The 'PFF Capsule Vending Machine'

Image

A couple of weeks ago one Mr Arthur Weasley, lover of all things muggle, came across an old vending machine. Having heard his daughter-in-law talking about having taken his grand-kids to the beach, and having let them use such a vending machine, his joy upon discovering such a machine was immense. If it could bring such happiness to other muggle children, then imagine what it could do if it was bewitched a little. After a couple of weeks of intense tinkering on the machine (much to his wife's dismay) the machine worked smoother, and instead of requiring the use of strange muggle money, it responds to tokens conjured up by your wand; of course the machine's smarter than it's muggle cousins, and can work out how long it's been since you last used it. No being greedy witches and wizards now.

Ecstatic with his tinkering Mr Weasley wishes for nothing more than the witches & wizards of this world to get to use his vending machine. Of course it can't stay in the Burrow; Molly would have both a fit at him advertising his messing with muffle artefacts, and the amount of muddy shoes that would trample through their home. Thus the machine has been donated to the Pottermore Fan Forum; Under Ministerial Decree 157 of 2007 the PFF is granted a special license to use such magically altered items. However please remember if anyone from the Ministry of Magic asks (beside the minister, and his devoted secretary) the item was crafted right here...that goes double if Mrs Weasley asks.

About the machine's prizes:
  • The machine offers two type of prize sets: normal sets and special sets.
  • Normal sets contain 9 different prizes: 8 common and 1 rare (those silhouettes with a small star on them). Which one you get is random each time, and does not take into account what prizes you already have. Thus you may get duplicates (these can be traded back in). Additional tokens can also be brought for normal sets.
  • At the moment there is just one specials set: the PFF collection. This is a collection of prizes awarded for partaking in things like Quidditch and classes.

How to use the machine:
  • Users may ask for a token to use the machine once every two weeks (once a week if you're a V.I.P. member).
  • To ask for a token just post in this thread, and conjure one up. A mod will then give the machine a little knock (no one said it worked perfectly!) and an egg ( Image ) will then pop out of the machine, and the mod will post it in this thread to ensure it doesn't roll away.
  • Your new prize will be added to your collection. Collections are contained in this thread.
  • Mods are allowed to use the machine, but the other mods must look after their collection.

Trading in prizes:
  • You can trade duplicate prizes back to the machine.
    Normal members may trade:
    2 duplicates = a normal token
    4 duplicates = a set token
6 duplicates = an equalizer token or a non duplicate normal token.
    8 duplicates = a non duplicate token
    10 duplicates = a rare token
14 duplicates = a non dupicate rare token
    VIP Members may trade:
3 duplicates = 2 normal tokens or one set token
4 duplicates = an equalizer token or a non-duplicate normal token
    6 duplicates = a non-duplicate token
    7 duplicates = a rare token
    10 duplicates = a non-duplicate rare token
  • The rarity of an item does not change the machine trading rate.
  • You can also trade with other users. To do this you must both agree, and you must post in this thread to let the mods know, and for them to check this is fine.
  • Special sets cannot be traded with the machine, or other users.
  • Trading does not count as your fortnightly use of the machine.

Buying extra tokens:
  • You can buy extra tokens with your PFF points. You may buy up to 1 a week.
  • Bought tokens are additional goes at the machine, besides your normal fortnightly go.
  • The bought tokens will only be for normal sets. Special sets cannot be bought.
  • You must have the necessary points either on hand or in Gringotts.
  • 1000 PFF points = a normal token (works as normal).
  • 2000 PFF points = a set token (you can select which set the prize will be from).
  • 3000 PFF points = an equalizer token (all prizes have an equal chance of being gotten).
  • 3000 PFF Points = a non-dupicate normal token, (you won't get a prize you already have but this will only be a normal token not a rare one)
  • 4000 PFF points = a non-duplicate token (you won't get a prize you already have).
  • 5000 PFF points = a rare token (randomly selects a rare prize)
  • 7000 PFF points = a non-duplicate rare token (you will get a rare token you don't already have)
