Okay, people-who-are-smarter-than-me... help!

I was recently sorted into Ravenclaw (oh, the irony), and now that I'm sorted, I am unable to access my Common Room. The page that appears reads, "Be patient, this page will be unlocked very soon" with the subheadline "Parts of the experience are locked so that the story is not ruined for you." A little lock appears in place of a "forward" arrow at the bottom of the page. Therefore, I cannot proceed to the next chapter. I've only seen one other person post about getting "stuck" here, so I'm not sure how widespread it is...?

Short of creating an entirely new account in Pottermore, I've tried virtually everything that has been suggested in previous posts. I've also submitted a plea to Pottermore, which they politely and understandably answered with a generic reply of "We're sorry. Your request has been passed on to the development team. Have a nice day!" And nothing since.

ANY suggestions, advice, and/or words of encouragement would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

Pumpkin, can you open the cauldron that is in use to see what is supposedly brewing in it?
If there is something in it, just fail the potion and it should unlock.
Also do you have only one cauldron, or several? Can you try brewing with some other?

I've sent this message to the support team:

I changed my e-mail in account settings, but when I try to retrieve my password or username, it only sends it if I provide the e-mail used when signing-up and not the one I changed to. If there is an option to change the e-mail, why it doesn't work?

Thanks in advance.

And they replied with this:

Thank you for your email.

Please make sure that your password is not longer than 16 characters.
Passwords are case sensitive, so check that the ‘Caps Lock’ button or ‘A’ light on your keyboard is not on. If it is on, then press the ‘Caps Lock’ key and try again.
If you are still having problems, it might be that you haven’t remembered your username or password correctly. You can recover your username or reset your password by clicking the ‘Forgotten your username?’ or ‘Forgotten your password?’ links on the Sign In page.

For further assistance with your inquiry we ask that you please refer to the FAQ in the Help section on the Pottermore Website:
https://www.pottermore.com/en/help

I hope that you find this information helpful.
Kind regards,
Anja
The Pottermore team

I'm not that fluent in English, but I think I was clear about the problem I have, and they gave an answer that doesn't fit my question.
Is there anyone with similar problem?

Since some days have gone by it is certainly possible that you've solved the problem already, but did anything strange happen at the end of your sorting? We've had someone who couldn't access the common room, but they got a "Try Again Later" message when they finished their sorting questions, logged of and back on and found themselves sorted, but without access to the common room

I've never tried to change my email, so haven't had this problem, but yes, your question was clear enough :?

PumpkinPasties619,
Can you get into the potions program at all? If you can go in and wave your wand at once. This will fail the potion and release the cauldron. Don't try to finish the potion, that will just leave you in the Potion's Loop and will lose another set of ingredients.

If you can't get in, contact Pottermore, they are the only ones that can unlock you cauldron for you.

Make sure, when using the potions program (or the dueling program) to have only 1 Pottermore window open, or errors will occur!!!!

Carol Days,
Pottermore sends out a standard letter first. This letter may or may not be appropriate to your problem. They get such large amounts of PMs that they can't answer every mail personally, at least not initially.

In your case I'd send a new PM saying that you think your account may have been hacked. Use that phrase exactly. You will probably get a form letter back saying they've passed the problem to the appropriate department and sometime later you will be able to get in with your original password. That's how it went with me. Keep us posted on your progress.

purplequill13496,
You are experiencing a really error. It's possible it occurred because you were browsing Pottermore in two or more browser windows (that a big no-no) or internet failed at just the wrong moment (one nano second of bad connection could have been enough; you wouldn't have noticed the interruption) or something else went wrong. Anyhow, this a glitch you can't fix. You need to contact Pottermore and tell them that the Sorting program has crashed and you are now unable to enter the common room.

To contact Pottermore go to the bottom of the Pottermore screen and click 'help', then click 'other', scroll down to 'what's next?' and click 'more help needed', fill out the form.
Please be polite and concise.
You are not the first or the only person this has happened to, nor will you be the last...

Nice to see you back Phoenix… I got a made potion out of it so I think it's fixed… it says my potion was 1% done brewing and I was really confused… I still don't know what happened though ~ my main guess is that someone hacked into my account but I dont know for sure… if that did happen I will probably have to make another account and I wouldn't want to be in another house so soon! :/ I don't know what to do! Do you have any ideas?

You're not out of the potions loop until you've stopped brewing and your cauldron has been released. The potion loops lets you brew and brew and brew and brew forever. That's why it's called to potions loop.

As for possible hacking: just to be on the safe side: go to your profile in Pottermore and check that the e-mail address under "Account Settings" is still yours. If it is not, change it back to right one and then change your password there as well. That should take care of any hackers. (Do write your new password down somewhere safely and DON'T change it back to the old one later.)

The Potions Loop is an old error on Pottermore. If you are in it you either keep restarting the potion brewing process from the beginning and never finishing or you keep redoing the second part. It's an error and NOT part of the game; you will NOT gain any points and you WILL use up ingredients. UNTIL you leave to Potions Loop you will NOT be able to gain any points with potions making.

I can't tell from your story if you are in the Potions Loop. If you are, you need to get out by waving the wand at once. If you are not, there maybe some other error or mistake. Let me know, so we can figure it out.
