It's a great start for your first try, Elm. :] *pokes repeatedly in the sides* Don't be so hard on yourself and stop calling your stuff fails! We're all here to learn, and that's all that matters. :]

Oooh Elena, I really like the blending. As you said the arm had been cut off quite a bit, but ah well. :]

Awesome fading Hermy! I can see how the red from the wand background and the purple from the quill background are fading into each other, especially towards the middle of the wand!

How do you save a picture as a jpg file on gimp? i tried, but it won't let me.

To save a file on GIMP, you want to go to File ---> Export.../Export to :)

Saving images as jpg files loses a lot of image quality. It has to do with the compression of the file - always try to save your projects as a .png file if you can help it. :)
