and you know what that means: more books!

Layer 1
The book in front of Harry opens and closes and the light turns on and off. You see Ron sitting on the right side of the table. Just behind is chair, on the first row of books, is The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1. It's extra info, you already own the book itself, of course.

Layer 2
On the bottom shelf on the right, next to Ron's shoulder, is Modern Magical History. On the shelf above it, a little to the left, is Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland. Finally, on the shelf right above the lamp, is From Egg to Inferno, A Dragon Keeper's Guide.

Layer 3
Just Hagrid, sneaking about in the Library.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 1
Books:
-Modern Magical History
-Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland
-From Egg to Inferno, A Dragon Keeper's Guide

The Egg in the Fire (PSCH14.2)
Finally a look inside of Hagrid's Hut! And more narration. Whoo!

Layer 1
The dead birds hanging from the ceiling swing about when moving over them. The book on the table can be picked up, it's Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit.

Layer 2
Just more things swinging about when you move over them.

Layer 3
The kettle lets off some steam when you move over it. And you can pick up the egg. Yes, you can pick it up. And collect it. An illegal dragon egg. You should be expelled for that.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Dragon Egg
Books:
-Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit

A Plan for Norbert the Baby Dragon (PSCH14.3)
Time to get rid of little Norbert already. Poor Hagrid, he really loves that thing, huh?

Layer 1
Norbert's crate crashes about when you touch it. the effect from the cloak seems quite neat. Don't forget to open the door for a hidden Galleon.

Layer 2
Hello there, Harry and Hermione!

Layer 3
You see Charlie's friends in the distance and when you go to move over them, they come closer. That's it for this moment!

Checklist
Other:
-Galleon

CHAPTER 15: THE FORBIDDEN FOREST (PSCH15)
Hah, you've been busted! Serves you right for trying to keep a friend out of trouble. Wait, that doesn't sound right.
Two moments once again: Harry Becomes an Outcast and Into the Forbidden Forest.

Harry Becomes an Outcast (PSCH15.1)
Aaaaaand we're back in the library. Who are you, Hermione?!

Layer 1
As always, the lamp on the desk turns on and off. And there's a Galleon next to it, too. When hovering over a certain book in the bookcase (both the left and the right one) two books fly out and do a little dance.

Layer 2
Zooming in makes a book fly down and back up again. No, you can't quickly pick it up- trust me, I've tried. However, in the first non-blurred bookcase on the left, there's some extra info to find. Count to the seventh row from the top and find the last book on that row. It should be A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration!

Layer 3
Nothing here... no wait just kidding lol, there totally is. Three things in fact. See the pretty window? Of course you do, it's huge and bright blue. See the ledge under the window? Yes? Now look at the left corner of the ledge. Doesn't it look like there's something there? A Chocolate Frog card maybe? Bingo! It's Rowena Ravenclaw. Of course you'd find her in the library.
Next are two books, or rather extra info on them. First, One thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi. It's on the table in the distance (so not the blurred-out table from layer 1). There are some books standing on it - the book you want is the one that's leaning against the vertically standing ones.
The other book is The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection. The corners of the bookcases on the left from layer 1 and 2 form a little 'triangle' where the books from layer 3 are visible. In total, 5 rows are visible, though the top and bottom one only a little bit. It's in the middle row, on the right side (right next to the end of the bookcase).

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration
-One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi
-The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Rowena Ravenclaw
Other:
-Galleon

Into the Forbidden Forest (PSCH15.2)
Creeeepyyyyy but kinda pretty.

Layer 1
What a pretty toadstool! Pick it up, it's the Leaping Toadstool, useful for Potions. A spider scuttles about the spider web in the roots of the right tree when moving over it.

Layer 2
The bush on the left is Wolfsbane, a Potions ingredient. The silvery stuff is Unicorn blood which you can pick up. It gets added to potions but I don't see why you'd ever drink a potion which has Unicorn blood in it because it'll give you a cursed half-life... but whatever.

Layer 3
Okay this is creepy, especially with the sound effects. It's Voldemort drinking unicorn blood... yuck

Checklist
Potions Ingredients:
-Leaping Toadstool
-Wolfsbane
-Unicorn Blood

CHAPTER 16: THROUGH THE TRAPDOOR (PSCH16)
Yay, we're going through the trapdoor! We'll do so in three moments: The Winged Keys, The Chessboard Chamber and The Potion Puzzle.

The Winged Keys (PSCH16.1)
Wow, that's a lot of keys O_O No layers in this one, just the one key to find before you can move on, as the purple banner explains. At first it seems like a huge chaos but the keys actually stay relatively in one place. The one you need has bright blue wings and moves pretty slowly, it's a bit to the left of the middle of the screen. Pick it up to be able to move on. If you're having trouble try the same tricks as with the Golden Snitch: keep your mouse in one place on the screen, or set your quality to low to make the keys stay still on the screen (thanks again to Danul!).

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Winged Key

The Chessboard Chamber (PSCH16.2)
There's really nothing to do in this moment but listen to Stephen Fry. The black Knight moves forward in the first layer and in the third one the door becomes a blue-ish light when you move over it, but that's really it. On to the next moment.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

The Potion Puzzle (PSCH16.3)
Yes, you get to solve the puzzle yourself! The instructions are on the table and you can look at them however many times you wish. You can try the puzzle as many times as you wish as well, nothing will happen by selecting the wrong bottles. You need to find both the potion to move forward and the one to move backward. Take your time to solve it, or of couse read on here to find out the answer. When solving it just read the clues very carefully, and think logically!

If you want to solve the puzzle yourself, do not read this! Like the directions say, you need to select the two correct potions. I won't explain the reasoning behind it, it's much more fun if you do that yourself. The two bottles you need are the small light blue one (the third from the left) and the round purple one (the first on the right). Those will allow you to move on to the next chapter.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 17: THE MAN WITH TWO FACES (PSCH17)
GASP! It's Quirrel! That was sooooo unexpected! Well, it was the first time I read Philosopher's Stone, anyway. Three moments: The Philosopher's Stone, The Hospital Wing and The End-of-Year Feast.

The Philosopher's Stone (PSCH17.1)
It once again starts with a purple banner, this one telling you it's the last chapter of Philosopher's Stone. To be able to move on to Chamber of Secrets you'll have to find the Philosopher's Stone in this moment. Let's get searching, then!

Layer 1
Yeah, remember the book? Harry got the stone in his pocket. So, check his pocket... it's right there. Congrats, you found it! There's more to this moment though, so zoom in.

Layer 2
Quirrel will give you more information about himself when clicking him. His first name is apparently Quirinus. Quirinus Quirrell. QQ

Layer 3
Layer 3... has absolutely nothing. Okay the fire sputters a bit when you move over it but that's hardly exciting.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-The Philosopher's Stone
-Professor Quirrell

The Hospital Wing (PSCH17.2)
Little Harry, his first time in the Hospital wing, his nose hidden in a book. Seems like Hermione has a good influence on him.

Layer 1
A whopping amount of nothing can be found here.

Layer 2
One of the chairs next to Harry's bed has the Cliodna Chocolate Frog card on it. Yay.

Layer 3
In the windowsill stands a big blue bottle of Salamander Blood, which is only blue as long as you see it in the moment because it's actually red. It's a Potions ingredient. That's not the only potions ingredient here though, there's a very valuable (10 galleons worth!) Bezoar in the cabinet. And that's it, time for the Feast!

Checklist
Potions Ingredients:
-Salamander Blood
-Bezoar
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Cliodna

The End-of-Year Feast (PSCH17.3)
Slytherin won- oh wait no, Gryffindor did. Bummer. There's a message from J. K. Rowling, go ahead and look at it before you find the last few things. Those last few things are a Galleon on the floor in front of Dumbledore and the Godric Gryffindor card on the table right to the left of Dumbledore. And that's all to find in Philosopher's Stone!

Use the right arrow in the bottom menu to go to the end of the chapter. and with that, the end of Philosopher's Stone. On the end-of-chapter screen you can click the right arrow to go back to the Gateway.

Checklist
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Godric Gryffindor
Other:
-Galleon

HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS

Time for book 2! Exciting, exciting- let's get started right away! Click on the Chamber of Secrets logo (the snakes), and go to chapter 1 (remember, click on the first yellow circle thingy and then the big blue explore button).

CHAPTER 1: THE WORST BIRTHDAY (CSCH1)
The first chapter... the opening of the story, on a nice, bright, summer's day. Bet it's warm, too.

Moment 1: The Magic Word (CSCH1.1)
Moment 1 starts with a purple banner (at the moment), telling us only the first eleven chapters are available right now. Well, it's something, right? Click it away.

Layer 1
Oh dear, is that a picture of Dudley I see through the window? It really does look like a beach ball wearing a straw hat... Anyway, see that huge plant hanging there? Click it! You'll get Flower Heads, which is a potions ingredient.

Zoom in to open the door and get to layer 2.

Layer 2
Ah, this looks somewhat familiar. Except now there's a lumpy pillow sitting in the kitchen- oh wait, it's your cousin. Whoops.
Anyway. Seems like the cupboard is locked, it rattles when you move over it. Nothing else to do in this layer.

Layer 3
Layer three gives a closer look at the kitchen. There's a jar sitting on the counter in the back; click it to collect the Honey! It can be used in potions apparently, it gets added to your ingredients. And it tastes nice on toast.
...now I want toast with honey.

And that's it for moment 1! Click the right arrow on the navigation at the bottom to move on to moment 2. Come back here once you've found the Hairpin to get some more stuff, though!

Layer 2 Revisited
Once you have the hairpin (CoS chapter 4 moment 4), the door to the cupboard is open. The numbers from Philosopher's Stone are gone and the light doesn't turn on again. However, there's a Chocolate Frog Card: Cornelius Agrippa! On the shelf below it is a small dot. Click it to get the Sprout-Flavoured Bean.

Checklist
Items:
-Bertie Bott's Sprout-Flavoured Bean
Ingredients:
-Flower Heads
-Honey
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Cornelius Agrippa

Moment 2: Two Enormous Green Eyes (CSCH1.2)
Ah, poor Harry sitting on the bench, sad about his birthday... Dudley's new (not yet broken) racing bike is standing against the garden shed.

Layer 1
Nothing to see here, move along!

Layer 2
Hover over the shed door to open it, and cover your ears, the lawnmower is NOISY! There's a pair of pruning shears lying next to the lawnmower (on a shelf) which you can collect.
Zoom in.

Layer 3
Eep, those eyes! I wonder what- eh, who that is ;) If you can't see them, click on the little hole/dark spot in the hedge.
Pick up some leaves in the wheelbarrow. They're actually Dried Nettles, a potion ingredient. Neat! Next to the tree, one of the roses gives you Rose Thorns (ingredient). It's the big rose that's sort of sticking out a bit.

That's it!

That's also the end of chapter 1 - on to the next one!

Checklist
Items:
-Garden Shears
Ingredients:
-Dried Nettles
-Rose Thorns

CHAPTER 2: DOBBY'S WARNING (CSCH2)
Wherein we meet Dobby and prevent him from hurting himself in our presence. Or at least attempt to.

Moment 1: Dobby the House-Elf (CSCH2.1)
AWWWW! DOBBY! Yep, the first thing I did here was squeal, of course.

Layer 1
Don't think there's anything to get here, so zoom in.

Layer 2
Nothing to get here... except a Chocolate Frog card. Move over your bed and pretend to throw back the cover to find it. Collect, it's the Newt Scamander card!
And that's it for the moment, no third layer, so go on! But not after playing with Dobby's ear. Must do that.

Checklist
Chocolate Frog cards:
-Newt Scamander

Moment 2: Aunt Petunia's Pudding (CSCH2.2)
Pudding floating! No really, you get to keep the pudding afloat for 14 seconds. Or at least attempt to. You need to do it in order to move on, anyway.
It's not very difficult, really, you just have to click it repeatedly. Don't get distracted by Dobby's cuteness though.
After 14 seconds the pudding crashes to the floor, the view pans down to see the damage you've done. You look back up to see... Dobby's gone.
You get to move on to the next moment and you're rewarded with Bertie Bott's Sugared Violet-Flavoured Bean.

That's it for chapter 2! On to the next one...

Checklist
Items:
-Bertie Bott's Sugared Violet-Flavoured Bean

CHAPTER 3: THE BURROW (CSCH3)
Ooh, we get to see the Burrow for the first time, I can hardly wait! Always wanted to go there...

Moment 1: Harry's Escape (CSCH3.1)
Whoo, go Harry! Go Ron! Go Fred! Go George!

Layer 1
Click the flying Ford Anglia. It'll unlock new info: Technology. Zoom in to...

Layer 2
...zoom out. Caught me off guard for a moment, haha! There's some beans lying around. On the bookshelf above Harry's bed, to the right, is the Baked Bean Flavoured Bean. On Harry's bed is the Pepper-Flavoured Bean. Next is right beside Harry's shoe on the cabinet, it's the Chocolate-flavoured bean.
Now, turn on the light that's fallen on the floor. That reveals another bean on the side of the upturned chair, it's Toast-Flavoured. Turning on the light revealed another thing right next to the lamp, the Bertie Bott Chocolate Frog Card.

On to layer 3!

Layer 3
Roarr! Vernon attempting to be fierce... I lol'ed, actually xD That's all there is to do here - on to the next moment!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Technology
Items:
-Bertie Bott's Baked Bean-Flavoured Bean
-Bertie Bott's Pepper-Flavoured Bean
-Bertie Bott's Chocolate-Flavoured Bean
-Bertie Bott's Toast-Flavoured Bean
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Bertie Bott

Moment 2: The Weasleys' (CSCH3.2)
Pretty nice view, eh? 'COS 207'... Chamber of Secrets 207? Or it's just a license plate with no meaning. I wonder.

Layer 1
Nothing but the flying car and a lot of trees. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

Layer 2
Preeettyyyyy sunriiiiise... er, what was I doing again? Oh, right. Right. There's nothing here. Zoom.

Layer 3
There's some Horklump juice in the Weasleys' garden. How do you pick it up from here? I don't know. I really don't. Unless it's underage magic...
That's it, so move on to the next moment.

Checklist
Ingredients:
-Horklump Juice

Moment 3: De-gnoming the Garden (CSCH3.3)
Entering the moment opens a book with instructions about de-Gnoming the garden. The instructions are clear enough, I think, so go ahead and give it a try! It's fun but difficult with a slow computer... yes, I threw one backward. Letting the Gnomes go around about 5 times gives a nice distance but gives you enough time to try again to get the required 4 gnomes.
The reward I got was 'Gilderoy Lockhart's Guide to Household Pests'... just what I was hoping for... not xD Anyway, there are no other items to get here.

Checklist
Books:
-Gilderoy Lockhart's Guide to Household Pests

CHAPTER 4: AT FLOURISH AND BLOTTS (CSCH4)
Ah, the journey to Diagon Alley! And the last chapter until the rest is released. Let's hope it's soon!

Moment 1: Letters from School (CSCH4.1)
Oh dear, this'll be interesting. You have to click the letters in the right order and supposedly it reflects the order in which breakfast items were mentioned in the book.

The opened letter is from Hermione (too bad they didn't actually hand-write it, though). You can read it, but not collect it. Now on to the envelopes...

Let's label the envelopes. From the top left to the top right is 1, 2 and 3. Under that are 4 (left) and 5 (right). The bottom one is 6.

First click the fifth letter.
Next, click the fourth letter.
Then click the third letter,
followed by the sixth letter.
The first letter is next
and finally, the second letter.

So, to recap, the order is 5-4-3-6-1-2.

That makes the empty bowl scoot over to reveal the second-year shopping list, which gets added to your trunk. And your second-year allowance has been deposited into your Gringotts account, apparently. 150 brand new Galleons. Neat!

Checklist
Items:
-Second-Year Shopping List
Other:
-Galleons (automatically added to Gringotts)

Moment 2: Floo Powder (CSCH4.2)
Time to travel! Not through time, though. Just space. But it's through a fireplace. Anyway, let's get started. No layers in this one.

Lots of books, a pile of laundry, a cauldron - oh how I love this sight. I could look at it all day. Maybe I'll make it my desktop background, haha!
Anyway, look at the pile of laundry and hover over it. Between the green and the blue cloth is a chocolate frog card, Ignatia Wildsmith.
Now look at the other side of the fireplace. Between the hearth and the cauldron is a pair of Fire Tongs to collect. Above that is a Scullery Key.
Well, now that we have those, let's look above the fire, at all the books. Let's start at the right, for a change. The first pile of books has nothing. The next pile's top book is Enchantment in Baking. Looking a little bit further left you can see a book leaning against the others. Pick it up, it's Charm your own Cheese. Charming...
Next pile of books, the one the cheese book was in front of, has nothing. The one next to it, however, has One Minute Feasts - It's Magic. Sounds tasty... collect!
That's it for the books. However, all the way to the left is the jar of Floo Poweder which you can interact with. Click to interact and throw it into the fire! Really make sure it touches the flame, letting go of it above the fire won't do anything. If you do it right, everything'll turn green and you'll collect the Floo Powder. Now you can move on.

Checklist
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Ignatia Wildsmith
Items:
-Fire Tongs
-Scullery Key
-Floo Powder
Books:
-Enchantment in Baking
-Charm your own Cheese
-One Minute Feasts - It's Magic

Moment 3: Borgin and Burkes (CSCH4.3)
Oooh, I love the creepy atmosphere. And I realise that might make me a bit creepy, too.
In any case, let's get started!

Layer 1
See that bell on the counter? Hover over the drawer below it. There should be some Galleons to pick up! Five of them, which is nice.

Layer 2
Oh hey, Malfoy Sr. and Jr. are standing at the door there. Well, see those masks on the right? Click the one with the long pointed nose to collect it. Oh and careful, the skull in the shadows there bites.

Layer 3
There's a jar of Dragon Liver in the right window, around the middle. And the Hand of Glory is creepy. Let's get out of here.

Checklist
Items:
-Mask
Ingredients:
-Dragon Liver
Other:
-Five Galleons

Moment 4: Lucius Malfoy (CSCH4.4)
Whew, it was fun at first but I'm glad we're out of there.... Let's meet Mr. Malfoy, now!

Layer 1
Witches, witches everywhere... at least they have a few things we can- er, steal. BAD! Bad Harry!
The basket has Peppermint, an Ingredient. The witch with the long hair and the bun has something for you as well... in her bun... a hairpin 'useful for picking locks'. Wow. You're really going bad, huh? Well, let's ignore that for a moment and zoom in.

Layer 2
Yep, that blonde wizard's Lucius Malfoy! Click him to unlock 'The Malfoy Family' extra info.
The book in the window is collectable. It is, of course, Magical Me. Now, see that red-haired wizard, Arthur Weasley? Look to the left of his head. About half an inch. There's a tiny little rectangle which can be clicked. It's the Miranda Goshawk Chocolate Frog card.
Oh and the book that's flying between Arthur and Lucius is An Encyclopedia of Toadstools.

Go on to Chapter 5 once you've collected everything!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-The Malfoy Family
Ingredients:
-Peppermint
Items:
-Hairpin
Books:
-Magical Me
-An Encyclopedia of Toadstools
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Miranda Goshawk

INTERLUDE: SHOPPING (CSDA)
Actually, let's hold on for a moment. Now that we're supposedly in Diagon Alley anyway, let's pick up our new school supplies. It's actually not a requirement to go on to the next moments. But if you want to go shopping for ingredients or whatever else, you'll have to get the stuff from your list first anyway, so might as well get it done now. So, click the Diagon Alley circle in the header navigation.

All you really need is a set of books, so go to Flourish and Blotts. Move to page 2 for the books and buy one of each.

Flourish and Blotts
Page 2

If you like having all Potions ingredients, you'll also want to visit the Apothecary (it's the only other shop which has new items to buy). Some will be collectable in later chapters, however, so I recommend not getting any yet. Still, here's a list.

Now you can really move on to chapter 5!

CHAPTER 5: THE WHOMPING WILLOW (CSCH5)
You know what's coming, right? That poor car...

Moment 1: Flying to Hogwarts (CSCH5.1)
This moment is... rather different from the moments we've encountered so far. Zooming in doesn't zoom in. Nope. It moves the car forward! Told you it was different. There are quite a few of these layers, but half of them are just clouds where there's nothing to do but move forward, so it's really less than it seems. Really it's only three layers, like always.

Layer 1
Don't get ahead of yourself by zooming in, though. There's something to get right here on this first 'layer'! That building with the upside-down-cross-shaped glass roof is King's Cross Station. Click it! It unlocks 'King's Cross Station' info! That's it for this layer, so double click anywhere on the moment to fly onwards. Double click again to pass the clouds into Layer 2.

Layer 2
Ah, the British countryside! And the butt of the Hogwarts Express, right at the top of the moment. It disappears into your hosue crest. There's nothing to do with it though, so I don't know why I mentioned that. There is something else in here though! To the right of the flying car is a purple-ish field. Two trees make a little dark spot on that field. Hover over that dark spot/the trees and a small area should glow purple. Click to collect Root of Aconite!
The car itself also picked up something along the way. On the right-side headlight is a squashed dragonfly. Collecting it will add Dragonfly Thoraxes to your potion ingredients.
And that's it, move on past the next clouds!

Layer 3
Seems like we're starting to catch up with the Hogwarts Express! There are two ingredients to collect here, but they're a bit tricky to find.
The first is located to the bottom right of the car's bottom right corner. It's a bit more to the right than to the bottom. The river has a tiny little line that goes soutward there. Hover over the end of that, a bit to the left of it. Really only a bit. Clicking there will give you some Valerian Sprigs.
That's one down, one to go. Look at the Hogwarts Express. Counting from the end, go to where the third and fourth carriage join up. Move a little to the right of that, until you're under the weirdly shaped bend in the river. Clicking there gives you some Lavender!
That's it for this layer. Double click and... watch the car fly off without you. Yep, that's the end of the Moment. Next!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-King's Cross Station
Ingredients:
-Root of Aconite
-Dragonfly Thoraxes
-Valerian Sprigs
-Lavender

Moment 2: Crash Landing (CSCH5.2)
Poor car, poor willow, poor ron... and poor you, stuck in the car with them! Let's get this over with as quickly as we can, shall we? This moment is a bit different again as well, it's not really divideable into layers. So I'm going to describe it a bit differently. Double clicking once again doesn't zoom in or out, instead it makes the willow whomp you. Then why double click, you ask? Well duh, this is Pottermore, it'll make something happen of course!

At first, nothing happens. Double click once and the willow whomps you and cracks the windshield. Double click again to make it whomp you again, this time cracking the window even more and opening the glove compartment. In the glove compartment are some toffees, of which you can collect one, and the Joscelind Wadcock Chocolate Frog Card. Double click again, this time the rear-view mirror falls off. Another double click makes the car start again. Now double click to make the car back up. On the right-hand side a little plant should be visible now, right above the car's right headlight. That's Fluxweed, an ingredient you'll need! So make sure to get it. Some people have trouble collecting it; if this happens to you, make your browser window bigger. If you can't, make your screen resolution bigger (you can always put it back the way it was). That should do the trick.
No amount of double clicking will get you anywhere else now, so move on to the next moment!

Checklist
Ingredients:
-Fluxweed
Items:
-Toffee
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Joscelind Wadcock

Moment 3: Snape's Office (CSCH5.3)
Ooooh, Snape's office! And sandwiches!

Layer 1
First, before you do anything else, go crazy on the platter of sandwiches. No seriously, click them all. Omnomnom. It doesn't actually do anything, but it's just too much fun to see them disappear. What, you say it's boring and I should just get on with the guide? Fine, fine. Party pooper. Anyway, just zoom in, 'cause there's nothing else to do in this layer but eat sandwiches.

Layer 2
Some things in jars move when you mouse over them. Ew. Take a look at the bottles on the right-hand side, specifically those on the second and third shelves from the bottom. All the way on the left of the second shelf is a bottle of Spines of Lionfish. On the third shelf, a bottle to the left of some white thing that looks like a horn, is a small bottle of Eels Eyes. Can't leave the potion master's office without ingredients, now can we?

For now that's all to do here. Once you've successfully brewed a Swelling Solution, however, come back to the office to collect a few more things. You'll see that the desk is empty and the door to Snape's private storeroom is open, ready for you to break in.

Layer 3
After brewing a Swelling Solution, the storeroom is open. You'll see a shelf in there on the left. The top shelf has Bicorn Horn, the bottom one has Boomslang Skin. You'll need them, so make sure to get them!

Checklist
Ingredients:
-Spines of Lionfish
-Eels Eyes
-Horn of Bicorn
-Skin of Boomslang

CHAPTER 6: GILDEROY LOCKHART (CSCH6)
Howlers, herbology and pixies. Well, this promises to be a fun chapter! Let's jump right in!

Moment 1: Ron Receives a Howler (CSCH6.1)
Poor Ron... he did deserve it though. I gotta say, all that breakfast looks delicious! But we can't pick up any of it! This is another chapter where you just have to double click, this time you have to click on the howler instead of just anywhere on the screen. First of all though: between the sugar and the tea is a little grey feather. Collect it.
Now, let's start double clicking the howler! It starts smoking, then it explodes into Mrs. Weasley's screaming, then it burns up! And that's it. All in all not one of the most exciting moments on Pottermore.

Checklist
Items
-Grey Feather

Moment 2: Herbology (CSCH6.2)
Ooh yeah, Mandrakes! Quite as ugly as I'd imagined them. Their scream doesn't seem at all dangerous though- then again, this is still just a baby. In any case, let's see what there is to get in here. By the way, I've noticed this moment can be incredibly slow, so if you're having trouble, set the quality to low for a bit.

Layer 1
Well as it turns out, layer 1 doesn't have all that much to offer. The Venomous Tentacula on the left creeps up on you if you move over it, but that's it so zoom in!

Layer 2
Don't click any earmuffs yet! You can collect a pair, but as you can see there are different colours. You can't change the colour of the earmuffs you picked, so decide carefully. Then again they're just earmuffs, but I'm stuck with a fluffy pink pair because I thought those were the only ones you could pick up...
So, pick a pair and collect.
Now there's quite a lot to collect in here, so let's go from left to right. In front of the leftmost table, on the floor, is a bag of what seems like fertilizer. A black thingy is sticking out of it. Those are Bat Wings, a potions ingredient. Collect and move your attention to what's on the table. You should see a pair of gloves; click them to get the Protective Gloves.
Between the two tables is a dancing plant. It dances. On the floor in front of it are two bags. The bigger bag a bit to the back is Dragon Dung Compost, which you can collect. The bag in front of that has a gardening tool sticking out of it. Click to collect the Small Trowel.
Next, we look at what's on top of the table on the right for the last collectable in this moment. Next to the dancing plant, to the left of the blue one with the big leaves, is a Valerian plant. As you might guess, it yields a clipping of Valerian Sprigs.
And that's it! On to the next moment, your first Defence Against the Dark Arts class with Professor Lockhart!

Checklist
Items
-Earmuffs
-Protective Gloves
-Dragon Dung Compost
-Small Trowel
Ingredients
-Bat Wings
-Valerian Sprigs

Moment 3: Cornish Pixies (CSCH6.3)
Yes, another minigame! Get the pixies back into the cage, with the use of your wand. And do it in the alotted time.
It's more difficult as it might sound, poking the pixies with your wand moves them a bit oddly. It takes getting used to, and you don't exactly have a lot of time to finish all ten of them. What works best for me is trying to get the whole group together, so they're movable as one.
If you can't get all of them in the cage in the allotted time, don't worry. You can retry. If you get 1, 2 or 3 pixies, you get the message that you didn't catch any. If you get 4, 5, 6 or 7 in the cage, you get a Well Done message, but also the prompt to try again. Getting 8, 9 or 10 pixies will award you with the Dymphna Furnage Chocolate Frog Card.

By the way, you can pause the game by going to another tab in your browser.

Checklist
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Dymphna Furnage

CHAPTER 7: MUDBLOODS AND MURMURS (CSCH7)
In which Ron vomits Slugs, Draco shows off his team's broomsticks and you get accused of writing on the wall with blood. Fun times!

Moment 1: Quidditch Practice (CSCH7.1)
Let's fly! Or not. Slytherin got there before you, they need to train their seeker. As the note in the captain's pocket will tell you. No layers this time, double clicking does absolutely nothing.

Draco seems to be having fun! Gotta admit it's kinda funny, having a wand backfire like that. Oh hey, wait, near Draco's hand, under the captain's robe flap - is that a Chocolate Frog Card? Why, yes, it is! It's Bowman Wright, to be precise!
And what's that pretty little plant? It's Knotgrass - an ingredient you'll definitely need.
By the way, click on Draco. It'll unlock info, Pure-Blood. Very interesting!
Now let's finally look at poor Ron, sitting there on the grass, vomiting slugs. That's quite a pile already. Hover over it - one of the slugs lights up. Click to get a horned slug! Wait, he's vomiting horned slugs? Now THAT must hurt.

That's the only layer to this moment, so move on to the next one!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Pure-Blood
Ingredients
-Knotgrass
-Horned Slug
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Bowman Wright

Moment 2: Lockhart's Office (CSCH7.2)
Time for your detention! Even looking away from you Lockhart looks quite smug... Again no layers, but double clicking changes the time of day/night.

Let's start by inspecting what there is to get. You can get a Signed Photograph off the huge pile for the collection of junk in your trunk. Then on the other side of the desk is a bottle of Lilac ink and in front of that, a Peacock Quill. Lastly, Lockhart is standing on a Chocolate Frog Card, Bridget Wenlock.

Double clicking makes it quite a bit darker, the pile of envelopes is halved and the bottle of ink Harry was using looks empty. And he is significantly more bored. Lockhart is still standing there looking smug. Another double click makes it really dark, and Harry looks like he hears something. And he's almost finished with the pile of pictures, there's only one left. More double clicking goes back through the cycle, and so on. So, just move on!

Checklist
Items
-Signed Lockhart Photograph
-Lilac Ink
-Peacock Quill
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Bridget Wenlock

CHAPTER 8: THE DEATHDAY PARTY (CSCH8)
Party time! Not the most exciting party ever of course, but a party is a party, so enjoy!

Moment 1: Nearly Headless Nick's Party (CSCH8.1)
Nick is floating there, inviting you inside. I have to say he looks quite a bit better than I'd always imagined him.

Layer 1
This layer has... nothing but pretty art. Move inside!

Layer 2
Have a good look at what you're giving up your Halloween for! Some dead nuns, a few knights, old-fashioned-looking ladies and gentlemen, horrible music and food. Yep, sounds like fun!
Like with layer 1, there's nothing to do here, so zoom in.

Layer 3
Quite obvious on the table is a Jet Black Candle to collect. Move over the bottom left corner of the tablecloth to lift it up and reveal a Galleon. Then move over the middle of the table to make Peeves peek out from under it. Click him to unlock the new Peeves info!
Now the party's over, time to head back to your Common Room!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Peeves
Items
-Jet Black Candle
Other
-Galleon

Moment 2: Enemies of the Heir, Beware (CSCH8.2)
Oooh boy, you've been found at the worst place at the worst time. That should teach you not to follow strange voices!

Layer 1
I know the bag against the wall is very tempting, but hang on a moment. You may not see it, but there are some things to collect in layer 1, of which one is really important. Actually, let's start with that one. You see some students, it's almost as if you're one of them. Right in front of you is a short seemingly blond boy (Malfoy?). Next to him is a taller maybe red-haired boy. He has a bit of hair kinda sticking out at the top. Click it. Yes, that's hair of a Slytherin student and if you've read Chamber of Secrets, you'll know why you need it! Oh yes, that's right. All in due time, though.
Now, the students look quite dark. However, there are two items hidden in that darkness. If you look at the left of the little group, there should be one student standing pretty close to you. Put your mouse on his cheeck and slowly move down. You should stumble upon some Droobles Best Blowing Gum.
Now, look at the student whose hair you stole. Look two students to the left of him. Put your mouse in the middle of the second student's hair and move down. That will get you to a Liquorice Wand.
With those safely secured, zoom in!

Layer 2
Go ahead, collect the bag of Galleons. You deserve it, after all that hard work. Don't go on yet, there's one more thing to collect. Look at Hermione. Now look at her feet. Now look to the right of that. If you can't, make your browser window a bit bigger. There's a Cauldron Cake on the floor there. I wouldn't eat it if I were you, but hey, who am I to stop you!
Oh and take a look at the message. It's all shiney and stuff.

Checklist
Items
-Droobles Best Blowing Gum
-Liquorice Wand
-Cauldron Cake
Ingredients
-Slytherin Student's Hair
Other
-5 Galleons

CHAPTER 9: THE WRITING ON THE WALL (CSCH9)
History of Magic class, and then you get to meet Moaning Myrtle! Sounds like fun...

Moment 1: The Legend of the Chamber of Secrets (CSCH9.1)
Why you start with a huge view of the blackboard is beyond me, but let's just go with it.

Layer 1
That Bertie Bott's bean is quite obvious, but it's in the next layer so we'll have to wait a moment. Click on Professor Binns (yeah, the ghost) to unlock the Hogwarts Ghosts info. Now zoom in- er, out.

Layer 2
Yes, get that bean. It's- er, Sardine flavoured. Well, if it's what you like... I'd give it to the nearest cat, though. On the other side of the desk is a book, it's Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century. Collect it. In the corner of the classroom is another bean, this one Liver and Tripe flavoured. Well. Another one for the cat. You've probably already spotted the Galleon under Binns' desk, but you can't get it... unless you zoom out.

Layer 3
So, get that Galleon. Also make sure to take Hermione's Quill. Or not, but it'll get you a House Point so why not. She probably has a spare. Also go ahead and steal Dean Thomas' homework scroll, because of course you forgot to do it yourself. For the record, he's the student next to Hermione gazing out the window.
And that's it, on to the ladies' room!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Hogwarts Ghosts
Items
-A Bertie Bott's Liver and Tripe-Flavoured Bean
-A Bertie Bott's Sardine-Flavoured Bean
-Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century
-Quill
-'The Medieval Assembly of European Wizards' Homework Scroll
Other
-Galleon

Moment 2: Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom (CSCH9.2)
Wow the place is dirty. I think I spot something in the mirror... let's clean it up a bit. Click and drag your mouse all over the mirror. Yep, you're doing Filch's job.

Layer 1
Ah, that's better. Now you can actually see that layer 1 has nothing to offer!

Layer 2
Neither does layer 2.

Layer 3
Now finally get that thing lying on the floor. No, it's not that, it's just a leech. What, you never have leeches in your bathroom? Huh.
Click the doors to the two rightmost stalls. The one all the way to the right has Moaning Myrtle. And on the toilet seat is a Bogey-flavoured bean. EW! Don't even think/i] of putting that in your- oh my god, how can you eat that?!
Well, er, just go ahead into the next stall to get the Galleon. And then go brush your teeth or something before you go on to the next chapter. Don't forget the mouthwash.
I've noticed some difficulty with opening the doors and I'm not really sure how to solve it, to be honest. Sometimes coming back to the moment later helps. There doesn't seem to be a certain trigger for it though, so just revisit regularly if it's buggy for you.

Checklist

Items
-A Bertie Bott's Bogey-Flavoured Bean
Ingredients
-Leeches
Other
-Galleon

CHAPTER 10: THE ROGUE BLUDGER (CSCH10)
Ahahaa, this is where the bad times really start. Dobby tries to kill you, a basilisk tries to kill everyone else, so all in all there's a lot of love going around.

Moment 1: Moste Potente Potions (CSCH10.1)
As the name implies, you'll get the potion book in this moment. So let's get on with it.

Layer 1
Yep, that's the book. Click the permission slip to get the book. This will allow you to start brewing the Polyjuice Potion - if you have the ingredients, that is. We'll get to brewing the potion later. First, zoom in.

Layer 2
The drawer opens when you move over it, but there's nothing in there. The trash can, however, is a treasure trove of sweet goodness. The black crumpled thingy is actually a Chocolate Frog Card, Beatrix Bloxam. She wrote some nasty children's books. The orange bean is the Curry-flavoured bean, and the white one is Coconut flavoured. That's not too bad. Now go on to the Quidditch match.

Checklist
Items
-A Bertie Bott's Curry-Flavoured Bean
-A Bertie Bott's Coconut-Flavoured Bean
Books
-Moste Potente Potions (Potions book)
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Beatrix Bloxam

Moment 2: Harry's Broken Arm (CSCH10.2)
Ah, Harry's kinda just hanging there with his broken arm, about to fall. Ouch.

Layer 1
Nothing to do here, move along.

Layer 2
Er, nothing to do here either. Right. On we go.

Layer 3
....Oh, nothing here either. Well. Getting to this moment did unlock some new info about Draco Malfoy, so just go ahead and read that to make this moment less useless.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Draco Malfoy

Moment 3: Colin is Petrified (CSCH10.3)
Poor Colin, all he wanted was a photograph! Well at least he's not dead.

Layer 1
My, what commotion in the Hospital Wing. Aren't you supposed to be able to get rest here? Well, now that you're awake anyway, let's lean in a little and check if there's anything interesting.

Layer 2
Well whaddaya know, there is. Under the bed in front of you is... a Sponge. Well good luck with that. The vase next to Dumbledore has some Poppy Heads for you. And the drawer of the table it's standing on has a Merwyn the Malicious Chocolate Frog Card. Sweet.

Layer 3
Not sure why there is a layer 3 here, the outside sky was already pretty when you weren't this close.

Checklist
Items
-Sponge
Ingredients
-Poppy Heads
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Merwyn the Malicious

CHAPTER 11: THE DUELLING CLUB (CSCH11)
Yeah, time for some sweet duelling!

After Potions class. Yep, gotta attend your normal classes, too!

Moment 1: The Diversion (CSCH11.1)
This seems familiar! This time you are supposed to brew a Swelling Solution. It takes about 45 minutes with the Copper cauldron, so if you have the time, go brew one. You need to do so in order to get two ingredients back in Chapter 5, Snape's Office. This is the diversion that allows Hermione to steal those ingredients, you see! So once you've done that, go back to Chaper 5, Moment 3. When you're done with that, come back here to go on to Moment 2.

Moment 2: Harry and Draco's Duel (CSCH11.2)
Time for a little test of your Harry Potter knowledge! You'll probably be able to do this on your own, but if you can't, I'm here to help. As always.

Layer 1
The first spell is the one all the way to the right. Expelliarmus. It is, of course, the Disarming Charm.

Layer 2
Next is the spell to the left, it's kind aswishy. It's Tarantallegra, which causes wild dancing.

Layer 3
Lastly, the white spell in the middle. It's the Tickling Charm, Rictusempra.
Answering correctly grants you the Alberta Toothill Chocolate Frog Card!

Checklist
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Alberta Toothill

CHAPTER 12: THE POLYJUICE POTION (CSCH12)
So, let's find out if it was really necessary to brew that hellish potion! Was it all just a trick to keep us busy? Or will it be rewarded in some way? Click the big blue Explore button!

Moment 1: Dumbledore's Office (CSCH12.1)
Somehow it's gloomier than I'd imagined it, but that might just be because it's supposedly nighttime.

Layer 1
For the first layer in the new chapters, it's kinda... well, disappointing. I thought at the very least the book on the spindly-legged table on the right could be picked up, but no such luck. All you can do is zoom in and hope the rest has more!

Layer 2
Why yes, the rest DOES have more! Two things, even! The odd shape in front of the chair, on the table, is a bottle of Dragon's Blood. Next to that is a candy bowl with, of course, a Sherbet Lemon for you to enjoy. Yummy.

Layer 3
Layer 3 has... a small glitch in the form of a barely visible splinched table, lol. But it also has Fawkes on his burning day, and the silvery glow in the cabinet (I'm thinking Pensieve :D)

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Sherbet Lemon
Ingredients:
-Dragon Blood

Moment 2 - The Potion is Ready (CSCH12.2)
Dundundunnnn the Polyjuice Potion is ready! If you haven't already, now would be the PERFECT time to brew some Polyjuice Potion. You even get one of the ingredients you need for it for free: that bottle on the floor of the toilet stall is a bottle of Lacewing Flies. Well, that's a few Galleons I wasted on it, then. Whoops.

Unless you're a Slytherin. Slytherins don't need to brew a Polyjuice potion to get into the common room because... well, they're already Slytherins, so they don't need to disguise themselves.

Anyway, that bean is what you'd expect: a Bertie Bott's bean. Overcooked Cabbage-Flavoured. Eh... yeah, not my favourite.

The glasses on the toilet seat are clickable, but they'll only froth and foam a bit, nothing more. You can pretend to writhe in agony if you want, I'll wait here.

Done? Good, feel transformed yet? Well, just click the bubbling potion in the cauldron to read about the potion. When you're done, move on to the next moment.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Polyjuice Potion
Trunk items:
-A Bertie Bott's Overcooked Cabbage-Flavoured Bean
Ingredients:
-Lacewing Flies

Moment 3 - The Slytherin Common Room (CSCH12.3)
Welcome to my Common Room! It's really quite comfortable, and not at all as gloomy and cold as it looks in this moment.

Layer 1
'But Rhynn,' I hear you say, 'That's just a wall! Are you sure this is right?' Of course I do, it's my common room. Really, the nerve... just click the wall! Yes, that's all you have to do.

Unless you STILL haven't brewed the Poluyjuice Potion. Then you need to get it somehow and then get back here. Either brew it or get a friend to gift it to you - both will work.

In any case, zoom in to properly enter.

Layer 2
See that chessboard? I've lost count of how many times Draco's beaten me at chess on that board... and it seems the Montague Knightley Chocolate Frog Card which I left in the drawer under the chessboard is still there. Good- hey, what- give that back! Don't take my card! HEY!

Layer 3
Why'd you run off? You could have just asked, you know... what, get on with the guide? What gui- oooooh. Sorry, I got carried away again.
So. Ahum. Right.
Uh, take a look at that wonderfully comfortable couch/chaise longue/sofa/whatever you want to call it. The book is collectable, it's Nature's Nobility: A Wizarding Genealogy. Of course you'd find that in here.
Above the fireplace is something, I haven't really made out what exactly yet, but just hover over the right one to open it for five Galleons.
Then look at the table next to the Christmas tree. The white thingy is a Daily Prophet clipping. Click it for a closer look (you don't get to collect it). It should sound familiar and it should bring you a feeling of shame and guilt.

And with that feeling of shame and guilt, you can go to the next chapter!

Checklist
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Montague Knightley
Books:
-Nature's Nobility: A Wizarding Genealogy
Other:
-Five Galleons

CHAPTER 13: THE VERY SECRET DIARY (CSCH13)
Time to take a closer look at that diary! You know, you really do spend way too much time in bathrooms in this book. You might want to get that checked out...

Moment 1 - Tom Riddle's Diary (CSCH13.1)
Moping, Moaning Myrtle can be heard crying in the background, of course. It IS her bathroom, after all.

Layer 1
There's a Bertie Bott's Soap-Flavoured Bean on the floor right in front of you (why are you crouching?), so pick it up and zoom in!

Layer 2
See that Horned Slug? You can't pick it up. Nope, you can't. It's useful in telling you where the interesting things here are, though, so let's focus on it for now. Moving over it will make it crawl down a bit; do so.

Now move your move over to where the slug is, and move an inch or so to the left. Purple glowy! It's a Leaping Toadstool. That's the second moment with this so-far useless ingredient... I hope Prisoner of Azkaban will have a potion for it!
Now zoom in, but still keep your eyes on that slug.

Layer 3
Unless you've already noticed the interesting thing in this moment, If you have, just click it, of course. If you can't see it, look at where the slug is pointing. Then slowly follow it's direction. You'll eventually find the Diary!

Oh, but you can't pick it up, you only get to have a closer look at it's empty first page. Okay so it's not actually that interesting...

Checklist
Trunk items:
-A Bertie Bott's Soap-Flavoured Bean
Ingredients:
-Leaping Toadstool

Moment 2 - Valentine's Day (CSCH13.2)
Whoo, they put this moment in! I was hoping to get a look at this ridiculousness by Lockhart.

Layer 1
Oh boy. I see pink. And wings. And an annoyed McGonagall. Ooooh boy. Let's zoom in to see what that's all about...

Layer 2
...Wow. That's uh... a LOT of pink. Well. Whether you like the pink or not, there's a few things to collect here so don't run away from it all quite yet.
On the second table on the left (I'm thinking it's the Gryffindor table), one boy has a Valentine's Day Card sticking out of his pocket. The end of the seat he's on has five Galleons. The yellow thing in front of the bowl that's in front of... Ginny? In any case, that big bowl. The yellow thing in front of it is a Bertie Bott's Vomit-Flavoured Bean. Oddly fitting.

Now look at the table on the other side of the 'cherubs'. Look at the far end of the table for a heart-shaped Valentine's Day Card. The guy sitting there is eating a Bertie Bott's Strawberry-Flavoured Bean for breakfast. Uh, whatever floats your boat, dude. He seems to be looking at a very obvious pink/purple Valentine's Day card, which you can of course pick up.

Now zoom!

Layer 3
The most obvious thing here is Lockhart, in his bright pink robes. He's got a little bottle of Rose Oil in front of him, ready for you to pick up.

Now run before the cherubs get you.

Checklist
Trunk Items:
-A Bertie Bott's Vomit-Flavoured Bean
-A Bertie Bott's Strawberry-Flavoured Bean
-Valentine's Day Card
-Valentine's Day Card
-Valentine's Day Card
Ingredients:
-Rose Oil
Other:
-Five Galleons

Moment 3 - Into the Diary (CSCH13.3)
Ah, finally some peace and quiet to take a look at that diary.

Layer 1
Not that there's much to look at; the diary is kind of empty. What's wrong with that 13, though? Let's click on it to see what happens!

Layer 2
Whoah. Okay. Uh. So, that happens. Hey Tom. Hey Hagrid. And hey Aragog there in the crate. Nothing to collect here, though.

Layer 3
And I'm afraid it's the same story in this moment. Just Aragog moving about in his crate. All in all, not the most exciting moment... seems to me like they might add an audio book excerpt here later.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 14: CORNELIUS FUDGE (CSCH14)
Let's meet that man, then! Not that I like him very much, but I'm curious to see how they've portrayed him.

Moment 1 - Another Attack (CSCH14.1)
But first, the Hospital wing. Because you attacked Nick, you heartless person! How could you attack a ghost like that! Best get out of here... after checking carefully for stuff to collect.

Layer 1
Well, you can quickly move past layer 1, then, 'cause there's nothing here.

Layer 2
There's nothing here either! Oh wait, no, there totally is. Move over the screen and click Nick, to read about ghosts. Then open the drawer of his bedside table for five Galleons. It's not like he'll need them, anyway, right? You thief.
For more to steal, check out that cabinet in the corner. You'll have to get closer to it first, though.

Layer 3
Move over it to open the door. The middle shelf has a bottle of Salamander Blood (this time it's red, like it's supposed to be). The shelf under it has a Bezoar (useful! and a bottle of Skele-Gro. Because you have such fond memories of that stuff.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Ghosts
Trunk items:
-Skele-Gro
Ingredients:
-Salamandar Blood
-Bezoar
Other:
-Five Galleons

Moment 2 - Dumbledore is Suspended (CSCH14.2)
Noooo, Dumbledore! How could you let them take you like that!

Layer 1
Of course, you start in the pumpkin patch. That big pumpkin is covered in slugs, and one of them... uh... feels the effect of Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent when you go to touch it. Yeah... let's just move on, shall we?

Layer 2
That suspicious bottle in the corner on the crass is Dried Billywig Stings. Really, Hagrid, why do you have that? Ah well, not complaining. Free stuff, after all
That thing in the window is the Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent mentioned earlier. Of course, take it with you. It only took Hagrid a trip to Knockturn Alley to get it.

Layer 3
Dumbledore! Malfoy! Fudge! Hagrid! And you, standing there, under the invisibility cloak, totally invisible and imbossible to detect. Except for Dumbledore, he can totally see through you. Get it?! See through you?!
Sorry, that was lame. Let's uh... let's just move on.
As usual, Hagrid has some Dried Nettles hanging from his hut. There's also something lying on top of the barrel: Infusion of Wormwood.
Lastly, you can get a Key in Hagrid's hut. It's on the floor, on the little bit of it visible between the door and Hagrid. The door will slam, so you'll have to be quick. If you don't get it on time, just refresh.

Checklist
Trunk items:
-Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent
-Key
Ingredients:
-Dried Billywig Stings
-Dried Nettles
-Infusion of Wormwood

CHAPTER 15: ARAGOG (CSCH15)
Yaaaay, time to follow the spiders! To an even bigger spider! Good luck, arachnaphobes! You'll need it...

Moment 1 - Follow the Spiders (CSCH15.1)
Yep, the spidery-ness starts right here. You'll have to find three spiders. There's no time limit, so take your time to look at other stuff first. But, here's how it works: some of the things in the picture wiggle when you move over them. If you click them, a spider will crawl out. When you do that three times, you can move to the next layer. Do the same there and you'll... eh, have done the same there without moving on.
Yep.

Layer 1
But as I said, let's take a look at the other stuff first. The plant between Harry and Ron has a Shrivelfig growing on it, so pick it up, maybe you'll need it later. At Harry's knee level (a bit below it), if you look an inch to the left, there's a Beaumont Marjoribanks Chocolate Frog Card in the plants.

The plants you have to click here are:
1. The crop a few plants to the left of the Chocolate Frog card
2. The crop in the last row which is right above the first one
3. The base of the plant two to the right of Harry and Ron's plant

Layer 2
The Galleons are painfully obvious, so just pick them up. Now there are some more wiggling things, but really you don't have to click them if you don't want to, this is the end of the moment anyway. There's no third zoom layer and it won't get you anything.

If you do want to see the spiders crawl out, here are their locations:

1. The grey rock in the grass
2. The tuft of grass to the right of that rock
3. The mossy rock above the first rock

Checklist
Ingredients:
-Shrivelfig
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Beaumont Marjoribanks
Other:
-Five Galleons

Moment 2 - Rescued from the Forest (CSCH15.2)
Another minigame. You have to click the spiders to keep them off your back. There's a timer; once it runs out, you're saved and you get some Knotgrass. So until then, keep those spiders off you!
There are two things to collect here; DON'T PICK THEM UP YET! You WILL fail of you do so, and you will have to re-start. Trust me, you'll have time to get it afterwards.

So, keep the spiders at bay, then click the Continue button.

Above the car, is a Root of Aconite for you to pick up. Ten centimeters to the right of Harry and Ron is something straight and narrow - a Porcupine Quill.

And that's it for this moment and chapter!

Checklist
Ingredients:
-Knotrass
-Root of Aconite
-Porcupine Quill

CHAPTER 16: THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS (CSCH16)
Whoo, more toilet time this chapter. And more Hospital Wing time. Of course. Hadn't seen enough of that, yet.

Moment 1 - Hermione's Clue (CSCH16.1)
Look at them, all sad about Hermione. Whose hand looks a bit broken to me, but that might just be me.

Layer 1
The note in Hermione's hand gives a closer look. And under her pillow is a Herpo the Foul Chocolate Frog card.

Layer 2
This layer has nothing, so just zoom in.

Layer 3
Of course the cabinet holds something for you. Doesn't it always? This time it's Castor Oil, an ingredint that's not quite useful yet.
Make sure to move over the door to the Hospital Wing to reveal five Galleons.

Checklist
Ingredients:
-Castor Oil
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Herpo the Foul
Other:
-Five Galleons

Moment 2 - The Entrance to The Chamber (CSCH16.2)
Welcome back to the bathroom! I don't think I need to show you around anymore, you come here more often than I do.

Layer 1
So you already know that this layer holds nothing and you can just move on to layer 2, right?

Layer 2
But here's something new for ya! Click on the middle tap and watch what happens. Fancy, no?

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

Moment 3 - Two Entwined Serpents (CSCH16.3)
O hey, it's the Chamber of Secrets Gateway logo. Did those eyes just move? Let's take a closer look - light up your wand (click on the light spot). Oh, it's just a carving of snakes. Uh.

Work your Parseltongue magic by clicking the door to open it. Then move on to the next chapter, 'cause there's nothing else to do here.

No, really.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 17: THE HEIR OF SLYTHERIN (CSCH17)
So let's find out who the Heir of Slytherin is! I'm guessing... Quirrell! Oh, wait, wrong book. We've already had that.

Moment 1 - Tom Riddle (CSCH17.1)
That. Is a big foot.

Layer 1
And that's Ginny, nearly dead, and Harry being worried about her. Good thing it's not you hanging over her, you'd probably rob her of anything she has on her, the way you've been going around Hogwarts...

Layer 2
Zoom out to layer 2, to see Harry's wand and the diary. Neither of which you can pick up. So uh... move on.

Yes, really, there is nothing to get her, you greedy person.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

Moment 2 - The Basilisk (CSCH17.2)
Okay now that's a BIG snake. And very bright green, way brighter than I imagined it.

Layer 1
Interestingly enough, when I first got to this moment about an hour after it was released, the sword was clickable and revealed info, only there was no info. They fixed that glitch really quickly though, as it's no longer there now - an hour later again.
This does take out the one thing that was clickable in this moment, however. So zoom to move up.

Layer 2
Faaaawkes! His wings move kindof awkwardly but he's pretty and cool and whooooosh.

Layer 3
Wow. Uhm. AWESOME but kiiinda scary and gruesome. Gaze in awe or move on.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

Moment 3 - Harry Destroys the Diary (CSCH17.2)
Look at you, all heroic in the face of grave danger.

Layer 1
A nice image when you're reading the book along with it, I suppose, but otherwise there's nothing to do here.

Layer 2
Stab! Splash! And zoom out! And no zooming back in. Riddle's gone and you should follow him, 'cause there's nothing to get here.

Yes, that's right. There's nothing to get in this chapter.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

CHAPTER 18: DOBBY'S REWARD (CSCH18)
But, in this one we'll get to see Dobby again, and he'll be more squee-dorable than ever.

Moment 1 - Dumbledore Returns (CSCH18.1)
Oh, and you get to loot McGonagall's office, of course. Let's not forget that.

Layer 1
There WAS a Montrose Magpies badge on the table, but upon getting to it with another account it's not there. So, uh... maybe it's there, maybe it's not. If it is, it's a silvery thing between the scrolls and the needlework.
The needlework suddenly can't be picked up anymore either; I collected it on my account but testing it on another account, it's unclickable. Really, really weird.
You can still collect the Ginger Newt in the tin, though. The tartan tin.

Layer 2
Now here's the Sword of Gryffindor again, all bloody, and this time you CAN click it to read about it.

Layer 3
The middle bookshelf has a very thin, narrow book in the middle, which is Transfiguration Today. On top of the shelves is a Mirabella Plunkett card, five Galleons, and a bottle of Nettle Wine.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-The Sword of Gryffindor
Trunk items:
-Montrose Magpies Quidditch Badge?
-Needlework?
-Ginger Newt
-Nettle Wine
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Mirabella Plunkett
Books:
-Transfiguration Today
Other:
-Five Galleons

Moment 2 - A Free Elf (CSCH18.2)
Dobby! Squee! Poor thing, all those bandages! Just look at how he holds up that disgusting, slimy sock!

And - oh, that's the end. What? That was... somehow very anticlimactic.

Checklist
Nothing to get in this moment

And that's Chamber of Secrets! Back to the Gateway, and on to Prisoner of Azkaban!

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN

Whoo, Prisoner of Azkaban! A favourite for many, so let's see if Pottermore made it a good one, shall we?

CHAPTER 1: OWL POST (POACH1)
First chapter, let's not waste any time blabbering about it and just get started!

Moment 1: Harry's Birthday (POACH1.1)
Harry on his bed, amidst a bunch of letters. And Hedwig looks a bit... well, derpy. She must be tired.

Layer 1
Layer 1 just gives you a first look at the moment, there's not actually anything to do here. So just zoom in!

Layer 2
None of the letters can be collected, but you can read all of them. They're the same as in the book, so you should know the contents already unless you're as scatterbrained as I am sometimes.
The card on the floor is the Edgar Stoulger Chocolate Frog Card. The boxy thingy on the bed is Harry's Broom Kit (thank you, Hermione). It has a Tiny Brass Compass in it which you can collect.
Harry also has some books above his bed, on which he has put a Galleon for whatever reason. He's probably forgotten all about it, so just go ahead and steal it. He won't miss it. He has plenty anyway... not like he really needs them!

There's no layer 3, so just go on ahead to the next moment!

Checklist
Items:
-Tiny Brass Compass
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Edgar Stoulger
Other
-Galleon

CHAPTER 2: AUNT MARGE'S BIG MISTAKE (POACH2)
Oh, uh, or, you know, chapter. What's up Pottermore, can't think of enough scenes in the books that would make interesting moments? Really, need some help? I mean, we've got a forum full of people here who'd be happe to help you brainstorm...

Anyway, I'm losing track of what I was doing again. So let's continue.

Moment 1: Aunt Marge (POACH2.1)
Hey there, Ripper! I think he actually looks like a sweet dog... except for the fierce teeth of course. Then again, he's got them stuck in Vernon's leg, so... good boy, Ripper!

Layer 1
This is one of those moments where the layers aren't zooms but the camera panning.
In this first scene, the glass on the floor will unlock the "Marge Dursley" info when you click on it. After that just double click, because that's it for this layer.

Layer 2
Apart from funny sounds, there's nothing here. The ducks pop(?!) and the plates... do something similar. Marge also makes weird sounds. But that's it. So, on we go...

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Marge Dursley

CHAPTER 3: THE KNIGHT BUS (POACH3)
...to already the third chapter. Yeah, I was surprised too. I expected more.

Moment 1: Magnolia Crescent (POACH3.1)
If your screen is set to be pretty bright you can probably see him already... if you have no idea what I'm talking about, just keep on reading ;)

Layer 1
Harry, why is your trunk open? Really, this late at night... think of the Statute of Secrecy, boy! The Muggles might spot your magical stuff! And no, not that magical stuff...
Anyway. In said open trunk is the Blenheim Stalk Chocolate Frog Card. It's somewhere between all the junk in the trunk. When you've found it, just zoom in!

Layer 2
Behind Harry's head (or, technically, in front of it) is one of those flower balls. It has Flower Heads for you to collect. Now it might seem as if there's nothing else, but when you try to go on, you'll notice the moment is locked. In other words, you're not done yet.
Nope, there's still something you need to see! Hover over Harry's wand, and behold. Then move on.

Checklist
Ingredients
-Flower Heads
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Blenheim Stalk

Moment 2: Inside the Knight Bus (POACH3.2)
Oh my goodness, a second moment! So they DO remember how to do that! Let's not waste any time, who knows, they might change their mind and take it away again!

Layer 1
This moment is basically a one-zoom moment, but double clicking does do stuff so I'll count it as a second layer. So, on this first layer, you're inside the knight bus, and you can see the old guy sleeping peacefully, and the whole bus looking decidedly cleaner than I imagined it. In any case, click on the hot water bottle on the front right bed. That will unlock 'The Knight Bus', extra info. Then, double click...

Layer 2
To make the bus start! Now prepare to be frustrated. You see a galleon falling from the top level; if you want it, you'll have to catch it. Furthermore, when the bus veers left a galleon rolls over the floor, and when the bus veers right another one rolls to the other side. That's three very, very annoying galleons. They're much more difficult than the snitch and winged key in Philosopher's Stone, so don't worry if it takes you a little while.

Once you have those, don't move away yet. You can knock over the umbrella stand, which makes it spill its contents. And then you can collect the walking stick. What on EARTH are you planning to do with that? Imitating Lucius Malfoy?!
Well, whatever you like. Just move on once you've got everything.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-The Knight Bus
Items
-Walking Stick
Other
-Galleon
-Galleon
-Galleon

CHAPTER 4: THE LEAKY CAULDRON (POACH4)
Congratulations on surviving the trip with the Knight Bus! Never again, right?

Moment 1: Monster Book of Monsters (POACH4.1)
Ah, the Monster Book of Monsters. Poor shopkeeper. No layers in this one, just the one you see now.

According to the source code there should be something with the gloves and walking stick, but nothing happens for me when I try to interact with them, so they probably forgot that or decided to leave it out. If anything happens with them in the future, please let me know.

Since we're in a book store, there's books to collect. The first is more obvious than you'd expect actually. In the bookcase behing the candle on the left is an empty spot. Except it's not empty. When you hover over that spot, the Invisible Book of Invisibility will be available and you'll be able to collect it.
In the same cabinet is another book we can collect. It's called The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why Muggles Prefer Not to Know. You see the big stack of books just to the left of the cage; in the row above it is a red book (the corner of the top blue book sort of points to it). That's the book you can collect.

And that's it for this moment!

Checklist
Books
-Invisible Book of Invisibility
-The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why Muggles Prefer Not to Know

The Magical Menagerie (POACH4.2)
This is the first moment which has three layers! That's been a while!

Layer 1
I want that turtle. And a purple frog. And a puffskein... and the bunny. Which turns into a top hat when you hover over it. Insta-awesome, right?!
Eh, yeah, just ignore me, I like top hats. So. Check out those frogs again; there's something on top of their way-too-small-box. A tub of dead Blowflies. Well, those'll probably come in handy for a potion at some point. If they ever add more potions, that is.

So, collect it, then play with the animals some more and zoom in.

Layer 2
This layer actually has a surprisingly large amount of nothing. You can scare off Scabbers by moving over him and/or Crookshanks, but that's it.

Layer 3
On the counter is the Rat Tonic. Ron'll probably be thankful if you pick it up for him. Just remember to give it to him, 'kay?
Once you've done your duty as a friend, pick up the chocolate frog card on the box on the floor next to the counter. It's Gulliver Pokeby, whoever that may be.

Checklist
Items
-Rat Tonic
Ingredients
-Blowflies
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Gulliver Pokeby

CHAPTER 5: THE DEMENTOR (POACH5)
Time to go to school! Just have to take the train first. For which a Dementor is hoping to be the conductor. Nothing creepy about that, right?

Professor R. J. Lupin (POACH5.1)
Two layers for this moment. One from outside of the train, and the other inside! Honestly I'm having a hard time choosing if I'd rather be outside in the rain, or inside with the Dementor...

Layer 1
You can vaguely see Lupin through the rain and the Dementor is creepy enough already. There's nothing here though. Zoom in!

Layer 2
Still rather dark... just hover over Lupin's hand. Dude can make fire, yo! I wonder if it's burning his hand.
Anyway. Now that you have some light, you should be able to vaguely see a bean on the table-thingy at the window, which you seem to be sitting on or something. It's Sausage-flavoured; still not sure how I'd like that as a candy...

Checklist
Items
-Bertie Bott's Sausage-Flavoured Bean

CHAPTER 6: TALONS AND TEA-LEAVES (POACH6)
You've barely reached school, and you'll already be starting classes. Don't you just love going to Hogwarts?

Sir Cadogan (POACH6.1)
Sir Cadogan, his stuck sword, and his pony. Good luck getting information out of him!

Layer 1
Start by clicking the painting and- oh, that already gives you the Sir Cadogan info. I thought I'd have to duel him at the very least. Disappointing!
Double click to wove to a blank stretch of wall (there's nothing here). Double click again for the next layer.

Layer 2
No, no matter how many times you click the book the lady dropped, you cannot get stuff that's in a painting! It's a painting. Not a diorama. Just run along, 'kay?

Layer 3
After passing a torch on the wall (no, there's nothing here either) you get to a painting of monks. Rather gloomy painting. And rather... well, useless. Let's see if the next moment has more to offer!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Sir Cadogan

Divination (POACH6.2)
Okay that's not how I imagined the Divination classroom at ALL. It does give off the right vibe, though. I get drowsy looking at it and I can just imagine the smell of incense.

Layer 1
Okay, I know it looks like this layer should have a lot of stuff, but trust me, it doesn't. I looked at the code, it's not there. Ya gotta zoom in for the loot.

Layer 2
Yes, that's better. Let's start at the blonde girl on the right, who seems to be sharing a table with Hermione. She's leaning on a Chocolate Frog card (how dare she bend it like that?!) which you can easily snag. It's (as you might have been able to guess) Cassandra Vablatsky.
Now let's look at the shelves. To be precise, the one on the right (our right) of Trelawney (who also totally doesn't look the way I imagined her). Somewhere in all the rubbish and teapots is an Exploding Snap Pack. No wonder people keep breaking her china.
Now that you have that, go to the shelf on the other side. You can pick up one of the teacups (she has plenty of them anyway, and this one will be a nice replacement for your old broken one!). That's not all for this shelf, though; there's a stack of books on the same shelf, and the top one is one you can pick up, called Xylomancy.
And that's it, class dismissed!

Checklist
Items
-Exploding Snap Pack
-Tea cup
Books
-Xylomancy
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Cassandra Vablatsky

Hagrid's First Lesson (POACH6.3)
HIPPOGRIFFS! LOOK! HIPPOGRIFFS! HIPPO-what? Oh, sorry, I'll stop shouting. Hippogriffs, though!

Layer 1
Awww just look at Ron petting that Hippogriff which is obviously enjoying it and oooooh is that Knotgrass near Ron's foot?

Layer 2
Okay I've had enough of the Hippogriffs, can we go now? Let me just ge my bag and oooooh someone dropped a chocolate frog card under their bag. Norvel Twonk, neat, I didn't have that one yet!
Oh before we go, let me just take one last look at this pretty Hippogriff standing near the bags. (It unlocks the Professor Kettleburn info).

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Professor Kettleburn
Ingredients
-Knotgrass
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Norvel Twonk

CHAPTER 7: THE BOGGART IN THE WARDROBE (POACH7)
On to the Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson! Enjoy it, because it'll be a while until we get more chapters. Yep, this is the last bit for now!

Riddikulus (POACH7.1)
You see a random boggarts (there's a few different ones). Double click them to make a Riddikulus spell path appear and cast it! That'll make the Boggart stop. If you don't get the mummy right away, refresh until you do. After you've defeated the mummy, you can click the remains to get the Boggart info.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Boggart

CHAPTER 8: FLIGHT OF THE FAT LADY (POACH8)
Party time! I hope you're not afraid of bats...

The Hallowe'en Feast (POACH8.1)
...because they're all over your mouse pointer in the first layer.

Layer 1
If you want to get rid of them just zoom in, there's nothing to get here anyway!

Layer 2
Looks like you're standing in the middle of the hall... why? Do you really need to be in the spotlight everywhere you go?! Well while you're here, just walk to the end, all the way to the teacher's table. You can steal one of the pumpkins there.
On your way back out of the hall, make sure to pick up the five galleons peeking out from under the bench on the right! And on the other bench, the one on the left side, are some bat wings. It seems one of the bats up above didn't quite survive the night...

Checklist
Objects:
-Pumpkin
Ingredients:
-Bat Wings
Other:
-5 Galleons

The Slashed Painting (POACH8.2)
Poor fat lady... must've been an awful experience for her!

Layer 1
Of course you're standing behind everyone... not even Peeves thinks you're worth pestering. Must have something to do with all your pick-pocketing... no don't- oh alright, it's not as if I can stop you anyway. On the left is a student with some spikey-ish hair; he's got a galleon for you somewhere in his robe. Near that is a Pepper Imp just begging to be yours. Lastly, see that sort of floating hand to the left of Snape? It's reaching for a galleon, so make sure you get there first.

Layer 2
Zoom in to magically grow five feet taller, allowing you to have a look at the painting. You can even click it to get extra info about the Hogwarts Portraits!
Now get out of here before anyone catches you.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Hogwarts Portraits
Objects:
-Pepper Imp
Other:
-Galleon
-Galleon

CHAPTER 9: GRIM DEFEAT (POACH9)
Time for a rather boring chapter. Proceed!

Gryffindor versus Hufflepuff (POACH9.1)
Rain, gloom, dementors... sounds like a fun Quidditch match, no?

Layer 1
That's a lot of Dementors. And none of them even have a treat for you! No, you can't pickpocket them, they don't have anything. They're Dementors. What are you even doing here, do you like them or something? Or are you looking for that mysterious voice which seems to be narrating what's happening? Trust me, he's not here.

Layer 2
You can hover over Cedric and the Snitch to see them move, but that's it. Yes really, there is nothing to get in this moment. Or chapter, for that matter... just move on, 'kay?

CHAPTER 10: THE MARAUDER'S MAP (POACH10)
Ooooh time for the map! One of my favourite items in the entire series! Except maybe the Invisibility Cloak.

Dissendium (POACH10.1)
Having fun there in the hallway? Careful, that suit of armour is on to you.

Layer 1
Hogwarts has already been decorated for Christmas, and that means mistletoe everywhere. Free potions ingredients, yay! Just get on the statue and pick 'em from the decorations! On your way down, make sure not to slip on the Gunhilda of Gorsemoor Chocolate Frog card at the base of the statue.
Oh and tap the map Harry's holding to magically get some new info about it.

Layer 2
Then, zoom in and go through the door. In the hallway there is a book for you, Jiggery Pokery and Hocus Pocus. And that's it, on to the next moment!

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling:
-Marauder's Map
Books:
-Jiggery Pokery and Hocus Pocus
Chocolate Frog Cards:
-Gunhilda of Gorsemoor
Ingredients:
-Mistletoe Berries

Honeydukes (POACH10.2)
Ah, Hogsmeade, the perfect place to continue your thievery career. Enjoy!

Layer 1
Let's start at the counter, which is stupidly unmanned. Really, with this many kids in the store, it's like they're asking for it, don't you think? Let's take that green lollypop, the Acid Pop.
The door has a notice about dementors patrolling the streets... better hope they don't catch you..

Layer 2
Let's see... how about those cupcake-like things on the counter to the left? They're Chocoballs and sound like they taste delicious. Now it's about time to move towards the exit - but not before grabbing one of those minty green Peppermint Toads from the shelf.

Checklist
Objects
-Acid Pop
-Chocoball
-Peppermint Toad

The Three Broomsticks (POACH10.3)
Man it's cold out here - let's head to the Three Broomsticks, it should be nice and warm in there!

Layer 1
The pub has been decorated it seems - even on the upper floor! Seems like you can get some of the Holly there; isn't there some kind of law against using magic outside of school? Bad child, you!

Layer 2
Between Flitwick and Hagrid, there's a Chocolate Frog Card sticking out of the snow. While you're using magic anyway you might as well get it; it's Glover Hipworth. Now let's go back - no, don't accio that snowball from behind Hagrid - ugh, you're awful, you know that? Wait- you're not going to use it? Oh I see, your trunk must be a mini-fridge. How fancy.

Checklist
Objects
-Sprig of Holly
-Snowball
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Glover Hipworth

CHAPTER 11: THE FIREBOLT (POACH11)
New broomstick, yaaaay!

The Firebolt is Confiscated (POACH11.1)
Well that didn't last long. At least there's some stuff to get here...

Layer 1
Against the stack of books in front of Hermione, there's a Dunbar Oglethorpe Chocolate Frog Card. Pick it up and zoom in.

Layer 2
There's a delicious Homemeade Mince Pie on the little table in front of the fire. Save it from going bad! The Gobstones'll give you some new info about them. Now sneak in front of Harry to grab his Spellotape, and then move on to the Tree to grab that shiny red Bauble. Not sure which one? Go for the one visible between Ron and Harry - they forgot to attach it to the tree with a Permanent Sticking Charm.
Now what on earth are you going to decorate with that?

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Gobstones
Objects
-Homemade Mince Pie
-Spellotape
-Bauble
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Dunbar Oglethorpe

CHAPTER 12: THE PATRONUS (POACH12)
Is it possible? Could it be? A Patronus test?

Expecto Patronum (POACH12.1)
Nope, sorry. Not in these chapters. If they even add one at all.

Layer 1
Let's just raid the classroom out of anger! Harry's chocolate wrapper will give you info about Dementors and Chocolate. The table in front of him as a hidden drawer which slides out when you hover over it, and it has an Andros the Invincible card. Score!

Layer 2
The table next to the one with the card also has a drawer, this one has a Pumpkin-Flavoured Bean. Lastly, the cabinet in the corner has five Galleons at the bottom. Just hover over the door to open it, then you can grab the money.

Checklist
New from J. K. Rowling
-Dementors and Chocolate
Objects
-A Bertie Bott's Pumpkin-Flavoured Bean
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Andros the Invincible
Other
-Five Galleons

CHAPTER 13: GRYFFINDOR VERSUS RAVENCLAW (POACH13)
Time for Gryffindor's second match of the season!

Ron Tries Out the Firebolt (POACH13.1)
Aaah, you finally got it back. Or, well, Harry did, and you're stalking him. That makes it yours, right? Right?

Layer 1
Madam Hooch is obviously not paying any attention, so go ahead and grab whatever the other students have left in the seats. There's a Galleon between the rows; in front of the seats in the distance is a Cyprian Youdle Chocolate Frog Card. Now go on the field; the the right of the entrance to the dressing rooms are some Dried Nettles, and between the first two goal hoops is a Grass-Flavoured Bean. Tasty, if you're a cow.

Layer 2
That Firebolt looks dangerous, with that metal on the tail! To get some extra info about the broom, click the last goal hoop.

A Rude Awakening (POACH13.2)
Ah, Sirius is up to something again. Nice to see a different view of the dorms, too!

Layer 1
See that trunk at the end of the bed there? The stringy stuff on top of it are some Toothflossing Stringmints. The pile of cloth on the same bed has an Alberic Grunnion card hidden in it.

Layer 2
Surpise, a layer with nothing in it! As if we haven't had those before...

Layer 3
What - a THIRD layer! It's been ages since we've had one of those! What's happening?!
In any case, the bedside table on the right (below the Quidditch team photo) has some round thingies on it. They're Dungbombs, and I'm sure no one would notice if you took one.
Now make sure to move to the trunk on the left, because it has a Galleon just lying there, unguarded...

CHAPTER 14: SNAPE'S GRUDGE (POACH14)
Ah yes, a chapter full of drama!

Buckbeak's Appel (POACH14.1)
Poor Hagrid, losing one of his favourite dangerous pets. And one that's actually legal to keep with a proper license, too!

Layer 1
Let's not mourn for too long though, because there is stuff to be stolen. Let's start with Hagrid's lunch, by grabbing one of the Bath Buns from the table which you seem to be sitting on... Get off there, you idiot!

Layer 1
Good, that's better. As a reward, look in the second drawer of the little cabinet at the foot of Hagrid's bed. There's a Galleon in there! Then look in the first drawer, which holds a Wilfred Elphick card. I didn't know Hagrid collected Chocolate frog cards!
You can also read the note in Hagrid's hairy suit pocket if you want.
Then, look on the floor. That goopy stuff is Flobberworm Mucus, and it's probably still good enough to use in potions. Probably. Use at your own risk.

Checklist

The Shrieking Shack (POACH14.2)
At first I didn't recognise the building at all, because it just looks so totally different from what I imagined! But yes, that's the Shrieking Shack. And yes, that is Harry's floating head.

Layer 1
In Ron's pocket is perhaps the weirdest object so far: Frog Spawn Soap. Well, it goes well with the Sponge from Chamber of Secrets, I guess... you're a weird one, you know! Just keep it away from me. Go chase that Leaping Toadstool under the tree, that'll keep you busy.

Layer 2
Or you could go off in the distance. Yes, do that - go grab those two little dots. One of them is a Sprig of Lavender, the other is some Valerian Sprigs. We'll meet back at Hogwarts...

Checklist
Objects
-Frog Spawn Soap
Ingredients
-Leaping Toadstool
-Valerian Sprigs
-Sprig of Lavender

A Spare Bit of Parchment (POACH 14.3)
Ah yes, you've made Snape angry. Good opportunity to raid his private stores though!

So, let's start at the bottom shelf behind his desk, he's too busy paying attention to the fire and being angry anyway. There's some Bat Spleens (probably from the same bat that didn't survive the Hallowe'en feast!), and once you have that you can get the Dragon Liver behind it. Then get up and grab the Pufferfish eyes just above the teacup spilling from the bag. Lastly, the Eels' Eyes in the jar next to Snape's left shoulder.

Now get out of here before you get detention again!

Checklist
Ingredients
-Bat Spleens
-Dragon Liver
-Pufferfish Eyes
-Eels' Eyes

CHAPTER 15: THE QUIDDITCH FINAL (POACH15)
Ah, the last Quidditch match! Good luck!

Gryffindor Wins the Cup (POACH15.1)
Oh, it's over already? Bummer! Let's get some stuff to vent our anger!

Layer 1
See that girl on the right, next to the guy with the rosette holding up that little flag thingy? You can grab her binoculars right off her. You awful person! They look expensive, too... Best run off into the distance!

Layer 2
Now that you're zoomed in, you can see two hands on the left, with a flag moving over them constantly. There's a Leopoldina Smethwyck card next to the one on the left, in the grass.
Then look at the other side of the moment, in the stands. In between a rather empty bit on the stands is a group with some red flags. To the left of them are five Galleons!

Checklist
Objects
-Binoculars
Chocolate Frog Cards
-Leopoldina Smethwyck
Other
-Five Galleons

And that's it for this batch of chapters! The rest of PoA should be released in a few months.

DUELING (DL)
Or, rather, the Spells tab in the Menu. If you click it you should see an open book with several spells. If they have a blue 'Practise' button next to them, you can practise the spells. It's good to practise them, it'll help you in actual duels. If you've bought everything on your Booklist (which you should have, if you're looking at the Spells tab!) You should have three books for a total of 21 spells. There's also a big blue Wizard's Duel button, which takes you to the page where you can duel someone. Let's take a look at the available spells first.

 • Freezing Charm
 • General Counter-Spell
 • Memory Charm
 • Tickling Charm

HOW TO PERFORM SPELLS (HtPS)
Of course it's nice to know there's all these spells you could theoretically do, but it would be even nicer if you actually knew how to do them. Let's click 'Practise' on the Tickling Hex, a relatively easy one.

There will always be a screen explaining how it works, but I'll say it here again, that's what this section is about after all!

You can choose to use either the mouse or the keyboard. It's all about personal preference, the highest scores can be reached with both methods.

When you start to cast the spell, a few letters from the incantation pop up on the screen. In the case of the Tickling Hex, whose incantation is Titillando, the letters are T, T, L, D and O. They're scattered on the screen, but it's not as random as it seems at first. They're actually scattered along a pattern, which is the wand movement. This can be seen in the dark bar at the bottom, which also lists which spell you're casting and what the incantation is. If you want to know the order in which you'll have to click/type the letters, look at the incantation: the letters are glowing a bit.

But how do you actually cast the spell? You start by clicking on/typing the first letter, in this case the T all the way to the left. You'll see a circle of light moving away from the T and moving back to it. The challenge is to click/type the T again when the circle is at its biggest. It's very tricky, so don't feel bad if it's not going too well.

Once you've clicked/typed a letter twice, a little line of steam will move to the next letter. As soon as the line is on the (middle of the) next letter, click/type that letter and the circle of light will start moving again.

Repeat this until you've had all the letters. The line will move at different speeds along the path and it can catch you off guard easily. Just practise a lot before doing actual duels.

Once you've cast the spell, you'll see a little banner. It'll have your avatar and username and the spell you used. The important part of this banner is the Spell cast potency, which shows you how well you did on the spell. Each spell has a different maximum, which is listed a bit lower in this section.

Now let's go back to the Spells and click the Wizard's Duel button.

WIZARD'S DUEL (WD)
Time for the real deal! This board has three columns. The left column, Your duels, lists all the duels you have completed and the duels you've been challenged to. It's the column in which you can accept or decline challenges and you can challenge people to re-matches here.
The middle column is Challenge a friend. This lists all your friends and you can challenge them, as the name says. When you challenge someone from your own house it's only practice so challenge your own house for as long as you need until you're confident enough to go for the real deal to earn house points!
The third column is Challenge a house. You'll see the four house crests, and your own crest is at the bottom under the header 'Practice against your house'. Clicking any of these shields challenges a random person from that house. Remember the person who gets the challenge might be inactive, so it might take a while before you get a response from anyone. Challenging friends is the best way of quickly dueling.

There is a small catch though. You can't duel as many times as you want. Well, you can, but you have to wait a while between duels. You can do (if I recall correctly) 10 duels in a row before you have to wait a little while. If you have to wait I suggest doing a potion!

When challenging or getting challenged you'll occasionally have to fill in a captcha to prove you're human. This is to avoid cheating by getting a bot to do the hard work.

SPELL POTENCIES (SP)
Full Body Bind: 145
Jelly-Legs Curse: 135
Leg-Locker Curse: 118 (120?)
Pimple Jinx: 100
Stickfast Hex: 110
Tickling Hex: 129 (130?)
Tongue-Tying Spell: 139 (140?)
Curse of the Bogies: 104 (105?)
Knockback Jinx: 110
Fire-Making Spell: 129 (130?)

These maximums might not be completely accurate. If you have reached a higher potency that listed here, please show me a screenshot of your result and I'll update the list. The numbers in brackets are what I think the actual maximums might be.

POTIONS (BP)
The Potions screen has several different tabs. The standard tab is the Potion book, which lists all the potions you can brew. It has a button to practise the Cure for Boils (the easiest potion). It also lists all the potions, their effects and the ingredients needed. For each ingredient it also tells you if you own it (a checkmark in the box in front of it) or if you have to buy it (a blue Buy button in the box). There is also a button at the top of the screen which takes you directly to the Apothecary in Diagon Alley to purchase potions ingredienst.

The second tab is the Brewed tab. This is just a list of all the potions you've brewed (or gotten as gifts from friends).

The third tab is the Cauldrons tab. This shows you all the cauldrons you have.

The fourth tab is Ingredients, which as you might expect lists all the ingredients you own.

Let's start by practising a Cure for Boils.

CURE FOR BOILS (PRACTISE) (CfBp)
When you first start, your book with the instructions will open up. You can keep coming back to the book but it might be best to write it down somewhere you can see it right away without having to click anything, because there is a time limit to do your potion. For the Cure for Boils it doesn't matter much, but the more difficult potions really do take almost the maximum time.

To close the book, just click it.

Now let's explore the table a bit.
The leftmost item is the mortar. You use this to crush ingredients into a powder or paste. To crush an ingredient, simply drag the required amount from it to the mortar. Then click the pestle to crush the ingredient. When doing this a bar pops up - as soon as it has reached the green part, stop crushing. If you crush too much or too little, your potion will fail!
Once you've crusehd ingredients, you have to drag amounts of it from the mortar to the cauldron. Make sure not to click the pestle when trying to drag an ingredient!

The second item is your Cauldron. This is where you actually brew the potion. You can see a ladle sticking out from the top - you'll have to use this to stir potions. It's tricky though so make sure to practise this well. To stir clockwise, click the ladle and move in a big clockwise circle around the top of the cauldron. Don't worry about making it too big. To stir counter-clockwise, click the ladle and move in a big counter-clockwise circle.
If you do it correctly, the ladle should move the direction you want it to. After having gone round once a little '1' pops up to count your stirs.
Under the cauldron are three buttons. The leftmost turns off the fire, the middle one makes a medium fire and the right one makes a high fire. When you start heating a cauldron, another one of those meters pops up. It'll steadily move up (it moves quicker on a high fire). I usually start with a high fire and turn it low once it gets into the green. Make sure to turn off your fire if it is close to the top bar! Once the meter is in the green a timer will pop up. Make sure to keep the meter inside the green until the time is over! Once the time is over turn off the fire and let the temperature drop.

On the right of the cauldron are your ingredients. The book lists the ingredients and has pictures next to them, so if you're confused, look at those. One ingredient which is always present is the Standard Ingredient. It is inconveniently placed directly in front of your wand, which you always need to wave (click on it) to finish brewing.
To use an ingredient, click and drag it to the place it needs to be. Bottles can be very difficult to get right. For those, click the top of the bottle and drag it to the cauldron. If it needs to go into the cauldron, let it hit the right side of the cauldron and slowly tip the bottle to let it drop the ingredient. Do it one bit at a time and keep an eye on the counter so you don't add too much or too little!
If the ingredient has to go into the mortar, you have a challenge. There are two options:
1. Let the bottle hit the inside of the left side of the cauldron and slowly tip the bottle. It should exactly go into the mortar. Don't spill it or you'll fail the potion!
2. Let the bottle hit the left side of the mortar and slowly tip it to the right to add the ingredient. Sometimes the screen doesn't let you move the bottle far enough to the left though so you can't get the bottle to the right place

The book is standing open behind the Standard Ingredient and your wand. You can click it at any time to check the next step.

Now let's start actually brewing (if your time is nearly up, click back and just go back here). Close the book and drag some snake fangs to the mortar. You should see the counter go up to 3. You need 6, so drag another hand of fangs to the mortar. If the counter says 6, start crushing it! Make sure not to exceed the green bit!

Once it's crushed, drag a but of powder into the cauldron 4 times. Then click the high fire button and let it go to the green. Once it's there, click the medium fire button and when it goes past halfway, turn off the fire. When the meter almost reaches the bottom bar again turn the fire to medium again. Repeat until the timer is done and turn off the fire, just let it cool off while you go on to the next step, which is waving your wand! After you've done that you'll have to wait three minutes. Just stare at the screen while you do this or go do something else. You always have more time to get back to your potion though; after the time is up you'll have half the time it took to brew to get back to the potion. So in this case the potion has to brew 3 minutes and once it's done brewing you'll have 1 and a half more minutes to continue brewing.

When you get back to the potion, the book will be open again. There are some more steps you need to complete before you're done with the potion, so let's get going!

First, add 4 Horned Slugs to the cauldron. Then you need to add 2 Porcupine Quills and stir 5 times clockwise. After you've done that you only ahve to wave your wand to finish the potion!

If you've done everything correctly, you should get a message congratulating you. In a real potion this would give you some house points. Doing a potion wrong might blow up your cauldron (causing you to lose some house points and having to buy a new cauldron).

And that's the practise Cure for Boils!

BREWING OTHER POTIONS (BOP)
I could of course make a guide for each potion here, but it's much more fun for you if you figure them out yourself (I might make the guides at some point, though). The ingredients can be bought from the Apothecary and some of them can be found in the Moments (refer to the Chapters guide for that). The directions are always in the potions book. Some potions take longer to brew than others and some are easier than others. You also get a different amount of House points for each potion you complete. The list is below!

KNOWN GLITCHES (KG)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Many people have questions about Pottermore and I attempt to answer them here as much as I can. If you have a question, don't hesitate to send it please :)

Why can't I go to (insert book here)?
-Because it's not open yet. Pottermore has said once that they'd open the books about every six months. Of course with each opening they hope to get more members, it's all marketing... At the moment there is no date set for the opening of PoA, at least not as far as we know. However, the last chapters of CoS are set to open within a week!

Why can't I choose my own username?
-That would be because of child safety. It's to make sure no one used their real name as a username. This also makes sure there are no offensive names.

Why can't I message my friends?
-Once again, child safety. Pottermore is NOT a social networking site! It's an Interactive Reading Experience. If you want to interact with fellow Pottermore users, there are plenty of Pottermore communities out there (I recommend the Pottermore Fan Forum, it's by far the biggest out there).

I want to change my pet, how can I do that?
-You can't. Once you've chosen your pet, you're stuck with it. The only way of getting another pet is by making another account, but that's not allowed per the Terms of Service you agreed to while signing up.

How do I get more Galleons?
-There are a few Galleons to pick up in the moments, put other than that there is no way, so be sure not to spend too many. You supposedly do get more Galleons again when the next books open up, so if you've run out you might just have to wait until those open up.

I have a question which isn't answered here, how do I get an answer?
-Either ask it on the Pottermore Fan Forum or send me an e-mail. Make sure the subject is "Pottermore Question". Send it to rhynn @ pottermoreforum . net (remove the spaces). I try to answer as quickly as possible.

Something in this guide isn't right, fix it!
-It's quite possible I've missed things or said something which isn't right. Please let me know when that's the case. Send me a PM on the Pottermore Fan Forum or send me an e-mail (with the subject "Pottermore Guide Fix"). Please include proof of what you're saying; so if you tell me the Full Body Bind has a maximum of 150 points, make sure to add a screenshot of someone getting those 150 points on the Full Body Bind. If you don't include proof it will be ignored.

Can I add you on Pottermore?
-Sure! SeerHawthorn125. Feel free to send me a duel invitation as well :) Gifts are also always welcome ^_^

THANKS AND DISCLAIMER
I do not own Pottermore. I don't own Harry Potter. I only own a copy of each book and one of each movie and a few other trinkets. I don't make money with this guide. Feel free to share this guide on the internet - link back to the Pottermore Fan Forum though and do NOT claim it as your own. I appreciate getting a message when you share it somewhere, so take a few minutes to let me know please :)

I really have to thank J. K. Rowling for creating Harry Potter in the first place. And of course the Pottermore crew for creating Pottermore. I also want to thank my fellow Pottermore Fan Forum moderators for being great moderators, and the Pottermore Fan Forum members for being generally awesome.

Next, I have to thank my boyfriend and my mother. My boyfriend was generous enough to let me explore Pottermore again to write this guide on his account, as he was only interested in getting sorted. And my mother for letting me watch while she went through the first chapters so I could write this guide while she explored. I would not have been able to do this without them for at least another month, due to the Unbreakable Vow I took to not create another account within a month of Pottermore opening (and the Pottermore Terms of Service, of course).

Thanks to Danul for the tip on the snitch and winged keys. And thanks to SilverStrike30842 for correcting me on the Horned Slug location.

Thanks to Patronus 27 for telling me the first four chapters of CoS were open for Slytherins, allowing me to get the guide out so quickly.
Thanks to ShadowAnya, Halcyon, Locket and Facundo for telling me about a few things I'd missed in my first draft of the CoS guide.

Thanks to MagicGalleon4 for reminding me about the word wheelbarrow xD

Wow, what a thorough guide Rhynn! Even though I've finished the first book a few months ago, I kept reading through everything you wrote. Yup! Word by word. Didn't miss a single one! You actually pointed out a few things that I missed too.

So I just want to thank you very very much for the time and effort you've spent making this guide. :D

I added a few bits about catching the snitch and the winged key. Turns out, setting your quality to low makes them stay still on the screen, making it incredibly easy to catch them :) Thanks Danul for giving me this tip ^_^

Ye gods, is this a guide or what.
I object to reading it myself since I refuse to find anything on Pottermore with assistance, but I'm sure it's as comprehensive as it is long...
What an asset. Fantastic job, Rhynn!!
