We Need Ideas!

With the server changes over the past month, the cost of keeping PFF online has really skyrocketed. The ads no longer cover the costs...

Hagrid has increased the ads today (though putting them in posts was not an option) which will help a little bit, but it is by no means enough.

At the moment the shop isn't bringing in much either- in fact it's been hardly anything..

SO, we need ideas to generate somewhat of an income for PFF to keep us online. Even the smallest bits help, really, we don't need to suddenly start earning hundreds of dollars (though we wouldn't mind to, of course ). If we don't start earning something for PFF... I'm afraid I see dark times ahead of us.

Don't be shy about putting your ideas out here - no idea is stupid and like I said, even the smallest bits help. If you feel uncomfortable posting your idea where everyone can see it feel free to PM it to one of the moderators or mail it to rhynn @ pottermore . net (take out the spaces, of course)!

How about moving to a free forum? x3 It's not the classiest thing around... but it's free.

Yeah, but it's too limiting for our needs. We already have quite a few custom scripts running which can't be done on free forums. It doesn't look like it from the outside, but the forum software has been customized quite a bit already. So while it is definitely a good idea, it's not an option for us I'm afraid!

Have we thought about putting up a donation tab?
Also we could have a PFF auction. I know some members like to do things craft like and then they could sell them on with the proceeds going to PFF.

I think we should tell people this maybe more people could donate or help, even buy the products! Maybe someone who can could make products like Polly does?!? If anyone on here could, with the girls on here I think they would be rather popular!

If these aren't really good more ads may be our last resort!

I quite like the ideas Garnie put forth. I think a donation tab would be good. If you do it through paypal, I'd be willing to part with a few dollars, and I'm sure many other members feel the same. Also maybe take advantage of our talented crafters. I can knit, although a bit slow, I'd be willing to make scarves to sell and donate any proceeds to the forum (I'd just want to cover the cost of yarn, but any labour I'd charge for would go to PFF- I mostly just like knitting as something to do lol). I'm sure we could do other things. Maybe we could also get our good artists to do custom character drawings? Charge a couple bucks for some sketches and maybe a bit more depending on detail, medium, etc. I'm sure a lot of people would go for it. Good DA artists can charge quite a bit for commissions, so I think some people would love the idea of getting something for a small charge. Plus the doll divine makers don't make very original dolls/avatars. There's so much to offer on PFF and I'm sure a lot of members would love to chip in some time or money to help contribute.

I have a Ravenclaw scarf that I would be happy to get rid of but I can't really give the money to PFF as I don't have PayPal or anything like that

I haven't either but how about a kind of Ebay so other members can buy and sell , and PFF take a % commision?

We did used to have a donation option. Rose made a thread about donating to the forum too and nothing got donated so she took it off :/
I know it hasnt done well previously but maybe push the diagon shop some more? and like others have said feature stuff that members have made and you guys take like a commission?
