The News Thread

Postby Caronis Tarrenarm » March 9th, 2017, 2:06 am

The title says it all. Let's talk about what's making news in the various parts of the world where my fellow Potter-heads are living. Please keep your language clean and no political or religious talk (forums tend to ban any discussions that revolve around religious or political things.) Anyway, I'll start off. Anyone here heard what happened at Queensland's "DreamWorld" theme park last October? If you didn't, the "Thunder River Rapids" ride has been permanently closed after a malfunction caused the deaths of four riders.

The scary thing is that this ride passed its annual safety test only a few weeks before the accident. Apparently it was the ride's wooden conveyor belt that malfunctioned, causing an empty raft to collide with a full one. The full raft capsized, drowning two riders and crushing another two. Miraculously, two young children in the raft survived.

Omg it's so scary to think that things happen like that to people. Like rides could be unsafe and you would never know until its too late

We had a crazy in my state that was finally caught. So that is some good news around here. He was seriously deranged to the point that the FBI and Secret Service will be handling his case.

In local news, one of our active neighborhoods is petitioning the city to re-open an old swimming park/beach by the river that was last open in like 1946. The city is considering putting in a park there, but without swimming access.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.
