Is it a phone number? Book 1, Chapter 2, 1 -531-4157. So, 121-531-4157. I live in the US, so this doesn't work for me. International calls are not part of my cell phone plan. I looked it up, though, and the area code 121 is in Birmingham in the UK.

I looked up whether 121-531-4157 was a cell phone number that had anything to do with JK Rowling an didn't find anything. But I did search in Google, "JK Rowling and Birmingham, UK" and I clicked on this link that went to site of Rare Book Shops. This place in Birmingham, UK is called Rohman Books and it says that some of Jo's first-edition quality books are there. Maybe this has something to do with it? Or... maybe not.

I'm so glad you guys thought about these numbers as well I've been looking them up on the internet since I first saw them.

Knowing Jo's track record I think they must mean something.

I have tried the telephone numbers idea and can't find anything in Birmingham with that number. If you ring it, it justs comes up as unobtainable.

I'm not really sure how these work but its nothing to do with map coordinates is it?
As far as I can tell if you use 15.31 as the latitude and 41.57 as the longitude it comes out somewhere in the middle of the Red Sea. (Pity its not the North Sea it could be the secret location of Azkaban then.) If you reverse it and use 41.57 as the latitude and 15.31 as the longitude it comes out in Sterparone near Foggia in Italy, maybe Jo's or the website developers holiday home?

Has anyone thought to just ask the pottermore admins or even an e-mail to JKR (although I doubt you would get a reply).. ;)

Perhaps when CoS comes out we'll get more numbers and with each book release thereafter and by the time we get to DH we'll have a whole sequence of numbers that could possibly give us access to super ultra secret hidden easter egg type content or potterverse lore...

I think part of the interest is wondering about this stuff, I would be so disappointed if someone asked the admins on Pottermore and they came back and said no its just random numbers, spoils all the fun....

Alright, so I was thinking that it might be bible passages?

Anyways, I typed in 15:31 into Google and it took me to Proverbs. I'm using the King James version since it would be more likely that Rowling reads that version:
The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

This is what I got for 41:57, this one in Genesis;
And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

I don't really see any correlation, but it was worth a try.
