PFF Roleplay Character Application & NPC Records

Postby Avis » August 14th, 2013, 12:39 pm

Welcome to the PFF Hogwarts RP

This roleplay takes place at Hogwarts, in the Harry Potter universe, but with a slight twist. None of the main or supporting characters from J.K. Rowling's books ever existed in our version, nor did the events of the Harry Potter books happen. Instead of Harry, Ron and Hermione, we have you, the player and whatever characters you come up with. And instead of Tom Marvolo Riddle, we have Gellert Grindelwald. Using the Nazi Third Reich as a cover for his own activities, Grindelwald has brought all of Mainland Europe under his reign. Under his rule, art, culture and magic have risen to new heights and, since he no longer needed the Nazis as allies, Grindelwald has put a stop to the persecution of Jews, Gypsies and Homosexuals. But all is not well, as those oppose Grindelwald simply... go up in smoke. Now Grindelwald turns his attention to the UK and Hogwarts..... How will this affect you? Can you stop him and what price will you pay? Join to find out! (written by Whispers)

If you would like to join the Hogwarts Roleplay, you will need to follow these steps below. Please be sure to read everything in this thread, as well as everything in our Plot Thread to get a feel for how this Roleplay works. Furthermore, make sure you read the PFF Roleplay Rules & Guidelines before continuing.

How to Join:

Spoiler: show
1) Fill out a character form below, and post it in this topic. Wait until you are approved by an RP Moderator or Leader before proceeding. You may post in the OOC thread while you wait for approval, but please do NOT post in any other RP topic until you are approved. If you are not approved, then please follow what the RP Moderator said to get your character approved.
2) Once your character is approved, you should make your character’s profile in the Character Records Subforum. Be sure to check the index to read about and find other RP characters.
3) Any questions (unless about approval) and out of character chatter should go in the OOC Talk and Questions topic.
4) Please be active. While there is no hard rule for how often players should post, we ask that you check in once every 2 days or so. This way, the RP can keep moving. If you can't post (due to lack of time or inspiration), then please move your character to a time and place where they're not interacting with other students. This way you don't leave people 'stuck' in a conversation or event with someone who's not replying.

Other Characters:

In the second post of this thread will be a list of all other ACTIVE RP’ers characters, organized by house and year. You'll also find the NPC Student Records there.

In the third post of this thread will be a list of all Professors.

Suggestions for Creating your Character:

Spoiler: show
These tips are from Whispers:

How to make an interesting PC:

• Create a balanced character. This is important, so more below.
• Give your character a unique feel and personality. Picture them in your mind and then tell us what you see.
• Add history. What was their childhood like; friends & family
• How do they feel about being a witch/wizard? How do they feel about Hogwarts?
• What are their most/least favorite classes and extra-curricular activities?
• Describe any friends or foes at school.
* Your character shouldn't be related to canon characters. We are set in a Harry Potter universe but no canon characters are in our RP in any way, shape, or form.

How to build a balanced PC:

• Make a list of strengths and weaknesses. This make it easier to count if you have (roughly) as many of the ones as the other.
• Make a list of skills and grade them ‘average, good, excellent.’ Are skills (sort and quantity) age-appropriate for PC? Are they realistic (most people have average or good skills with only a few excellent)? Note: Excellent skills tie in to strengths/weaknesses list.
• Make your weaknesses count. Being “Shy but in a cute way” is not a weakness
• Embrace your weaknesses. They bring more life to a character than a long list of strengths.

NPC write-ups

Spoiler: show
You can also post NPCs in the Character Application thread. For example because you simply had a GREAT idea for an NPC and want to share it, or because you want to fully detail your character's best friend / kid sister / mortal frenemy. Such detailed NPCs are subjects to approval just as PCs, though generally we'll be more lenient about NPCs (they don't need to be quite as balanced and playable as PCs). After approval, most NPCs will be added to the NPC roster and anyone can use them. If you want to be the only one to control a certain NPC, for example because you have plans for them, please let us know on their application and after approval you can create a post for them in your own Character Record thread (do not make a separate thread for them, simply give them a post in your existing thread). Do take care that your 'exclusive' NPC does not become an alternate PC though (there are no exact criteria for this, but we'll be looking at how much you post with your NPC vs your PC and the kind of actions they take). If it does turn into an alternate PC, we'll ask you to either return the NPC to the common pool, or officially upgrade them to PC (in which case we might ask you to change some characteristics that were fine for an NPC but are unbalanced for a PC)

Character Forms:

You may start with two Characters. Depending on how active you are in the Roleplay, your maximum can increase to 4.
WE HAVE A SURPLUS OF RAVENCLAWS AND STUDENTS WHO EXCEL AT POTIONS. You're free to make one of those as your primary character if you want, but your secondary character (if any) must be different.

~~ Active PC Students ~~

All students, their classes and grades
Spoiler: show
A schedule listing all students (PCs and NPCs), their classes and grades can be found here. Please PM Biologist or Whispers with which electives and extra curricular your PC has, as well as their grades (as far as not yet mentioned in your character application).

Here is the guide to how grading works:

Any classes specifically described as as 'omg awful" (or a variation thereof): D(readful)
Any classes listed as weakness: P(oor)
Core classes not listed, or any classes listed as average: A(verage)
Non-core classes not listed: A(verage) or E(xceed Expectations), as students probably choose subjects they're good at
Any classes listed as strength: E(xceed Expectations)
Any classes specified as 'omg amazing' (or a variation thereof): O(utstanding)

There is some leeway though; if you give us a good explanation why your grades are higher than described above, we'll allow you to move one grade up.

~~ NPC Students ~~

(NPC students are free to use by anyone unless otherwise noted)

Lewis Alphonse Wedgewood, 1st year Gryffindor NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: Muggleborn

Age: 11

Year: 1st

House: Gryffindor

Patronus: none yet, would probably be a sprite

Wand: cypress, Dragon Heartstring core, 12 ½ inches, flexible: wands of cypress find their soul mates among the brave, the bold and the self-sacrificing: those who are unafraid to confront the shadows in their own and others’ natures

Appearance: Lewis is an energetic boy. He is of average height for his age and he is very fit. He likes to do sports and games. He has green eyes and blond hair.

Personality: Enthusiastic and energetic. Likes to talk, has an opinion about everything (and usually a well founded one). He doesn't scare easily and isn't afraid to mingle with older students if he thinks there is something interesting going on.

History: Alphonse has always had an interest in newspapers and reporting. On his muggle school he was a reporter for the school paper and dreamed about writing stories about grave injustice and shocking truths. He never had to, luckily for him. He still has that drive: to ferret out injustice and bring it to the light, no matter what the consequences are to his own safety. He has a great sense of responsibility to the truth and is not easily persuaded to lie in anyone's favour.

He is an avid photographer and has had a camera from an early age. When he discovered he was a wizard and that photographs in the wizarding world were actually moving, he was sold. With his money (originally meant for possible additional school supplies he might like) he purchased a magical camera and couldn't be happier. He also subscribed to every magical newspaper he could find and set his delivery address to Hogwarts.

In the two days he has been at Hogwarts, he has made more photographs than during his whole life, it seems: he is never seen without his camera. He is rather overly enthusiastic about the magical improvement of his hobby and will take pictures of everything he finds interesting, regardless of whether people like it or not.

He plans to erect a school paper or if there is already one, become its new editor in chief. He will be looking for reporters and plans to use articles from the official papers for opinion pieces in the school paper. Anyone with a thirst for news and a quick quill can apply.

He loves the new lessons about magic and is a very good student of the history of magic. Charms and Transfigurations are his other favorite subjects. He is a bit too energetic and enthusiastic to have the patience for Potions, and the subjects of Defense against the Dark Arts scare him a little (although he'll NEVER admit it!). Flying is something he has to learn the hard way, for he has no talent for it.

Strengths: History of magic, Transfiguration, Charms

Average skills: Astronomy, Herbology

Weaknesses: Potions, Flying, Defense against the Dark Arts, curiosity

Other skills: has a talent and artistic eye for photographs.

Lewis has all the necessary magical chemicals and tools to develop his own magical photographs. He likes to practice this art of development in his room, using his four poster bed (with heavy curtains) as the dark room he needs for this work. His room mates are not very happy with the chemical smell, so he tries to keep it to a minimum and is looking for an alternative.
He would like to integrate digital photography with magical pictures for a more 'snap-shot' style of taking pictures. He has already come up with twelve different theories. All rather impractical.

Edward Arvoitus Gaunt, 1st year Ravenclaw, NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: Pure Blood

Age: 11

Year: 1st

House: Ravenclaw

Patronus: none yet, would probably be a sphinx

Wand: elm, Pheonix Feather core, 13 inches, rigid: elm wands prefer owners with presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity

Appearance: Edward is of average height and has dark brown eyes with black hair and tan skin.

Personality: Edward loves riddles, enigma's and mysteries. He has a sharp mind and can perform multiple tasks at once, but he tends to obsess over details and 'solving the problem'. He is very intelligent and has a razor sharp mind. He can be a bit aloof, but it is usually because he is worrying about his parents.

He likes to test his fellow students by posing them riddles of his own devising, for instance when someone wants something from him. Not everyone can appreciate that.

History: Edward grew up in a pure blooded family, that has fallen on hard times. The monetary problems were kept from him during his youth, but he has felt his father's despair and his mother's worry keenly.

He has taken it upon himself to become one of the greatest wizards of all time and bring his family back to prominence, ending his parent's problems.

During the ceremony he was a hat-stall between Slytherin (ambition) and Ravenclaw (intelligence), but the hat placed him in Ravenclaw. He loves his new house and is eager to learn everything he can.

He has several books on riddles and problem solving and is devilishly good at solving puzzles and conundrums. His one track mind makes it somewhat of a challenge to get close to him: he doesn't easily let people befriend him. They have to have the same love for riddles as him.

He treats all of his classes as challenges and problems to be solved by his superior intellect. With some classes it works better than with other classes.

Strengths: Potions, Herbology, History of Magic

Average skills: Charms

Weaknesses: Transfiguration, Defense against the Dark Arts, Astronomy, flying

Other skills: Edward loves sugary treats, like twizzlers, and is always seen in the company of at least a small bag of the colourful stuff.

Gwynevere Victoria Leroi, 1st year Slytherin, NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: Pure Blood

Age: 11

Year: 1st

House: Slytherin

Patronus: none yet, would probably be a kingfisher

Wand: apple, Unicorn Tail Hair core, 11 inches, flexible: It is said that the possessor of an apple wand will be well-loved and long-lived, often a person of great personal charm to find their perfect match in an applewood wand

Appearance: Gwynevere is a very beautiful girl already. She has certainly got the elfin features that her family prides itself on. Her hair is long and light blond, with deep blue eyes.

Personality: Gwynevere is a girl who is a bit distant. In her heart she wants to become the quintessential witch, but she doesn't know what that means exactly. Therefore she is adamant in getting good grades in charms, transfigurations, potions and flying on a broom. The fact that she fails in the latter makes her very frustrated. Her ambition is very strong, paired with her pure blood, it got her in House Slytherin.

She finds the vehemence of the pure blood issue frightening, for she suspects she has some fae blood, though her family prides itself on their purity. She dissociates herself from the friendly animosity between houses and has decided to give everyone a chance.

History: Gwynevere is the younger sister of Alexander Philip Charles Leroi and that is how she grew up: in his shadow. She has somewhat of a love-hate feeling for her brother: he is family, but he is an impossible boy to live with. Therefore she decided from an early age to become the witch she wants to be and not let anyone decide for her.

At Hogwarts she has taken to be in the background, her brother hasn't even deigned to show her around. She knows that if he sees her mingling with other houses, he'll be furious. Part of her fears that, part of her wants to do it out of spite. But she *wants* to do it because it is fun to meet other people. So she can be a bit stand-offish, but will be eager to make friends if persued.

Strengths: Potions, Charms, Transfiguration

Average skills: Herbology, Defense against the Dark Arts

Weaknesses: History of Magic, Astronomy, flying

Other skills: she has a talent for languages and speaking with other creatures in their native language. It is a talent she has yet to discover.

Antony Blakemore, 2nd year Hufflepuff: NPC
Spoiler: show
Antony Blakemore
Age, Year & House: 12, 2nd, Hufflepuff.
Blood Status: Half-blood.
Patronus: Too young to be able to cast. When old enough: Turtle ( Self contained, creative source, Earth, informed decisions, planning, adaptability. )
Wand: Beech, Unicorn Hair, 10 2/3 "
Appearance: Antony is short, even for his age; it's unlikely he'll top 5'5 as an adult. His hair is naturally ginger in color, often 'spiked' and messy-looking.

Likes (3+)
- Owls. Everyone is fond of them.
- Jazz.
- Swimming.

Dislikes (3+):
- Loud (rock) music.
- Public speaking.
- Puffskeins.
- Werewolves.

Tony is a laid-back sort, detached and with a tendency to go with the flow - quite unlike his impulsive and outgoing elder brother. He's not excessively talkative, though when he does say something, people sit up and listen. Good-humored , in his own way, it's difficult to rattle him.

The second child of Griffin and Phoebe Blakemore, Antony showed his laid-back nature at an early age. It was a good thing too, as then-six year old Devon had already proved to be a handful. The little red-head benefited from his exuberant older brother, as his parents tended to let him do his own thing, exhausted by the antics of the older Devon. His letter to Hogwarts came as no surprise to any in the Blakemore family, though the House he would be sorted into was. In a family of Gryffindors, young Tony was the first in generations to be sorted elsewhere.

Strengths, Weaknesses, Other Skills:

Strengths (3+):
- Defensive magic.
- Observant.
- Difficult to upset.

Weaknesses (3+):
- Laconic.
- When upset, shuts down, as opposed to showing emotion.
- Indifferent to Quidditch, a sore point with his brother.

Cameron Dwyer, 3rd year Hufflepuff, Chaser: WolfMoon only
Spoiler: show
Age, Year & House: 13, 3rd year, Hufflepuff
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Patronus: Will be a rabbit.
Optional: Wand: Rowan, Dragon Hearstring, 10in, slightly springy

Cameron is 159cm tall and quite thin. He has blonde hair and green eyes. His skin is rather pale.

Personality: Cameron is friendly, diligent, loyal and stubborn. He is insecure and shy if he has to talk to strangers and teachers but he is rather communicative when talking to his friends and closest housemates.

History: Cameron Dwyer was born in Belfast, Ireland to Muggle mother Charlotte and Muggleborn father Alan. He has two brothers, Luke and Ethan (both 8 years old) and a sister Scarlett (10 years old). He had relatives in France who had escaped to Belfast and now live with the Dwyers. Cameron attended a Muggle school till he received his Hogwarts letter. His father who was a Hufflepuff Chaser during his time at Hogwarts taught him how to handle a broomstick, so he was pretty good at flying from the first day at Hogwarts on. He joined the Quidditch team in his second year and practises hard to get better and better. He hadn't come in contact with any kind of magic except flying till he started attending Hogwarts. His best friend at Hogwarts is Tavish MacKinlay.

Interests: Quidditch, insects (has an insectarium in his dorm), cryptozoology, strategy games, his cat Mowgli, watching Tavish's performances with the Hogwarts Orchestra.
Strenghts: Quidditch (Chaser), CoMC, Herbology, strategy games
Weaknesses: Shyness, insecurity, Astronomy, Transfiguration. He can sometimes be a little clumsy.

Excels at CoMC, Herbology and HoM.
Average at Ancient Runes, Charms, Potions and DADA.
Bad at Astronomy and Transfiguration.

Finn Doyle, 4th year Gryffindor, Chaser: NPC
Spoiler: show
Age, Year & House: 14, 4th year, Gryffindor
Blood Status: Half
Patronus: Kingfisher, for now shield but eventually solid.
Optional: Wand: Fir, Dragon Heartstring, 13in, pliant
Finn is average height and husky build, strawberry-blonde hair that's kept medium length. His eyes are icy-blue, and quite fierce. Freckles cover his face and arms, and increase with the amount of sunlight he is in contact with. Picture.
Personality: Finn is outgoing. He easily expresses his emotions and openly chats about what's going on inside his head. He has "no filter", and sometimes it can get him into trouble. He's a fearless sort; always jumping ahead of the pack, climbing the tallest tree, or attempting to tame the wildest Blast-Ended Skrewt.
Has a mother (Muggle) and father (Wizard)
Lives in Chudleigh village in England - Lives next-door to Axis E. Fletcher (childhood friends)
Adores the Chudley Cannons - aspires to become a professional Quidditch player. Is Chaser for Team Gryffindor.
Strengths, Weaknesses, Other Skills:
Very positive self-image
Very good at flying
Expresses thoughts openly

Quite reckless
Openly tries to out-best others, often results in failure

Excels in:

Priscilla Mudbanks, 4th year Hufflepuff: NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: half blood

Age: 14

Year: 4th

House: Hufflepuff

Patronus: incorporeal

Wand: Fir, Unicorn tail hair, 10 inches, fragile: When she sets her mind to something, she is not easily swayed to change her opinion; she has weathered bullies and once escaped death after a magical mishap at home. Her magic is consistent, if somewhat lacking in willpower. She has a very bad self image and her mind is somewhat fragile.

Appearance: Priscilla is a girl that has not yet grown into her true self. Her appearance can be considered 'not pretty' although bullies have persistently called her ugly. Her eyes are grey and her hair is a mousy brown colour and hangs to her shoulders. She wears spectacles, another source of pestering. She tries to be unassuming and in the background and usually isn't noticed much.

Personality: she is someone who likes to complain, for she thinks it is a bonding thing: shared experiences and all that. Her outlook on life is rather bleak and it shines through in her interactions with others, which makes her a somewhat unpleasant person to be with. When someone gives her attention, she clings to that person.

History: Priscilla was a hat stall. Not smart enough for Ravenclaw, nor brave enough for Gryffindor, she wasn't ambitious enough for Slytherin either and even the hard-working and loyal aspects of Hufflepuff were absent. So the sorting hat placed her in Hufflepuff by default, because Hufflepuff takes the students that belong to none of the other houses

She is very insecure about herself due to experiences in her childhood and her inability to find friends. Born of two half blood wizards, she was overjoyed to be going to Hogwarts, to finally fit in. So far though, she has not yet succeeded in that.

After a magical mishap at home, where she and her parents almost died – an event she does not talk about, ever – she has developed a fear of fire and fire spells. It also hinders her in Charms class as she unknowingly links charms to the disaster at home.

Her driving goal is to be liked. Since she fails in this guise, she has taken to other strategies. She found a recipe for polyjuice potion once in an old potions book she found in a cluttered room, and saw an opportunity. After a few practice runs, she has perfected making it (in her third year!) and always carries a little on her. She buys the ingredients in Hogsmeade, using her allowance, or mail orders the safer ones. She secretly gathers hair from pretty girls in her year and uses them to change into them, changing the uniform with a transfiguration spell – something she is also very good at. At first, she used it in an abandoned bathroom and just looked at her self, amazed. Later on, she gathered her courage and went out into the school and interacted with students. She loves the attention and friendliness pretty people receive. This is her big secret.

Strengths: Transfigurations, Potions, Defense against the dark arts, polyjuice potion

Average skills: Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures

Weaknesses: History of magic, Astronomy, Charms, low self esteem,

Other skills: Acting and accents

NB: this character can be used to impersonate other characters. IF you want to impersonate a PC, please, PM the original player to get their consent!

Sloane Coghlan, 4th Year Ravenclaw: NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood Status: Halfblood
Age, Year & House: 14, 4th, Ravenclaw
Patronus: Shield, for now
Appearance: Sloane Coghlan
Personality: Sloane Coghlan has all the natural talents of a typical Ravenclaw. She's both smart and creative. However, her creativity drives her far more than her academic prowess. She gets by on natural intelligence. She chooses to indulge in creative outlets rather than study. Studying is a rarity for Sloane. She always has a notebook on her for sketching or writing, but it's not uncommon for her to forget her textbooks in her dorm. Her teachers find her to be short-sighted, and are often disappointed that she doesn't put forth more effort.
Strengths, Weaknesses, Other Skills:
Strengths: Intelligent
Weaknesses: Apathetic (academically)
Other Skills: Artistic

Marek Ebner, 4th Year Slytherin: NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood Status: Pureblood. Western/Central European heritage.
Age, Year & House: 14, 4, Slytherin
Patronus: Inconsistent, Vulture. (Observant, Opportunistic)
Wand: N/A (Might decide later)
Appearance: Tan skin, black messy hair, light blue eyes. Stout build. Not quite muscular, but not overweight or obese.

Personality: Very driven in his motivations. Marek plans on entering the Ministry of Magic upon leaving Hogwarts. His hope is to enter the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, in the Improper Use of Magic office if he's lucky. From there he wishes to become a member of the Wizengamot. With such high ambition, he loaded up on all the classes he deemed necessary for a potential future in the Ministry. With so many classes, he sometimes has to choose which ones to cut corners in to get all his work done.
He hopes to become a Prefect, and follow it up with being Head Boy, to boost his chances of making it into the Ministry. As such, he can often be found trying to break up trouble. He's not afraid to speak up to anyone if he thinks they're in the wrong - friends, foes, pureblood, muggleborn - nobody's exempt from the rules. If he feels there's trouble that can't be prevented, then he'll simply walk away - he won't be associated with it if he can't stop it. His more troublesome friends have grown used to his occasional lack of support.

Strengths: Ambitious, Driven, History of Magic, Charms, Muggle Studies
Weaknesses: Self-Centered, Stuffy, Astronomy
Electives/Extra-Curriculars: Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies, Ghoul Studies

Iris Morningstar, 4th Year Slytherin: NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood Status: Pureblood.
Age, Year & House: 14, 4, Slytherin
Patronus: Incorporeal. Eventually Weasel (Intelligent, Mischievous)
Wand: N/A
Appearance: Short auburn (nearly red) hair, on the shorter side (5'4")

Personality: An unruly, free-swinging girl who just can't seem to put her wand away. She's skilled at Charms, Transfiguration, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Yet with all her potential she has no desire to have a lofty career. She loves owls and would be quite content to work for the Owl Post. When she's not in the owlery caring for the school owls, she can be found in the hallways hexing unsuspecting passersby. She often flaunts and brags about her skillful spellwork, which turns people away. Not to mention her disregard for when she's allowed to use her wand has lost countless points for Slytherin.

Strengths: Charms, Transfiguration, DADA, CoMC, Gutsy
Weaknesses: Lazy, Mischievous, History of Magic, Potions
Electives/Extra-Curriculars: CoMC, Muggle Studies

Alexander Philip Charles Leroi, 4th year Slytherin: NPC
Spoiler: show
Age, year and house: 14, 4th year Slytherin
Blood Status: Pureblood

Philip is the son of the pureblood family Leroi. It is English with strong roots in France. He grew up in England, but has frequently visited France and speaks French as fluently as English. This adds to his feeling of superiority.
His father heads an impressive trade enterprise and has friends in important positions in the ministries of several European countries, including England. He has always imposed upon his son the importance of the Leroi family in England. It would be audacious to call themselves royalty, but it is not far off.
This has made Philip an elitist as well. If you are from a pureblood family, he is your best friend. If the purebloods fraternize with the rest, though, they earn marks on his black list.
He scoffs at anything that is not pureblood and well connected (though he is smart enough to hide it well.) He can flawlessly find other weaknesses to exploit in the riff-raff of halfbloods and muggleborn, giving him ample opportunity to harass them without showing his true colours.
He usually operates with a few friends and they don't shun the more painful pranks if they think they can get away with it.

Olivia Good, 5th year Hufflepuff: NPC
Spoiler: show

She is considered by most to be shy, kind, fair and sympathetic to man and animal alike. She has also been labeled as a coward. Something Olivia doesn't like but admits that it is true. She is known to have a 'scary' side on occasion due to her strong sense of whats right and wrong. She fears death and the whispered threats of oppression looming over the horizon.
Olivia grew up helping her father and grandparents around their farms while her mother was at work, she being a weather meteorologist. Olivia has one older sister, Muggle, who is starting university this year. Olivia has been friends with Thalle since third year. When she felt bad for him doing poorly in Care of Magical Creatures and offered to tutor him. She was shocked when the following year he asked her out on the first Hogsmeade weekend. She had awkwardly agreed and although the day had been enjoyable she knew by their first kiss that she did not have romantic feeling towards him. She tried telling him, repeatedly, but she would always chicken out of it at the last minute. Now almost a year later she is ashamed of not telling Thalle about her feelings towards him on their first date. Olivia hopes to talk with Thalle soon, preferably before the end of the first term and Winter Holidays, since she has developed feelings for another boy in their year.

Besides the drama with Thalle she has had a wonderful time studying at Hogwarts. Blossoming in both Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures, and the added joy of making the swim team in her forth year. She has been known to lend a helping hand when its needed in the school's hospital wing, whenever they are short staffed. Although her classmates have commented that she is destined to be a healer Olivia is unsure about her future. She knows that after finishing Hogwarts she will take a year off from studies and help around her grandparent's farm. She secretly dreams of becoming a mugwump one day.

James Mustelus, 5th year Gryffindor: NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: half blood

Age: 16

Year: 5th

House: Gryffindor (almost hatstall between Gryffindor (courage) and Slytherin (ambition))

Patronus: Shield form

Wand: acacia, unicorn tail, 10 ¾ inches, nice and supple: he adapts, is subtle and of small physique, but steady in his magic and true to his word.

Appearance: slim and quiet, he has a sharp nose and slim face, which gives him a weasel-like appearance. His humble (and poor) past and his frail frame have given him a fragile health. He usually has a perpetual cold in winter and wears a house scarf most of the time, since he just can't get warm enough. Physical activities are kept to a minimum, though he is an avid Quidditch supporter.

Personality: ambitious and courageous, he has climbed from his humble past to someone who matters. He is proud and shrewd, a man of his word, but can be extremely petty and cruel when crossed or betrayed.

History: He grew up in the care of a wizard's orphanage in Cornwall. He never knew his parents, all he knew was that at least one of them had to have been a wizard. He has fought for an important place in the orphanage. He had a talent for knowing how to get what people wanted, which he perfected to an art form. He made new 'friends' easily and when he could do someone a favour, he always asked a favour in return. One that he could call upon later.

In Hogwarts, he has taken on the same role: he knows how to get what you need or want and he'll ask you a favour in the future in return. Since students at Hogwarts rarely want for anything normal like sweets or clothes, his portfolio shifted to the more illegal goods. If there is something you are not allowed to have on School Grounds, but you want it anyway, he is the one who is most likely to get it for you.

Strengths: Charms and Transfigurations, Divination and Astronomy

Average skills: Herbology, arithmancy,

Weaknesses: Defence against the dark arts, potions, History of magic, bad health.

Other skills: he is adept in getting in and out of places unseen, is usually one of the first to hear rumours and has an uncanny knack for figuring out what people need. He might be a budding ligilimens, but if that is true he does not know it (he would certainly make use of it more often if he did).

Howard Philip Blotts, 5th year Ravenclaw: NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: pure blood

Age: 15

Year: 5th

House: Ravenclaw

Patronus: Jackdaw

Wand: Elm, Phoenix feather, 10 inches, rigid. Howard is an elegant and sophisticated wizard, who learns quickly and isn't easily swayed from his beliefs.

Appearance: He is a quiet and confident young man with dark blond hair and blue-grey eyes. He is not very physically impressive and tends to wear boring clothes. He has spectacles and a rather bad eyesight (-5/-6). He is never seen without a book.

Personality: Howard is a curious boy. He wants to know everything. His extensive reading has given him an encyclopedic knowledge and an air of superiority. He can have difficulties relating with others, though, and relies on his acute sense of logic to deal with people. If people think he is cold, calculating, harsh and brutally honest, he doesn't care. In the world of academics, you don't need social skills, he believes.

History: Howard is the third son of the Blotts family from the London branch. His uncle (twice removed) is one of the proprietors of Flourish & Blotts booksellers in Diagon Alley and he grew up with books. Always an avid reader, he devoured every book he could lay his hands on and was excited beyond belief to be allowed to finally start reading the books for Hogwarts when his letter arrived.

He has spent a lifetime in the bookstore in Diagon Alley and was thrilled to find out that Hogwarts had a library the size of a cathedral. He shares the love and care for books with the librarian and after diligently helping with putting books back in the right place (never misfiled a single book), addressing students who mistreated a book and never causing any trouble or ruckus, Howard has been awarded the position of assistant. He couldn't be happier.

He knows that the Darks Arts are dangerous. He believes that to defend yourself from it, you should know everything there is about it. 'Know thy enemy' so to speak. So when he helps out in the library, whenever possible, he sneaks into the restricted section to read the tomes of forbidden lore. To master the dark arts so he can understand them.

Strengths: Defense against the Dark Arts, Ancient Runes, History of Magic, Ancient Studies

Average skills: Astronomy, Transfiguration, Charms

Weaknesses: Herbology, Potions, Care of Magical Creatures.

Other skills: he knows how to cast at least one unforgivable curse: Imperio!

Damian Whitetower, 5th year Slytherin (Prefect, Chaser): NPC
Spoiler: show
Damian Whitetower

Blood status: Pureblood
Year, House: 5th year Slytherin (Prefect, Chaser)
Patronus: A white raven.

Appearance: Average height for his age, somewhat lanky build. Dark brown hair with blue eyes. Handsome features. Deep, melodic voice (for a teenage boy).

Personality: Talented and dedicated to his studies; gets excellent marks as a result. Proud and somewhat reserved, but amiable (for the most part). Noble bearing; natural born leader.

Bio: Damian is a son of the Whitetower family; one of Englands oldest and most prominent Pureblooded families. Like many Pureblooded, Damian is not malicious towards Muggleborn and Halfbloods, but he does firmly believe that it was Salazar Slytherin's express wish that only Purebloods should be admitted to his House and that this wish should be respected. Therefore, while Damian believes that there is a place at Hogwarts for non-Pureblooded, he also believes that this place is *not* in House Slytherin. Not wanting to risk expulsion, however, he merely treats Muggleborn and Halfbloods in House Slytherin as if they don't exist. Oddly enough, he is quite friendly and helpful towards non-Pureblooded in other Houses, but this behaviour is often lost in his reputation for handling those in Slytherin.

Crush: Being of 'that age' where boys start to be interested in girls and firmly commited to finding a suitable pureblooded match, Damian seems to believe he has a crush on Serena du Lac. In truth, he has a crush on his *image* of Serena (very pretty, dignified and from another very old pureblooded family) and she's not particularly interested. It might be interesting to see what happens if Damian falls for a Muggleborn or Halfblood girl.

Very good with a wand (Transfiguration, Charms, DaDA).Natural born leader.
Very good flier; is on Quidditch team (Chaser).
Natural born leader.

Natural charisma *completely* absent when dealing with non-Pureblood Slytherins and this has given him a somewhat bad reputation.
Not good at subjects that require patience or a gentle touch (CoMC, Herbology, Potions).
Too focused on picking the 'right' friends instead of real friends.

Arturus Merlinus Rosewood, 6th year Gryffindor: NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: pure blood

Age: 16

Year: 6th

House: Gryffindor

Patronus: Lion

Wand: Aspen, Dragon Heartstring, 11 ¾ inches, firm: he is strong and willful, not easily swayed to change his opinion and he is devilishly good at duels.

Appearance: Arturus is a handsome man with a rogue-ish demeanor and an athletic build. He is always well dressed, however casual he might seem, and isn't afraid to show his wealth.

Personality: Arturus is a competitive young man. He likes to be challenged mentally and physically and he expects others to appreciate a challenge as well. This makes him somewhat of a bully, as he pushes others around for their own good: to bring out the best in them. Not everybody can appreciate this, though.

He is jovial to his friends and likes to flaunt his money by sharing it: he is the most likely one to give rounds of butterbeer during Hogsmeade weekends.

He is somewhat of an elitist and has formed a 'secret society' where members duel amongst themselves for gains and prestige (never for wands, mind you). Gaining entrance into this club is as much dependent on skill as it is on connections and friends.

He mostly plays by the rules but is not afraid to bend or break Hogwarts' rules when he deems them inappropriate or outdated. He'll never cheat, though.

History: Arturus is the eldest son of the proud pure blood Rosewood family. They have always played a part in the history of Britain's magical community and are prominently invited to every important social gathering. Their connections to the government and other pure blood families makes them well known. As one of the important land owners, their capital comes from rent, building projects and lucrative interest rates. Arturus' father is a veritable 'financial wizard' and Arturus is enjoying the benefits of his father's genius.

His father has demanded Arturus take Arithmancy and divination, to be able to take over his business one day. He is not going to follow in his father's footsteps, though, for Arturus dreams of becoming a famous Auror. He has spent a lot of time honing his skills as a duelist and has devoured all the knowledge and information he could find on defense against the Dark Arts. He has done his utmost to get five N.E.W.T.s with an E (though for Charms and DADA he easily passed with an O). The two subjects he kept to ensure he has access to his father's wealth are dragging him down, though.

Strengths: Defense against the Dark Arts, Charms, dueling

Average skills: Herbology, Transfigurations, Potions, Care of Magical Creatures

Weaknesses: Arithmancy, Divination, can be somewhat of a bully.

Other skills: He knows how to motivate people, sometimes by pushing them the bad way (bullying), but sometimes by pushing them the good way. He has a way with people and can be very good at getting them enthousiastic about something.

Jarvis Flanaghan, 6th year Gryffindor NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: Half-Blood

Age: 16

Year: 6th

House: Gryffindor

Patronus: Eagle

Wand: Spruce, Dragon Heartstring core, 14 inches, supple: a wand for a bold spell-caster with a good sense of humour - it becomes a superb helper, intensely loyal to their owners and capable of producing particularly flamboyant and dramatic effects

Appearance: tall and muscular boy, good looks with blond hair and blue eyes. Tries out what he would look like with a beard.

Personality: Jarvis is a fun person to be with. He is very jovial and likes to tell jokes. He also likes to pull pranks, which is something not everybody can appreciate.

History: Jarvis grew up with a muggle mother and a wizard father. His father is a huge Quidditch fan and has taken him and his mother and sister to countless of matches. It has sparked a fire in Jarvis as well and he wants to become an international star playing in the National Quidditch team of England as a chaser.

He dreams of the announcer calling his name in a full stadion, the cheer of the crowd as he scores or makes a daring stunt. He has a very elaborate grooming kit for his state-of-the-art broom stick, his most prized possession.

He knows scouts must be visiting the games that he is playing in in his sixth year, so he is dead set on performing the best he can. He is not satisfied with his latest results and is experimenting with potions that will enhance his skills. He knows those substances are not allowed, but once freed from the burden of school work and the distractions of lessons, he can focus solely on Quidditch and he is certain he can attain the same results without the potions then.

Strengths: Flying, Potions, History of magic,

Average skills: Transfiguration, Charms, Herbology

Weaknesses: Defense against the Dark Arts, addiction

Other skills: he has bought a potions book on ‘health enhancing potions’, so he has leanred the recipes of a few illegal potions.

Edith Jane Nesbitt, 6th year Hufflepuff, NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: Muggle born

Age: 16

Year: 6th

House: Hufflepuff

Patronus: a white lion

Wand: Pear, Unicorn Tail hair core, 11½ inches, flexible: a wand for the warm hearted, the generous and the wise.

Appearance: Edith is a girl with an unassuming appearance. She is of averaga height and build, dresses in normal muggle clothes and she has brown hair with green eyes,

Personality: Edith is a dreamer. She loves to fantasize and come up with stories that she writes down in her storybook. That doesn’t mean she is distracted or vague, but it does mean she has a rather unusual point of reference, as she takes her stories into account when confronted with the real world.

History: Edith was born in a family of writers and grew up with all the stories she could ever want. It has greatly inspired her to think up her own stories and from an early age she has collected her fantasies into ‘story books’.

When she received the letter from Hogwarts, she was strengthened in the belief that she was someone who was more than just a girl and it spiked her creativity, resulting in six storybooks being filled with magical stories.

There is only one thing that is unsettling: her nightmares. From the moment she started writing, she started to have nightmares. They always have a certain element that returns and it scares her so much that she’d rather stay awake after it than go back to sleep. It is the cause for many a sleepless night and sometimes it affects her mood and school results. She records her nightmares in her book of dark stories, a secret she has never shared with anyone. If read and interpreted by a skilled diviner, it would certainly reveal a dark and sinister presence…

Strengths: Defense against the Dark Arts, Charms, Potions,

Average skills: Transfiguration, Herbology

Weaknesses: nightmares

Other skills: writer of fiction and poetry, is a very good writer.

Selene Phoebe Gaelach, 6th year Ravenclaw, NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: Pure Blood

Age: 16

Year: 6th

House: Ravenclaw

Patronus: White maned Horse

Wand: Silver Lime, Pheonix Feather core, 11¾ inches, swishy: this wand has a reputation to work best for Seers and those skilled in the arts of Ligilimency.

Appearance: Selene is beautiful, she is tall and slender and has long, thick night black hair that she usually adorns with an elegant silver chain.

Personality: Selene is a very calm and contemplative girl. She likes to think before she acts and hates being rushed: everything will happen in her own time. That may make her seem slow, but she is very intelligent, like all Ravenclaws.

History: Selene was born in the Irish pure blood family of Gaelach, where she grew up on the family estate. The wind and the birds were her only friends, until the age of eight, when she was finally allowed to meet other children by her strict parents.

Being around nanny’s and tutors has given her a sharp mind, but also a very poor judgement of character. As a result of being fooled too many times, she tends to be standoffish when she is approached by people she doesn’t know, and even when she feels she can trust someone, she never really does. This makes her rather lonely.

She most of the time she doesn't mind being alone and she can often be found outside or wandering the corridors after hours - if you catch her off guard, that is. Especially on nights of the Full Moon.

From an early age, it was apparent she had a beautiful voice. She received singing lessons and has developed her voice into an instrument of perfection. When she sings is the only time she truly feels connected with the world.

She has even learned to give her singing a magical edge and can weave a limited number of spells in her song. She finds it frightening and exhilarating. It strengthens her belief that music can be magic. Her teacher of elemental magic suspects it has a different cause: she might be a Ligilimens, sending out her powers through natural magic in her singing.

Strengths: Charms, Care of Magical Creatures, Astronomy, Intuitive and Elemental magic

Average skills: Potions, Transfiguration, Defense against the dark arts

Weaknesses: flying, afraid of heights, poor judge of character.

Other skills: She has a phenomenal voice. When she sings, people go quiet and listen. She is one of two prized members of the Frog Choir and its conductor already hates to have to let her go in two years time.

Peter Tiberius Wellesly, 6th year Slytherin, NPC
Spoiler: show
Blood status: Pure Blood (affected with lycanthropy)

Age: 16

Year: 6th

House: Slytherin

Patronus: a vicious tiger

Wand: Blackthorn, Dragon Heartstring core, 12¾ inches, rigid: the wand for a warrior, the wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded.

Appearance: Tall and lanky, black hair and blue eyes make him seem cold and unapproachable. Likes to wear black clothes.

Personality: Peter is a grim boy. His determination to face danger and fight beasts of the night to rid the world of werewolves stems not only from a desire to make the world a better place. Part of it is unadulterated hatred for the beasts and that sometimes shines through his careful demeanor of polite indifference he maintains to keep people at a distance. This makes him a rather intimidating person, amplified by his look of black clothes, black hair and blue eyes.

History: Born in a Pure Blood family, the magical side of the Dukes of Wellington, he grew up in affluent wealth. His parents took him to see the world and on one such occasion, in the mountains of eastern Europe, he was bitten by a werewolf and contracted Lycanthropy. His parents have spent a considerable amount of their wealth to cure him of his affliction, but to no avail. He has to make do with a large and steady supply of Wolfsbane Potion, which he takes dutifully every full moon.

Peter wants to become a hunter of monsters, werewolves preferably. So he specializes in Defense against the Dark Arts and Charms. Potions is his third focus of mastery, as he wants to be able to make his own Wolfsbane Potion in the future. He applied for Alchemy to see if that could result in a cure, but it is a half-hearted attempt.

He hates being a werewolf. As a result he has an aversion to Transfiguration. His ‘situation’ is his greatest secret and would cause the greatest embarrassment for his family. He makes *sure* no-one ever finds out.

Strengths: Potions, Charms, Defense against the Dark Arts

Average skills: Herbology, Ghoul studies, Alchemy

Weaknesses: Transfiguration, Lycanthropy

Other skills: Peter is an accomplished guitar player.

Devon Blakemore, 7th year Gryffindor, Captain of the Quidditch Team (Chaser): NPC
Spoiler: show
Devon Blakemore
Age, Year & House: 17, 7th, Gryffindor. Captain of the Quidditch Team (Chaser)
Blood Status: Halfblood
Patronus: Cheetah
Those with this patronus is incredibly ambitious, and at times very impatient. They like their animal, have the tendency to rush into things or want to get things done quickly. They often look at the big picture rather than the small details, and focus on this in everything they do. Those who are tedious test their patience and annoy them greatly. They are always looking to have a good time or jump into the next activity of their choosing
Wand: Black Walnut and Dragon Heartstring 9 1'2"
Appearance: A self-acclaimed Quidditch nut, he practices and works out as much as he can, which has resulted in the teenager having a muscular frame for his age. Maturity has settled onto his frame, and he has reached 6'1 in height. Hair is dirty-blonde in color, usually messy and falling into his eyes, which are a dark blue in shade. During the school year, he wears the appropriate robes and uniform - although his shirt tends to be un-tucked, and tie un-tied, giving him a carefully disheveled sort of look.

- Athletics of all sorts - especially Quidditch.
- The ladies. ;D
- Music, the louder the better.
- Birds of prey. They look awesome.
- Muggle comic books.

Dislikes (3+):
- Rain. Can't practice Quidditch comfortably in the rain!
- Cats. And the feeling is generally mutual.
- Reading books that contain a lot of words. "Literary "he is not.

Devon is very out-going, and is often the center of attention when with a group of friends. He has a strong sense of morals and will not hesitate to act if he sees someone in trouble, or being berated by members of another House simply because of the color of their badge, or the fact that they're not of pure-blood. His love of Quidditch often times borders upon obsessive. With a tendency to have a short attention span for reading and writing, Devon is best at subjects like Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Charms, where he has opportunity to cast spells.

Devon Blackmore was born in St. Mungo's hospital, on May fourth, to half-blood parents Griffin and Phoebe. Coming from a family of witches and wizards, young Devon was raised in an environment rich with magic. Griffin, a long time worker for Flourish and Blotts in Diagon Alley, met Phoebe during an excursion of hers to the all wizarding shopping area. After several meetings, love blossomed, and a year after they'd wed, young Devon had come into the picture. Phoebe, a journalist for the Daily Prophet, chose to put her career on hold to raise her young son.

From a very early age, Devon showed interest in magic, reading books his father brought home from work as soon as he was able to read. The various spells and charms fascinated him, and young Devon was often told off by his parents for practicing magic with his father's wand. His invitation letter to Hogwarts could not have arrived soon enough for his parents, and their son would be sorted into Gryffindor.

It was not until his third year that his biggest wish would be fulfilled. He made the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and his passionate play resulted in him being named captain by his fifth year.

Strengths, Weaknesses, Other Skills:

Skills (3+):
- Quidditch.
- Physically strong.
- Quidditch.
- Strong sense of morals.
- Not concerned about House rivalries - except in Quidditch of course.
- Quidditch.

Weaknesses (3+):
- Often lacks common sense.
- Rushes into things before learning the entire story.
- Devon isn't the most sensible of people, often missing out on signs that would be obvious to others. Picking up only parts of conversations tends to occur often.
- Perceived by others as "stereotypical jock".
- Can be a show-off.
- Has developed a bad habit of 'borrowing' comic books off of younger Muggleborns. He's amassed quite a collection.

If a 6th or 7th year, a list of NEWT classes:
- Defense Against the Dark Arts
- Transfiguration
- Charms

David Hill - 7th year Hufflepuff (Head Boy, Keeper): NPC
Spoiler: show
David Hill

Blood Status: Halfblood
Age, Year & House: 17, 7th year Hufflepuff
Other: Head Boy & Keeper
Patronus: Bonobo monkey

Appearance: With straw blond hair, deep grey eyes and a tall, muscular build, David looks like he walked out of a 'House on the Prairie' film.

Personality: David is 'that guy' whom everybody knows and likes. He gets along with everyone, regardless of blood status, year or House and never forgets a name or face.

Bio: David is the halfblood son of a Hufflepuff Witch and a Muggle father. He is the fifth child in a line of seven boys and one girl (Emma, the youngest). Each and everyone one of his brothers is a Wizard, sorted into Hufflepuff and Gryffindor; his two brothers currently attending Hogwarts are Henry (3r year Hufflepuff) and Billy (5th year Gryffindor). Like the rest of the Hill boys, neither of them is known for academic accomplishments, though they are very likeable and optimistic. His younger sister starts Hogwarts this year and, to everyone's surprise, little Emma will be sorted into House Ravenclaw.

David was asked to be Prefect in his 5th year but turned it down, as he desperately needed the time to study for his O.W.L. Tests. He was then offered the position of Head Boy in his 7th year and, having less classes to study for, accepted this time. He was offered the position due to his remarkable ability to get along with (almost) everyone and keep a level head in time of a crisis.

He has an intuitive connection with all living things, which is why he scores outstanding marks for both Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures, but he struggles with the more academic side of wizarding. Nevertheless, he has always managed to scrape by as he has many, many friends who are willing to spend entire nights tutoring him until he gets a passing grade.

Thanks to his insane network of friends, David has the password to both the Gryffindor Tower and the Slytherin Dungeon. He would probably have the password to the Ravenclaw tower as well, if it weren't for the fact that the Eagles use riddles instead; so David has to 'make due' with enlisting a Ravenclaw friend to solve the riddle for him. Despite this 'unlimited access', David has never entered one of the other Common Rooms unbidden.

Strengths: Very empathic, very likeable, intuitive understanding of all living things. Excellent flier.

Weaknesses: Not very academic. Has a hard time telling people no.

NEWT classes: Care of Magical Creatures (O), Charms (A), Defence Against the Dark Arts (A), Herbology (O), Muggle Studies (E), Potions (A).

Kate McGrew - 7th year Gryffindor (Head Girl, Prefect): NPC
Spoiler: show
Kate McGrew

Blood Status: Pureblood
Age, Year & House: 17, 7th year Gryffindor
Other: Prefect & Head Girl
Patronus: Mountain Lion

Appearance: Hailing from Southern Ireland with a lovely singsong accent, Kate's face is too angular to be considered beautiful, though shoulder-length copper tresses and sky-blue eyes do make her very pretty.

Personality: Combining idealism with passion, Kate is a bit of a firebrand. She also has an opinion on everything and is willing to engage anyone in a discussion.

Bio: While Grindelwald-ruled Europe claims that Centaurs, Elves, Dwarves and Muggleborn have merely been 'banished and relocated' and the Ministry of Magic seems willing to accept that explanation (after all, the truth would trigger public outcry and a war that they might very well lose to Grindelwald's superior forces), some Witches and Wizards are highly sceptical and worried about the ever-diminishing number of these species on the Mainland. Len and Shannon McGrew, both wizarding journalists, are two of these sceptics. A few years ago, they left their teenage daughter in the care of Shannon's sister, Phoebe, and dedicated their life to the European resistance in Beauxbatons.

Kate, while missing her parents, supports their decision wholeheartedly. After all, she'll tell anyone who will listen, truth and justice must prevail even at the cost of personal sacrifice. While some of her views are controversial (or even unpopular), Kate holds frequent student rallies where she showcases proof of Grindelwald's crimes (blurry pictures of camps whose authenticity has yet to be proven) and tries to instil her fellow students with the sense that Grindelwald MUST be stopped even if it means going to war.

In addition to being an idealistic activist, Kate is smart and has an immense talent for magic. She gets high marks, especially in classes that revolve around spell-casting. She also has an artistic talent, creating highly realistic paintings of the Irish countryside where she grew up.

In her fifth year, Kate was chosen as Gryffindor Prefect. Unbeknownst to everyone but the Headmistress and the Gryffindor Head of House, it was actually the Headmistress herself who pushed for Kate's election. In her seventh year, if was again the Headmistress who selected Kate as Head Girl.

Strengths: Smart and has a talent for spell-casting, gets high marks.

Weaknesses: Has an opinion on everything, even topics she knows nothing about. Finds it hard to accept she might be wrong.

NEWT classes: Charms (O), Defence Against the Dark Arts (O), History of Magic (E), Magic Theory (E), Muggle Studies (E), Potions (E), Transfiguration (O), Art (O).

NPC Student "Prompts" - Can also be used to inspire a playable character!

Timothy Hutchinson, 2nd year Hufflepuff: NPC
Spoiler: show
A quiet and reserved young man, Timothy can be shy when around large crowds and people he doesn't know well. A small, slight boy with a mop of blond hair, he isn't anything special to look at. In fact, one might consider him downright ordinary. Once you break through his shell, however, he is a fast and loyal friend , grateful for company and willing to go to the ends of the earth to keep a friendship going. Hufflepuff second year.

Roy Douglas, 2nd year Slytherin: NPC
Spoiler: show
A thin, rather small thirteen year old sits to the side, apart from the knot of students nearby. Somewhat shy, Roy is slightly wary of large groups. Perhaps this is the reason why the Slytherin second year has very few friends. Despite his shy demeanor, Roy is an above average student who does quite well in his classes. This surprises him, as he is unfamiliar with the wizarding world, being Muggleborn.

Caitlin Young, 3rd year Gryffindor: NPC
Spoiler: show
Ochre colored hair tumbled to her shoulders, wisps framing a delicate young face. Earnest blue eyes gazed with wonder at her surroundings in a world she had only just been introduced to. As a Muggle-Born, the world of magic was still quite new to her even after over two full years enrolled in Hogwarts. Eager to learn, if not overexuberant, the bubbly young Gryffindor third year soaks up anything and everything that has to do with the practice of witchcraft.

Connor Larsen, 3rd year Gryffindor: NPC
Spoiler: show
Usually seen with a book tucked under one arm, it's a wonder that this Gryffindor third year was not sorted into the House of the eagle instead. Preferring to read rather than take part in sport, one might think of him as a bit of a bookworm. Fascinated with all sorts of magical creatures, he spends most of his time on the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest, observing the creatures in in the COMC professor's care. Almost too intelligent for his own good, Connor does especially well in his Care of Magical Creatures class.

Cairistiona Gallagher, 4th year Hufflepuff: NPC
Spoiler: show
Small of stature, this boisterous young lady is as firey as the the brilliant crimson hair that cascades onto her shoulders. Deep blue eyes twinkle mischieviously under a full set of lashes. Her clothing is typical to that of any student, but she lets loose in summer time with more casual outfits. Although not very attentive during lessons, 'Cairi' always manages to do well in class. Hufflepuff fourth year.

Re: PFF Roleplay Character Application Thread

Postby Avis » August 14th, 2013, 12:40 pm

A lot of these Professors can be used by everyone as needed. There are a few that are strictly reserved for use by either Whispers or Biologist. Please check here before deciding to use.

Headmistress: Lyria Terrecent, Gryffindor (Whispers & Biologist)
Spoiler: show
Lyria Terrecent - Gryffindor

Age: 76
Wand: Oak (English), 13 1/4", slightly firm
Patronus: White Tiger
Blood status: Pure

Appearance: Softly greying hair that is often pulled up into a disorderly bun. Tall and slender. Laugh lines and crows' feet. Her walk is more of a float or glide. Though she appears graceful, she is, in fact, quite clumsy and only manages to mask it with a lightness of foot.

Biography: Born to two rather forward thinking pure bloods, her parents chose to educate her in the Muggle system while enhancing that education with home tutelage in magic and magical history. An only child, and the only girl of her generation, she was doted upon by each and every one of her parents' many siblings. When the time came for her to attend Hogwarts, she was sent away with many a well-wish and quite a few presents.

After graduating, she spent some time in politics before deciding to go back to the school where she had grown up. She taught Defense Against the Dark Arts while rising through the ranks, before being appointed Headmistress on her 60th birthday. The general consensus among students is that she is fair, but tolerates no foolishness.

Heads of Houses

HoH Gryffindor / Defence Against Dark Arts: Cyrano Janossi, Gryffindor (Biologist)
Spoiler: show
Character name: Cyrano Janossi, Gryffindor HoH, Defense Against the Dark Arts

Blood Status: Pureblood
Age, House & Subject: Early 60's, Gryffindor, DADA
Patronus: A large black bird of unknown genus.
Wand: Aspen, Janus Hair, 13", Unyielding
- Aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. Aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders.
- Janus Hair comes from the two-headed Janus Troll and is said to produce wands that are equally strong in both offensive and defensive magic. Due to the (very) uncooperative nature of Janus Trolls, these hairs are only harvested on-demand for custom wands.

Appearance: Janossi is tall with a majestic stature. His silver hair and matching beard are kept short and well-groomed. He has dark, unreadable eyes. His most distinguishing feature is his deep, almost hypnotic voice.

Personality: Janossi is a strict teacher, expecting both perfect behaviour and perfect work from his students. He doesn't hesitate to assign 'remedial homework' to students who are falling behind. He is also eminently fair, favouring neither Houses nor individual students. As a result, he is well-respected by both staff and students (even if the latter also find him somewhat intimidating). Janossi's approach pays off, as he has never had a student with a failing grade.

Biography: Janossi began his time at Hogwarts as a phenomenal Hatstall. It took the Hat a whopping six minutes and twelve seconds to decide between Ravenclaw (for intelligence), Slytherin (for ambition) and Gryffindor (for bravery). The Hat finally decided on Gryffindor, in part because Janossi asked to be placed there. Janossi proved to be exceptionally skilled with a wand, scoring top marks in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration and Charms. He also had a flair for potions, not in the least because he recognized the value of 'bottled spells' and worked very hard to be at the top of his class.

After graduating, Janossi travelled the mainland as well as Egypt, Greek and other Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries. Not much is known of his travels, but he became a skilled Legilimens during this time (though perhaps he had the talent all along and kept it hidden during his time at Hogwarts). Rumour has it that he also joined the Silver Spears during this time.

Returning to England after decades of travel and wanting to pass on what he had learned, Janossi applied for a teaching position at Hogwarts. He was granted the position of Professor in Defense Against the Dark Arts. When the old Gryffindor Head of House retired several years later, Janossi was granted that position as well. He has excelled at both posts, much like he has excelled at everything in his life.

Strengths & Other Skills:
- Superb at DADA and duelling.
- Very good at Transformation, Charms and Potions.
- Skilled Legilimens.
- Near-fluent in French, Italian, Spanish and German.
- Conversational in Swedish, Russian and Greek.
- Is rumoured to own a second wand, made of Silver Lime, which he uses for Legilimency.
- Rumoured to be an Occlumens, since this skill often goes hand-in-hand with Legilimency.

HoH Hufflepuff / Potions: Erica Sadowski, Hufflepuff (Biologist)
Spoiler: show
Erica Sadowski - Hufflepuff - Head of House

Age: 31
Wand: Pear, Unicorn Hair, 10 1/4", Supple
Patronus: Dog - Collie
Blood Status: Half-Blood (Half-Blood Mother and Father)

Appearance: She's a tall witch at 5'10", and quite pretty. She has dark green eyes and light brown hair that appears even lighter most of the year, because she spends most of her free time out on the grounds in the sun - she much prefers it to the cold windowless potions corridor.

Biography: Erica was born with an affinity for all living things, making her both an excellent student during her school years - she had an aptitude for both Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures - and a caring friend to all. This combination of empathy and intelligence brought her close to being a hatstall between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. Her natural knowledge of the creatures and plants she cared so much for also included their magical properties, which helped her excel in potions as well. The fact that she was no slouch in her other classes made her one of the best students in her year.

She spent much of her spare time during her Hogwarts years as a tutor to as many fellow students as she could. Her natural desire to help others led to her being selected as both a prefect and later Head Girl, by which time she'd long since realized she wanted to continue helping students for years to come as a professor. As such, she applied for the first Professor position at Hogwarts that became available - Potions - and got the job easily.

HoH Ravenclaw / Care of Magical Creatures / Ghoul Studies / Magical Theory: Helena Magnus, Ravenclaw (Whispers)
Spoiler: show
Helena Magnus - Ravenclaw - Head of House

Age: 37
Wand: English Oak, Phoenix Feather, 10 3/4", Unyielding
Patronus: Phoenix
Blood status: Halfblood

Appearance: Helena is an attractive woman, with luscious chocolate-brown hair cascading down her back in thick waves and curls. Her eyes are blue with an undertone of steely grey, like the sky before a storm and, indeed, she has a temper to match. She stands tall at 1.75 m and while years of exploring the world's most inaccessible regions have given her body an athletic tone, there is no denying the femininity of her curves.

Biography: Helena Magnus is the only child of Gregory, a famous Magizoologist, and Leda Magnus, a Muggle Nurse. Following in her father’s footsteps despite initially graduating as a Mediwitch, Helena had become quite a famous Magizoologist in her own right before being offered the position of Care of Magical Creatures Professor.

While she is a woman of reason and intellect, Helena is also unyielding in her pursuits and once she has made up her mind, there is no changing it. She is exceptionally brave and bold, with her work as a magizoologist often taking her into dangerous situations. Helena has no patience for nonsense, nor does she have any tolerance for excuses and, thus, she expects full-committal from her students; in fact, she is known for kicking 'slacker' students out of her Magical Theory and Ghoul Studies classes.

Helena loves tea and anyone seeking to mollify her would do well to start their conversation with her over a pot of Darjeeling First Flush.

A full write-up on Helena Magnus can be found here.

HoH Slytherin / Transfiguration / Alchemy: Ambrosia Myrrdin, Slyterhin (Whispers )
Spoiler: show
Ambrosia Myrrdin - Slytherin - Head of House

Age: 54 – January 3, 1959
Wand: Pine, Dragon Heartstring, 11 inches, Pliable
Patronus: Swan
Creating the Elixer of Life was done through the Magnus Opus (the Great Work). The swan is one of three birds associated with the Magnus Opus (the other two are the raven and phoenix).
Blood Status: Pureblood

Appearance: Ambrosia is an attractive witch in her mid-fifties. She has very long, black hair, with some grey flowing through, that frames her oval-shaped face. She has almond shaped, piercing blue eyes that seem to see all. She is tall and skinny, though she likes to cover up in black clothes, which make her look a lot more shapeless than she really is.

Biography: Ambrosia grew up in a dwindling Pureblood family as the only child to her parents. Her last name of 'Myrrdin' indicates a lineage tracing back to the legendary wizard Merlin, but there is no definitive proof of that. Ambrosia's parents lived in a tiny cottage in a remote area of Wales. Ambrosia is the last Pureblood in her family, the rest having married Muggleborns or Half-Bloods. As she has no children of her own, the name Myrrdin will die out with her.

During her time at Hogwarts, Ambrosia was in Slytherin house. During her years she became Prefect and later went on to become Head Girl. Transfiguration and Alchemy had always been her best subjects, netting her the best grades in these subjects that anyone had ever seen, with Potions coming in at a close third. After graduating, she continued to pursue her fascination with Transfiguration and Alchemy. Years later, when Ambrosia was renowned in her chosen field, she was offered the post of Transfiguration and Alchemy teacher at Hogwarts and accepted.

Ambrosia's obsession with Alchemy started at an early age, when her father told her stories about their great forebear Merlin and how he had mastered the art. She became transfixed immediately, and would steal her father's books on the subject to learn more. Since the age of 10, all she thought about was finding the mythical Elixer of Life. It wasn't until much later in her life that she discovered that the Elixer isn't an elixer at all, but a Transfiguration spell. Highly complex, the 'Elixer' is a series of Transfiguration spells and Alchemical formulae that allows the caster to transform anything into anything else; including a mortal life into an immortal one.

Ambrosia has an extensive collection of alchemical tomes, including several lost or forbidden tomes. Some of the more famous authors in her collection include Hermes Trismegistus, Aristotle, Albertus Magnus (distantly related to Helena Magnus), Roger Bacon, Pope John XXII, Nicholas Flamel, John Dee, Isaac Newton and the Count of St Germain. Still, Ambrosia's collection is incomplete and gaining access to Hogwarts' extensive library (and its forbidden section) played a large part in her accepting the position of Professor.

Roleplaying: Ambrosia tends to be overly-critical and condescending towards students not in her own house. Even though she favours Slytherin students in general, she has a select few from each House that are her favourites. She is very strict, and does not hesitate to throw any student out who is not paying attention or goofing off. She even used to ban 'unworthy' students from her class permanently, until the Headmistress put a stop to that since Transfiguration is a core class (and therefore a compulsory OWL subject, so students are better off with a Fail than no grade at all). All students wishing to apply for Alchemy lessons must pass Ambrosia's test (with a focus on Transfiguration and Potions) and she's a very harsh judge of talent. Since Alchemy is not a core class, Ambrosia has no compunction banning students from this subject.

Other: Ambrosia is a blood supremacist, but not out of any sense of malice or elitism. During her hunt for the Elixer of Life, she discovered that there is also an 'Essence of Magic'. Just like the Elixer of Life is actually a Transfiguration Formulae, so is the Essence of Magic something even less abstract: it is the representation of innate magic in the blood of wizards and it grows fainter as the blood dilutes. Because of this, Purebloods must remain Pure or all magic will eventually be lost. At least, this is what Ambrosia believes based on the texts she has read, but she or the texts' authors might be wrong.

Core Classes

Astronomy / Elemental and Intuitive Magic: Kenta, Centaur (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Kenta - Centaur of the Forbidden Forest

Age: Unknown. Appears to be in her mind to late 20's.
Wand: n/a
Patronus: n/a
Blood status: Centaur. Classified as Magical Beast XXXX.

Appearance: Kenta is a female centaur with thick black hair that falls down to her waist and is woven through with several small braids, feathers, bone beads and beautiful stones. She wears no clothes, but if she notices that students are uncomfortable with her nakedness, she'll sweep her hair forward to cover her breasts (teachers will just have to get used to it though). Below the waist she is a light bay horse with a black tail (also woven through with a few small braids and feathers) and black fetlocks. Her eyes are a deep, almost walnut-brown colour. Kenta carries a spear, with which she is quite proficient.

Biography: As darkness rose in mainland Europe, the Centaurs of the Forbidden Forest sent an 'ambassador' to Hogwarts, with the intention of staying appraised of developments in the Wizarding Community (through diplomatic means and spying) and ensuring that Hogwarts could be trusted to have the Centaurs best interest at heart. As ambassador they selected Kenta; a young centauride with a great amount of patience and tolerance (needed to deal with the humans).

Not wanting to remain simply idle, Kenta offered to teach 'Elemental and Intuitive Magic'; an extracurricular subject on the four elements and innate magical abilities. While most students are unable to master Kenta's teachings, as humans simply lack the magical abilities of most Creatures, her class did provide students with a deeper understanding of non-wizarding magic, as well as an edge in learning wandless and wordless magic and mastering abilities such as animagics. When the old Astronomy Professor retired, Kenta has added Astronomy to her classes.

As word of the Centaurs' 'disappearance' from mainland Europe reaches England, Kenta becomes increasingly agitated. She will lash out against anyone, student or teacher, who she suspects of harbouring sympathies or even allegiance to Grindelwald, though the Centaurs' code of honour would stop her from physically injuring a minor.

Charms: Reynold Noguerra, Gryffindor (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Reynold Noguerra – Gryffindor

Age: 63
Wand: Black Walnut, Phoenix Feather, 11 3/4", Hard
Patronus: Rhinoceros
Blood Status: Half-Blood (Pure-Blood Father, Muggle-Born Mother)

Appearance: He keeps his thin white hair combed back, and his salt and pepper beard neatly trimmed. Despite living an active life, he looks a bit younger than he actually is. Most would guess him to be closer to 50 than 60. Although on weekends he tends to leave the castle to go to the Hog's Head and have a few firewhiskeys, which has now given him a bit of a gut.

Biography: As Grindelwald's reach spread across Europe, Alberto Noguerra, originally from Spain, felt the safest place to be would be the United Kingdom. He made his way to Scotland and met his wife, Maisy. Soon after their marriage Maisy told Alberto they were going to have their first child, which turned out to be a son. They named their firstborn Reynold.

Reynold Noguerra has never been afraid to give his opinion, and he doesn't suffer fools. He knows exactly how he believes people should act, and if he feels somebody has crossed a line, he lets them know. His brutal honesty has never made him popular, but it has certainly made both students and grown wizards fear him.

While Noguerra has never been particularly well liked, he has always been well respected. Nobody can deny the skill he has at his craft - his charmwork is unmatchable. He's never entered any official tournaments, but his cantankerous personality has found him in plenty of duels - and the rumor among students is that he's never lost. Despite being seen as the strictest disciplinarian in the school, and he'd never admit to it, he cares for his colleagues and (most of) his students and would never let harm befall them.

Flying / Quidditch Instructor: Jackson Emms, Gryffindor (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Jackson Emms - Gryffindor

Age: Twenties-Thirties
Wand: Holly, 12 1/2”, Dragon Heartstring
Patronus: Unknown
Blood status: Halfblood

Appearance: young, good looking (all of the older girls at Hogwarts seemed to have a crush on him) tall, slight, brown hair, rugged, piercing blue eyes.

Biography: Jackson Emms had an illustrious career at Hogwarts as a seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. He arrived just before the turn of the century and tried out for the house team his second year. He was quickly welcomed on the team and eventually became the captain. During his seventh year, numerous quidditch scouts attended his games, interested in signing him to their team. He eventually signed with Puddlemere United.he was quickly hailed as one of the leagues best seekers. He signed a number of advertisement deals and became quite rich quite quickly. After a bludger hit his head during a game, giving him a severe concussion, he decided to retire. He moved back to Hogwarts and took over the vacant post of quidditch referee and flying instructor. He's seen as one of the better teachers at Hogwarts and is known to have frequent classes in his quarters, for those interested, on strategy and tactics of quidditch and other battles (including Wizard's Chess and actual wars). His only fault, it seemed, was the fact that he was rather short tempered and held grudges. Most people, however, were aware of this and knew to leave his presence whenever he showed signs of growing angry.

Herbology: Jefferson Hardwick, Gryffindor (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Jefferson Hardwick – Gryffindor

Age: 51
Wand: Chestnut, Dragon Heartstring, 11", Solid
Patronus: Horse
Blood Status: Muggle-Born

Appearance: Although he's not considered one of the younger teachers, he's certainly not old either. He's naturally tan, and has kept his head shaved since he was a young man, and it's a look that works for him. He has scars on the left side of his face, and when he rolls up his sleeve, there are more on his left arm. He's a strong and muscular man, although not as toned as he was when he was younger.

Biography: Jefferson grew up helping out on the farm of his muggle parents. While he enjoyed getting dirty and helping out with the planting and havesting of the crops, he was a thrill-seeker from an early age, and enjoyed riding the family horses. One time a pack of wolves found their way onto the farm shortly after one of the horses had given birth to a new foal. Jefferson insisted on going outside with his father to get rid of the problem - his father had taught him how to shoot - when it didn't go well, that's how he ended up with the scars on the left side of his body.

This didn't deter Jefferson, though. When he went to Hogwarts he took an interest in Care of Magical Creatures. He also showed a particular talent for Quidditch, and spent his last five years at school as a Beater on the Gryffindor team. Controlling a broom with one hand while keeping a club in the other was easy compared to keeping a horse under control.

Secretly, Jefferson's favorite part of school was always Herbology. It was at times exciting, and other times peaceful, just as it had been growing up on his parents' farm. As a professor, he doesn't always use as much magic as perhaps another Herbology professor might, he prefers manual labor, claiming it keeps him strong. He has a passion and energy for his subject, but growing up working on a farm made him tough, which in turn makes him tough on his students, and he doesn't hesitate to push them.

History of Magic: Rebecca Lewis, Slytherin (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Rebecca Lewis - Slytherin

Age: 39
Wand: Beech, Phoenix Feather, 11", Brittle
Patronus: Snake
Blood Status: Half-Blood

Appearance: Attractive in a naturalistic, athletic way. She has wavy red hair and a pale complexion.

Biography: Rebecca's mother Jeanette was from a well-respected pureblood family, and as such was expected to marry another pureblood. Jeanette was being eagerly pursued by pureblood Clive Fawley, and her family was pushing her to accept his proposal when it came. Jeanette, however, was in love with a muggle archaeologist by the name of David Lewis. When Clive inevitably proposed, Jeanette said she'd think on it. That night she went to David's house and the two ran away.

Within a year, Rebecca was born. However, Jeanette's family hadn't stopped searching for her. It had become clear to both David and Jeanette they would never give up, and it was a growing source of tension. For the second time, Jeanette chose to disappear in the middle of the night, to return to her parents and Clive, believing she was protecting David and young Rebecca. Days later David read of the marriage announcement of Clive and Jeanette Fawley in the Daily Prophet.

David raised Rebecca on his own, never speaking of Jeanette. He was afraid of what might happen if Rebecca ever met the mother who ran away from them, so he kept her identity to himself. His work demanded he travel a lot, and he always brought Rebecca with him, homeschooling her, knowing that one day she'd go off to Jeanette's old magic school of Hogwarts.

Her father's work had fascinated Rebecca, and she became a sort of archaeologist herself, studying the magical people and culture of the past. Outside of her father though, Rebecca could count on one hand the number of people she cares for. She prefers to bury herself in her work. The main reason she accepted the job at Hogwarts was because with all the traveling during her childhood and adult life, it was the only place that had ever felt even close to being a home - but not enough so to keep her from travelling on school breaks.

Rebecca is very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world. On a personal level it is hard to crack the hard shell of poise and certainty around her, but when it does crack its like an egg; lots of repressed and pent up emotions spill out.

Elective Classes

Arithmancy / Ancient Studies: Nicholas Astel, Ravenclaw (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Nicholas Astel - Ravenclaw

Age: 34
Wand: Dogwood, Dragon Heartstring, 13 1/2", Swishy
Patronus: Electric Eel
Blood status: Pureblood

Appearance: Nicholas is tall and lanky with black hair that stands up in unruly spikes at the best of time and unruly, well, unruliness at the worst of times. He has deep blue eyes that seem to change color in the light and a mischievous, still boyish, grin that seems to imply that you just caught him doing something he shouldn't have (which is often true).

Biography: If Nicholas were a Muggle, he would be diagnosed as manic-depressive, but as a Wizard, he is merely considered 'very eccentric'. Ambitious, proud and arrogant, Nicholas is constantly looking to prove that he is smarter than anyone else and his mood swings wildly from hyper and over-enthusiastic when he's successful, to sullen and brooding when he feels lacking.

As a teacher he is unreliable, often leaving for days or even weeks on end in the pursuit of whatever caught his fancy. His saving grace is that he always manages to get his students back on track, with the overwhelming majority of them scoring O on their NEWT and OWL tests. And, truthfully, while Nicholas is not the most powerful Wizard of his time, he is the smartest by far (in England and possibly all of Europe) and there is simply no one who understands Arithmancy better than him.

While Nicholas demands complete devotion to Arithmancy from his students, he is much more disdainful of 'lesser subjects' (everything except Arithmancy and Ancient Studies). He can also appreciate a good prank, as long as it's not directed towards him (but with his superior intellect it's almost impossible to pull one on him anyway). He has a passion for the ancient past, having travelled all over the globe in pursuit of lost civilisations, and teaches the extracurricular subject of Ancient Studies. He also has a particular talent for Charms and Transfiguration spells involving electricity.

Divination / Xylomancy: Desmond Anholts, Slytherin (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Desmond Anholts – Slytherin

Age: 41
Wand: Silver Lime, Unicorn Hair, 13", Brittle
Patronus: Northern Bat
Blood Status: Pureblood (Squib Father)

Appearance: Handsome from a young age and still to this day, as well as being tall (6'3") and slender, he's worn his long black hair in a ponytail most of his life. He wears wire-rimmed glasses with circular frames.

Biography: Desmond lived with his mother on the edge of a forest for the first eleven years of his life and on school breaks. He never knew his father because his mother and father didn't marry. Desmond's mother told him that even though they both knew they were going to have a child, they agreed to go their separate ways.

As it turned out the villagers had never seen Desmond's father. When Desmond displayed talents for astronomy and divination, rumors began to spread that Desmond's father had actually been a centaur from the forest, and somehow his mother had managed to bewitched it into falling in love with her. The rumors hurt Desmond's mother, but she couldn't afford to move them elsewhere, so Desmond had to constantly comfort her. The rumors didn't bother Desmond though, because although he didn't know how to find his father, he didn't need to. Desmond knew one day before he was grown up the two of them would meet - he has seen it in one of his dreams.

The awful rumors followed him to school, but still he didn't care. He knew the day of meeting his father was coming ever closer. Then early in Desmond's fourth year it did. What Desmond's dream failed to show him was that his meeting with his father would come at his mother's funeral. Desmond's father explained he had left because he was a squib - but that Desmond's great grandfather had been a seer - and didn't want to bring shame to Desmond's mother. Desmond didn't have the heart to tell him he'd done exactly that.

After that Desmond always knew to be wary of the future events he saw in his dreams. He lost a part of his optimism - not to say he's mean or unfriendly - and always seems pensive and tense. He makes a point to impresses upon his students that the future can be both wonderful and heartbreaking, and to be ready for either. He considers it a practical lesson he can teach to even those who will never see the future. He has been known to sometimes snap at a student if they show a complete disregard for this idea - he considers it naive to believe everything will always work out perfectly.

Muggle Studies / Muggle Music: Orson Quiggler, Hufflepuff (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Orson Quiggler – Hufflepuff

Age: 28
Wand: Dogwood, Unicorn Hair, 12", Quite Flexible
Patronus: Baboon
Blood Status: Half-Blood (Half-Blood Mother, Muggle Father)

Appearance: Necklength wavy brown hair, and bright and expressive blue eyes. 6' tall, and a bit thin.

Biography: The third of four children, Orson had the best of both worlds. His mother was a talented witch, and his father was a computer programmer and all around handyman. Mrs. Quiggler could fix anything within the house using magic, but if a muggle neighbor had something that needed fixed, they knew Mr. Quiggler was the one to call. The Quiggler's loved their children deeply, and it was common to see all six of them around a table playing games, both muggle and magical.

As such, Orson never really grew up. Being raised in a Muggle and Magical family he's just as likely to be found playing video games as he is gobstones. He's energetic, lively, fun loving, and talks with his whole body. He has a natural curiosity that leads him on constant pursuits to find out how muggle inventions work (although his father taught him plenty), and sometimes gets him in trouble when he starts trying to pry into peoples' personal lives.

Being Professor of Muggle Studies, Orson tries to make his students view muggles as he does, as inventive and intelligent
people who should be given the same respect as those in the magical community. Indeed, the subject has flourished under his teachings, as he's known to take students outside on warm spring days for "hands on" classes in muggle sports.

Study of Ancient Runes / Art / Muggle Art: Yuko Hisako, Ravenclaw (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Yuko Hisako – Ravenclaw

Age: 79
Wand: Cherry, Dragon Heartstring, 9 1/2", Rigid
Patronus: Swan
Blood Status: Pureblood

Appearance: Hisako is a pudgy, elder Japanese woman with grey hair that reaches her shoulders. She has brown eyes and glasses. She's only 5'3".

Biography: While Muggles in England and Japan were on opposite sides of WW2, in the wizarding world, everyone was on the same side trying to figure out how best to deal with Grindelwald. Mr. Hisako lived in Nagasaki with his wife and daughter, Yuko, and was the Japanese Magical Ambassador to the Ministry of Magic in the UK. In 1945, Yuko was 11 years old and getting ready to go to school at Mahoutokoro Magical Academy.

Then on August 6, the American muggles dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. Mr. Hisako correctly deduced that it may not be the only one, and immediately moved his family to England. They were housed by one of Mr. Hisako's Ministry acquaintances until they found their own place. Mr. Hisako was also able to pull strings within the Ministry and get Yuko a spot at Hogwarts mere days before the new school year started.

Luckily for Yuko, her parents wanted her to be well-versed not only in magic, but also in art and culture. By the time she was 11, she was fluent not only in her native Japanese, but also Korean and English. She was also a talented painter.

The other students at Hogwarts welcomed Yuko warmly, but the transition was still one of turmoil. While most of her wizarding friends had been apparated out of the city by their parents before the second bomb went off, not all of them had been so lucky. Not to mention all her friendly muggle neighbors who'd had no chance of escape.

Yuko Hisako has now long been a well-respected Professor at Hogwarts. Her parents' early teachings gave her a natural talent for picking up other languages, and she excelled at Ancient Runes. She's demure, cultured, and warm, but deep inside she still completely detests Grindelwald - more than most - for letting things go too far all those years ago.

Supporting Faculty

Castle Caretaker / Music Mistress: Alice Coulter, Slytherin (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Alice Coulter - Slytherin

Age: 43
Wand: Elm, Cockatrice Feather, 11 1/2", Stiff
Patronus: European Magpie
Blood status: Pureblood

Appearance: Tall with porcelain skin, a regal bearing and aristocratic features, Mrs Coulter might be one of the most beautiful women in England. She has long black hair with white streaks and a deep, almost metallic, blue-green gloss. Her sapphire eyes are her most striking feature and nothing seems to escape their notice.

Biography: Mrs Coulter, née Ms Black, grew up in the faded glory of her family while her Pureblooded 'friends' grew up in riches. Resolving never to be poor herself, she is quite greedy. Unfortunately for her, she is also quite complacent. And while she'd like to think she has a thirst for adventure, the truth is she really does not want to bother with 'strange' foreign habits or dusty hotels. As a result, she sought her adventure and riches close by: at Hogwarts. Even as a student, she explored the Castle in secret, stealing away the odd forgotten object here and there. Now, after years of working as the Castle's Caretaker, she knows its hidden passages and secret rooms better than anyone. Strangely enough, she finds secrets still; it is almost as if the Castle, somehow sentient through all the magic coursing through its walls, has turned itself into one big 'room of requirement' for Mrs Coulter's pleasure. Despite the fact that she steals (though only forgotten objects and never from students or teachers), Mrs Coulter is indispensable to Hogwarts. No one knows the Castle better, or has a better grasp of the day-to-day magic that makes it function, or the House Elves that work tirelessly behind the scenes.

Mrs Coulter is a paragon of Britishness. She frequently corrects students and teachers alike on correct pronunciation or grammar, and she is very particular about adhering to teatime. She is also very musical, with a clear soprano voice and a talent for a wide variety of instruments, and serves as Hogwarts' 'Music Mistress' (Mrs Coulter abhors the title 'Music Master' as she is female and the term master clearly incorrect to describe her). Usually strict and cold, at least until one gets to know her better, her passion for music is real and students who share this love might see a friendlier side of her.

While she insists on being addressed as 'Mrs Coulter', no one has ever seen Mr Coulter.

Librarian: James Galway, Ravenclaw (NPC)
Spoiler: show
James Galway - Ravenclaw

Age: 23
Wand: Silver Lime, Unicorn Hair, 12", Rigid
Patronus: Hedgehog (female)
Blood status: Muggleborn

Appearance: At only 23 years of age (the youngest librarian in Hogwarts' history) with unruly dark-blond hair and intensely blue eyes, James Galway turns many heads. Any notion of hanging out in the library to attract his attention (and every year sees new students trying this) is quickly dispelled upon meeting him though; Galway has all the charm and friendliness of a hedgehog.

Biography: James Galway, son of two academic scholars, grew up surrounded by books. Somewhat shy and clumsy, with a rare talent for being able to 'feel' what people thought about him (and, with exception of his parents, this was rarely flattering) he soon came to value books over people. When his Letter from Hogwarts arrived, his Muggle parents were only half-surprised as, in their studies, they had already unearthed a 'hidden society' living alongside their own.

When he graduated from Hogwarts, he turned right around and applied for the position of Librarian, as the school held the greatest collection of books he had ever seen. Fortunately for him (and possibly with a little push on his part), the old Librarian was about to retire and Galway got the job. As Librarian, he is absolutely meticulous in his care for the old tomes and has restored many of the older volumes while also purchasing new additions. As good as he is with books, he is less friendly towards the students; he seems to believe that Hogwarts' main purpose is to store and collect old books and while he 'allows' students to peruse these books in the intellectual pursuit of knowledge, he is known for throwing students out of the library, or even banning them, if they misbehave.

Galways is rumoured to be a Legilimens though he has never used this power on any of the students. He frequently lets his Patronus scuttle through the library so she might eat beetles and other such insects who would damage the books.

Nurse: Doctor Sherman Rhodes, Hufflepuff (NPC)
Spoiler: show
Doctor Sherman Rhodes – Hufflepuff

Age: 91 (doesn't look a day over 70)
Wand: Hawthorn, Unicorn Hair, 12", Solid
Patronus: Labrador dog
Blood Status: Half-Blood (Pure-Blood mother, Muggle-Born father)

Appearance: Sherman Rhodes has pure-white hair (no beard or moustache) and many, many wrinkles. Age has caught up with him and he is beginning to put on weight, though his muscular arms still reveal his past as a soldier. His demeanour is more than a little gruff, but he nevertheless has a grandfatherly air over him. He often jokes with his patients and an end to the jokes is usually a sign that the prognosis is grave indeed.

Biography: Sherman Rhodes was only a teenager when World War II struck and, as all teenage boys of the time, he enlisted in the army as soon as he was eligible; even leaving Hogwarts early to do so. Having a natural talent for Herbology and Potions, Rhodes was able to hide his magical nature from the other soldiers yet nevertheless serve as a medic for his company. What he experienced at the war front scarred Rhodes deeply and he believes that war is not only a failing of civilisation, but also a failing of humanity. After the war, Rhodes did not return to Hogwarts, but instead trained as a mediwizard - filling out his hard-learned practical knowledge with a theoretical curriculum. He worked at St Mungo's for several years, before taking up a position as a field doctor for the English Quiddich team (being a fan of the game himself). When he became too old to work as a field doctor, rather than return to St Mungo's, he took over as Head Nurse at Hogwarts.

A number of characters have now been archived. If any of their owners wish to bring them back into the Roleplay, all that needs to be done is to ask, and we can bring them back out. It was just getting a little cluttered in the Character Records and I wanted all the active characters to be easily accessible.

First draft, found it really hard to make him unlike me, as not used to writing for anyone else, if people think he is too like me I will change him. As you guys know, never done this before so feel free to criticise and tell me how to improve.

Forum Username:

Character name:
Ben Roberts

Blood Status: (Muggleborn, Halfblood, Pureblood)

Age, Year & House:
11, 1st year, Gryffindor.

Patronus: (Shield Form, Incorporeal Animal or Solid Animal. Optional: Why this one? What does it say about your character?)
Doesn't even know what one is yet.
When he does get a patronus it will probably be a Kneazle. As he has grown up unknowingly with Kneazles on the farm and has one as a pet to take to school.

Optional: Wand: (Wood, Core. Length, Qualities. Optional: Describe the meaning/qualities of your chosen wand properties.)
Length: 14 1/2 in
Wood: Red Oak
Core: Unicorn
Flexibility: Slightly Yielding
Quite a long wand considering he is so short. Red Oak meant to show a hot temper but can just be quick reactions. Unicorn hair means it is loyal and consistent if not that powerful.

Appearance: (Hair, Height, Build, etc.)
Short, skinny, lightly tanned skin, black hair always too long, hates having it cut, blue eyes. Will grow to be a lot taller just over 6 foot eventually but for the moment is a little shorter than average for his age. Quite average looking, can't tell yet if he will be handsome or not.
Spoiler: show

Personality: (See 'creating interesting PC')
Talks a lot, normally without thinking, can come across as quite mean sometimes as he is very sarcastic.
Loves music and playing the guitar, thinks he is a lot better at it than he really is, in the muggle world is rarely seen without his ipod.
Prefers being outdoors to being indoors loves sport, especially football and swimming and animals, hates studying unless it is something that really interests him.
As soon as he learns about Animagi he is determined to learn to be one and spends a lot of time reading up on it and trying to work it out, not successfull for quite some time yet if at all.

History: (See 'creating interesting PC')
Grew up as part of a large family, two older brothers, one older sister and one of each younger than him. in rural Ireland, no wizards in family as far as they know, parents own a farm, which has been in the family for about five generations, so he has grown up with animals and was always expected to work on the farm when he grew up, although he harboured a secret desire to be a rock star he has told no-one else about.
Family knew there was something strange about him but were never really sure what it was, there was nothing tangible, but he always seemed to work better with the animals then the other members of the family and the whole family always thought the way he talked to his cat Smoky was weird. Now they know about magic the family also suspect his younger sister Louise who is a year younger than him is also magical but they aren't really sure yet.
Whole family are very excited that he is a wizard and are hoping he can learn some stuff that will help them run the farm better when he leaves school. As yet they have no idea what but are convinced it can only be a good thing him being a wizard.
He is really worried about going to Hogwarts, a little nervous as he has never been apart from his family before. He is also very worried as the teacher who came to see them to talk about Hogwarts told him that muggle devices won't work at Hogwarts so he can't take his ipod and doesn't quite know how he will get to listen to music.
Takes his pet cat which is really a kneazle to school with him, doesn't realise that an owl would have been more useful to send letters home and stuff as really hasn't got his head around owl post etc yet. the Kneazle is called Smoky it is skinny and dark grey and spends most of its time wandering in the grounds on its own somehow though it always finds Ben when he is out in the grounds doing something, But he very rarely sees him in the castle.

Strengths, Weaknesses, Other Skills:
Strengths, Is quite a good flyer.
Turns out he has a natural affinity with animals.
Weaknesses, tends to speak before he thinks, is very sarcastic and is quite lazy when it comes to things he is not interested in. Always leaves homework until the last minute and does the minimum amount possible. Not very academic.
Average intelligence if he worked hard he would probably do ok, but just doesn't always apply himself. Favourite phrase of his muggle teachers on his school report cards is "could try harder".

Axademic subjects.
Good at - DADA, Herbology
Average at - Potions (mainly beacuse of the link to herbology), Transfiguration (due to the extra reading he does on Animagi)
Terrible at - History of Magic, Astronomy, Charms,

Extra curricular - Choir. Tries out for Quidditch.

That's quite a good character, River!

I didn't really get a 'sarcastic' vibe off Ben. If you want to play him that way, that's perfect of course, but if for any reason you added it because you felt you needed another weakness, I think the character is also balanced enough without.

River, I agree with Whispers. Personally, I'm really liking the Kneazle part :D

But yes, I also think you've created a well-balanced character. Equal strengths and weaknesses, and I expect we'll be seeing Ben on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team at some point... I'm guessing... seeker?? :)

Anyways, I'm going to approve your character. You can create his profile here

I just aged down a character that I had when RoR was open... I loved him XD

I welcome any Crits or feedback!

Character name:
Axis Eugene Fletcher
Blood Status:
Age, Year & House:
15, 5th Year, Hufflepuff
Patronus: (Shield Form, Incorporeal Animal or Solid Animal. Optional: Why this one? What does it say about your character?)
Raccoon, Incorporeal
Optional: Wand: (Wood, Core. Length, Qualities. Optional: Describe the meaning/qualities of your chosen wand properties.)
Beech, Unicorn, 11 3/4 in, Supple.
Appearance: (Hair, Height, Build, etc.)

Spoiler: show

Axis is tall and lanky, and he looks like he hasn't quite grown into his feet yet. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes - They're a chocolatey type brown with flecks of gold. In the summer the hair on his arms becomes bleached by the sun… and his hair becomes a bit lighter. His eyes are his favorite part of his face; he thinks his face is forgettable, a generic "boring" face. In about 10 years into the future he chooses to grow an impressive beard -- brown with flicks of red and white "Much more memorable" He says.

Personality: (See 'creating interesting PC')
Axis is a friendly boy, he enjoys being outside - strolling through the grounds, collecting supplies and spying on the creatures there. He is kind, patient, and wants to be friends with everyone (even if they don't deserve it). He doesn't listen to talk about "feelings" very well. His brain tends to turn off once someone starts talking about emotions. In spite of his terrible listening skills, he takes direction quite well; he's a "doer" as they say. He usually does physical tasks quickly and accurately; actually he tends to turn off listening and thinking completely when working on a task…almost like a trance. He never reads signs and he detests reading books (unless they are about animals and plants). Usually, homework is done from notes in lecture, so the need for reading in minimal. He actually does show up for classes, mostly so he doesn't need to spend time reading in the future.

History: (See 'creating interesting PC')
Axis was brought up in a pretty regular magical family, his father was a wizard and his mother was a muggle. Archer Fletcher attended Hogwarts in the past and was sorted into Gryffindor, and Amelia Fletcher went to a regular old muggle school. They met in grade school and their love lasted, even after Archer received his letter to Hogwarts, Amelia knew they'd be together. She fully accepts the wizard world, she's actually quite sad she isn't a witch. It'd be nice for around the house.

Axis grew up like any kid. He was an only-child, but he didn't mind it much. He spent much time out in the woods making forts and pretending. He showed minimal magical abilities as a child… Archer thought for sure he was not going to be accepted into Hogwarts. As it happens, his magic is rather subtle; it's not the showy magic that Archer was used to doing. They were all very pleased when the letter arrived.

Strengths, Weaknesses, Other Skills:
Listens to directions
Has good skill with some protection charms and transfigurations.
Care of Magical Creatures (elective)

Most things
Muggle Studies (he was brought up with a muggle mother, so no reading required!)
Potions (Passes only because he can follow a recipe very closely)

His brain turns off when people are talking to him about uninteresting topics
Weak at Hexes, curses, and counter curses.
No flying, at all, ever… very poor balance.
Defence Against the Dark Arts
History of Magic.

Plant and animal identification
Great interest in wand lore (aspires to become a maker of wands)
Whittles-generally when he's on one of his outings.
Enjoys running moderate distances and traveling

If a 6th or 7th year, a list of NEWT classes:

Edit: Forest to grounds... I would assume there's quite a bit of land that's not forbidden forest that needs exploring. Good point about the forest, I'm sure it'd be quite dangerous during these times esp. when he's not very good at offensive/defensive magic. I'm sure that will s it quite difficult to survive during these times... his transfiguration and charms are good though, so that may help a bit behind the scenes. I'm sure he'll have some friends that'll save his hide.

Edit: If I were to add the classes that he's good at, I would also add the classes that he's not good at... so wouldn't they even out?

Edit: It really didn't make sense for him to be good at potions... the only real reason he'd be good at it is because he can follow a recipe... so he'd have no real skill/knowledge. And he'd take muggle studies and be good at it, only because of his muggle mother and could skate through it easily enough. So, it's pretty even now (hope you think so too!). If not I'll change it ^^

@ Jag, I like Chris. You have a few English mistakes, but they are not mistakes that you'd catch with a spell check (you used the wrong noun tense a few times and I think I saw one mixed up word) and your post is still perfectly understandable, do that does meet the criteria (aka "must be legible and look like it passed a spell check). However, if you like I could send you an edited version?

If you really can't think of a Patronus, you could consider listing it as 'shield' and RP that Chris hasn't been able to summon a proper Patronus yet.

I think being a Prefect is fine since it's not an 'exclusive' position like Head Boy or Seeker (aka we can have more than one if another player also wants to be Prefect), but the final decision is up to Avis and Nim.

@ Niffz, Axis is also fine, but I have a few minor points. You wrote that he likes to stroll in the Forbidden Forest and spy on the creatures there, so you should know that the forest has become a LOT more crowded and dangerous since Grindelwald rose in Europe. So I'm not saying that it's impossible for Axis to have gone to the forest (he's had 5 years to explore after all) but it's probably been pretty minimal and not exactly a 'stroll' ;).

Also, don't forget to list Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures and Potions in his 'strengths list'. That makes his strengths list a bit on the long side and I recommend possibly switching Transfigurations and Charms to 'a little above average' rather than 'strong', but I'll let the other RP leaders give input on that first (I'm on the fence, so if they think it's fine to keep Trans and Charms as 'strong', then so do I).
